We found a large spider in bed when pulling back the sheets. Happens, right? While I was going over both of our beds looking for other critters, I found long hairs on the blankets and blood smears on the comforter. Front desk brought more blankets. They were also hairy. I went to the front desk, got more blankets, and opened them right in the lobby. Yep: more hair. The clerk ran upstairs to get some (hopefully) cleaner blankets, but I stopped searching them when I found smeared feces on the first of the new blankets I opened. Do not stay here! I looked at the Google reviews and all were pretty positive but our experience was not good. Our king bedroom was only about the size of the bed, a 2 person table and bathroom and was almost $100/night. The carpet was stained, the room was dated, we were woke up by the maid after the room was already cleaned-during nap time-and the pool was a dirty white/yellow. If the room was $50/night as advertised, it'd be more understandable but still not worth it. I'd recommend going to Hill City, SD which is about the same area as Keystone to the local attractions. It's cheaper and doesn't seemed as monopolized by this company as Keystone does. read more

Not impressed with anything other than the partial view of Mt Rushmore when daylight came. Was told to ask the next AM for a military discount but they had already charged my card and ended up doing a credit. No shampoo in the room, only tiny soap. Carpet was stained. I have to admit I was very scared to stay here. My family was en route to Mt Rushmore and we hadn't realized we would be there the weekend before the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Plus, we were traveling with a dog which limited the places we could stay. Calling from the road to get a Motel 6 or Super 8 failed us, and we got desperate. Everything in the area was so expensive, it felt like a miracle to get a room for less than $150 a night. The President's View Resort it was, and then I decided to check online review sites. The room was nothing like these complainers are saying. The room size is fine. The parking is fine. The view of Mt Rushmore is dandy. The sheets and blankets are clean. The staff is courteous. My only complaint is the gaudy lit up sign at the entrance. I just feel a hotel in Keystone SD needs to be a little less conspicuous than flashy lights. read more

Very disappointing. Worst hotel we've stayed at on our 3 week trip. Probable the smallest room I've ever stayed at. No amenities at all. No coffee maker, no shampoo, no internet even though there is suppose to be. No breakfast. The beds are hard and the bedding is from the seventies. Oh and no hot water in the morning either. I'm bordering between a 2 and a 3 star. Parking was easy, price was ok, $100 a night. This was cheaper than all of the others but we had been in 3 hotels in the previous 3 nights ( traveling across the country) and paid the same price ( give or take $15) and this hotel was drastically lacking compared to the others. We checked in late and this gentleman came from the back ( assume he sleeps on site) and didn't have a shirt on, have no fear he was trying to button the one button at the top as he checked us in. However he was nice and helpful in directions. The room, super far from the elevator ( I think they had one but I never could find it). Very outdated. We don't usually turn the tv Bc we are exhausted from travels however was surprised to see a tube tv. There was milk and juice in our warm fridge ( these were not ours). The beds were uber springy. If one person rolled over the other felt it and jostled around too. Not many outlets. Although everything felt like a 1970s porn had been filmed here, we didn't find anything dirty other than the feeling. We didn't take our shoes off so unsure about the feel of the carpet. This was a last resort for us so we had no choice, it served the purpose of providing a place to sleep , however the price should be much less. We probably would not stay there again. read more

The price is cheap. But it's much worth the stay. The staff was friendly and incredibly helpful and knowledgable of the area. The hotel/resort was very clean, and rooms were well kept and spacious and modern. For the price you get more than what you pay for. Highly recommend staying here. The views are amazing! This hotel got a bad wrap from others, which isn't right. It should be more than two stars, which for me is a be weary. The hotel is clean, bedrooms and bathrooms. They only have coffee in the lobby, but there are plenty of places to eat in Keystone. There is a pool, but didn't get to use because we were sightseeing. It is a little dated on the decor, but I don't stay at a hotel because of flowers and light fixtures. The tv is not flat screen, but you should be out watching real life, not tv anyways. I would have given it a 5 star rating, but the decor kept it at a four. Great place to stay away from the name brands. read more

I'm copying this from tripadvisor because I want to make sure everyone knows to hate this place. Wish I could give no stars. Stay away. Seriously. I didn't expect much and wasn't looking for a nice place as I am on a budget and it was already 11pm and just needed a place to stay after escaping a storm at a campground about an hour away. After booking online and trying to call and confirm to no avail as no one ever answered, I decided to just go since I had received a confirmation email. Upon my arrival, there was no one at the front desk and another guest who had just arrived also couldn't find any help. I ended up knocking on the door behind the counter (since I heard someone moving around inside) and they finally emerged after ten minutes. The man, Charles, had nothing to say besides he had no rooms even though I had paid over $100 and been confirmed and the other guest had called and spoken with him that day and reserved a room. We had each driven over 8 hours that day and he wouldn't even help us find a different hotel. Instead he said we could sit in the lobby and find one ourselves but proceeded to turn off the lights and offer no refund. Not to mention there were bugs everywhere and he didn't even apologize for any confusion or ever call me or the other guest to say that there weren't actually any rooms left. Particularly odd was that he told the other guest her room was water damaged as of a few hours earlier yet he never called her to tell her and he also had no explanation for why I had been able to book if there were no rooms. Completely unprofessional, unsympathetic, and rude. He sent me, a 22 year old girl, off in the dark after midnight with no where to stay and no explanation. I beg you not to give this place your business. I never write reviews for anything (and am generally a very positive person) but I really just had to this time to save the next traveler. read more

Terrible. I made an online reservation 2 days before traveling to Keystone. I received a confirmation email for my reservation. After traveling 8 hours and arriving at the hotel, we learned that it was closed for reservations. But, they announced via a sign on the front door that our reservation would be honored at another hotel down the road. The motel down the road that had our was awful - smelled like cigarettes, and beds were barely passable as spot to sit down much less sleep. I stayed at this hotel last night. It was probably my last resort because every other hotel was booked. The seniors all decided to take bus tours to see Mount Rushmore........... busloads of people staying at all the other hotesl. They were the lucky ones not to stay here...... I wasn't. The carpet was so old and dirty, the beds were old and the lining from under the beds were hanging from the bottom of the beds. There was one window that looked at a mountain wall about 10 feet away. The bathrooms were disgusting............ there was a small roach crawling around the bathroom. The clean towels had stains on them........ I kept my shoes on when I was walking around the room. Next time this happens I will sleep in a tent in my sleeping bag and be much happier. To make matters worse they have a big neon sign out front that said rooms for $49........ when I walked in they charged me $98 but gave me $4 off because I have an ARP card. False advertising.... if anyone was going to get a $49 room it should have been me getting this room. They said since they only had a few rooms left they could charge more. I am giving it 1 star because there is not an option for less. By the way....... I hear there is a newer section of this hotel but I am sure I stayed in the older section. I wouldn't stay in this hotel period even if I could get a newer room. YUK! read more

Our family of 6 stayed here this past weekend. Great hotel for the $'s. Most think staying in the Hills in the middle of summer, the rates would kill you. Very reasonable rate, FANTASTIC view from the 3rd floor where you walk in on ground level! And you can see a profile view of the Four Faces from the 3rd floor parking lot. On the down side, wifi was hit and miss, and the hot tub was not hot. read more

It's a trick!! Do NOT be fooled by the nice exterior! The place screwed up our booking dates. We HAD booked it for 5 nights, but at check in they had us down for only one. Thank God for our confirmation email to show that it was their mistake!!! Once inside the room (about the size of a cardboard box) my wife had to use the restroom...but had to hold it till maintaince could bring a plunger and unclog the previous tenants crap!! The room itself stunk so BADLY we had to go out and purchase air freshener and candles. The bathtub was crawling with insects...and the room was filthy!! Garbage left behind and you could clearly see that the cleaning service in that place was laxed. Actual filth built up from not being thorough. And to top it off...they cut corners on cost by NOT supplying shampoo. So if you book here...which I pray you don't...bring your own bottle. As we stayed there our family made it into a game to see if the same trash on the floor in the hallway would still be there the next day...by danding...it was...EVERY DAY WE WERE THERE!!! We like to travel and have stayed many places...we understand you get what you pay for but there is no excuse for the dirty filthy outdated rooms or the rest of the "resort". We are not "bitchers" we genuinely don't want some one else making the mistake our family did by thinking what an amazing place this is...and once there finding out its a crap chute!!! There has to be better places than this to stay in the area. Don't be fooled by the "Mt Rushmore Views" and $49 rate marketing BS. To get a "slight"view you have to purchase the "suites" on the 3rd floor. As in a recent post we had a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool (unless you have kids not a plus) with a King bed and it was like staying in a closet. Decor is an ugly floral and beds are thin and hard. Whirlpool looked nasty and big enough to hold 2 people. Towels are what I use at home for rags. They do have "Free Coffee", but after one sip set our cups down. For $129 + taxes this was very disappointing. Our daughter and her family got stuck on the first floor with the same size room and 2 double beds squeezed into it. Their rate was $99. We had to pay 25% more because we had a king bed. We will never be staying here agin. Thankfully it was only one night. P.S. Internet connection is horrible! read more
