We came to Medora for a family reunion and after a long day of flying and driving ate here for dinner. We were quite a large group and we do love our pizza. The kids all ordered cheese and they liked it. I had a slice as well. You all do use a lot of cheese, which I love cheese, but the kids did say it was a little much for them. The other pizza we ordered was the Badlands pizza and this was probably one of the most unique pizzas I've had in a while. I totally loved this pizza. It had lots of different meats. It had some kind of like cherry peppers. Absolutely delicious. I wish I had a pizza like that close to me. The staff were really friendly. The pizza itself was actually pretty good. It wasn't anything amazing but was a solid 3.5 stars out of 5. The music choice was country classics and that was fine. However, someone kept changing the channel mid song to either 90s music (not bad but a little out of place) or 2020s pop (bad and out of place.) The service is where this place fails miserably. Our "waiter" was awful. He wasn't rude, he was just clueless, and I had to track him down multiple times. I don't think he had ever waited tables before and apparently nobody ever told him how to do it either. He dropped off our menus and said he would be back and then disappeared for 20 minutes. There was only one other table in the restaurant, so it certainly wasn't because he was busy. I finally found him hanging out at the hostess stand so, at least I knew where to find him. I got him to come take our order and finally bring our drinks. After our order was dropped off he never checked on us again. No refills. No to go box. No check. We ate there twice while in Medora. First night, we ordered BBQ Chicken Pizza. The second night, we had Chicken Alfredo with sausage pizza. It's the best we ever had anywhere! Service was slow, but the pizza made up for it!!! Reasonable priced for 12 inch pizza of around $17-20. read more

Considering what it is (a family friendly lower cost alternative), the pizza was pretty decent. My only complaint is that the toppings were not very evenly distributed. It's a huge open space so I imagine it gets quite noisy, but it was relatively quiet when we were there. The servers in Medora are often a delight, as they come from all over the world. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean and well maintained. There aren't a lot of food options in Medora, so this is a solid choice. read more

Solid saloon for a pizza and a brew. We were in Medora visiting Theodore Roosevelt National Park and came out of the park thirsty and hungry. The service was quick, the beer was cold, and the pizza was pretty darn good. We went with a half cowboy combo, half cheese pizza. My kids wolfed down the cheese half, so I can't comment on it other than to say that they thought it was tasty. The cowboy combo has a flavor that really works so I strongly recommend going that route anyway. My only complaint was with the house salad. First, the vegetables in the salad were massive, so large that you had to eat the salad piece by piece and are unable to enjoy the mixture of vegetables that makes a salad great. Cut it up yourself, you say. Well, they give you a plastic butter knife with your meal so that's not really going to be a good option. Two broken knives in and I have to go it alone. The second problem I had with the salad is they must have made it six hours prior and left it in the fridge during the mean time. You know what I'm saying...the thing lacked freshness because, well, it wasn't fresh. But, hey, don't let a mediocre salad with jumbo pieces turn you away. I recommend the pizza and brew and, in a tiny town, there's not much competition. So, if you find a place that has good food, while not an overall home run, it's a go. Spacious restaurant - 90s country vibe. The food is OK. The cheese pizza was pretty good. The supreme was undercooked - I think the topping ratio was off. The crust is of average thickness. Not thin, not thick. The service was a bit of a disaster. The host/hostess was absent. We had to flag down someone to place an order and to pay. In fairness, it seemed like they were training a new staff. I imagine they will get better as they work out the service kinks. read more

It's a kitschy tourist trap with A-OK pizza and sub-par beer selection. The staff here are the best part, very bubbly and very kind! Beer selection is sparse, and much of it is not on tap. (weird for a place calling itself a "Saloon"?) I finally settled on a beer, and then they came out and told me they didn't have anymore of it. This is not only one of the only restaurants in town but one of the only restaurants for miles and hours of driving. Your options are very limited in Madora. The pizza was fine. Nothing special. I got a pepperoni for take out. The women working the front desk told me to come back in 20 minutes. I asked if I could sit inside in wait. It was heavily raining outside on Monday 6/17 in the afternoon. She said no, and that seats were for non take-out only. HOWEVER the restaurant was completely empty except for 2 other people sitting at one table. So I had to go wait in my car. I did not argue with her or ask her to make an exception for me because I know she's probably just doing what she is told. So to her bosses I say - what?? Why is this a rule!? I mean I would understand if it was busy. But it wasn't. I paid $18 for the most mediocre pizza I've ever had and couldn't sit down for a few minutes. read more

This used to be one of our favorite places to eat. They have now switched to a buffet. It seems to me like they are trying to mimic Pizza Ranch. At the buffet, the pizza was old and cold. Keep in mind this is a tourist town in north Dakota. All things considered, a decent dining option. This is a counter service type place where you fill your drink and pay at the register. Food came out quickly and the service was friendly. The cheesy bread sticks were a little dry and over priced, but still enjoyable. Salad was fresh and had a good mix of veggies. Pizza was decent- exceptionally greasy pepperoni and slight dry crust but overall decent flavor. This isn't New York, so be realistic. Overall a good option for a famiky meal. read more

Please, do yourself a favor and just don't. Even if you think you've tolerated bad pizza before and you THINK this can't be worse, you're wrong. The pizza was undercooked and tepid. The service staff were unfriendly, hesitating our request for extra napkins (we have a 9 year old) and pointing us to the napkins inside our plastic-ware packages. I never thought I'd long for ChuckECheese or a $5 box from Little Caesar's, but alas, either would have been preferred. We left without consuming more than half a piece each. We are on vacation, meeting up with family members in Medora, ND. This town is the quintessential tourist town and the gateway to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. We were the first to arrive in town and decided to walk around and get a bite to eat. Both me and my husband wanted something kind of light and thought a slice of pizza and salad sounded good. We ordered a kid sized pizza to share, which was actually pretty big (you only have two choices with kid's pizza--pepperoni and cheese) and two salads. This whole place has that Disney/tourist feel. I stopped by here earlier today with my wife and her parents for lunch. We were headed to Theodore Roosevelt National Park for the day and were in Medora around lunch time and so decided to stop. Since it was after Labor Day, a lot of the places were closed for the season but thankfully Badlands Pizza & Saloon was not. So we headed inside to a pretty large restaurant with only 1 other table occupied. I guess I see why things close for the season. Anyways there was a huge dining area in the front with both tables and booths and then a large bar in the back with "Badlands" above it. For lunch on this day my wife and I decided to split a house salad with balsamic dressing and then a 16" Janie Got a Gun. The menu describes the pizza as mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, pickled onions, pepperoncini, bell peppers, garlic oil, balsamic vinegar and cheese. Our salad came out first and looked quite good. That was mostly because they picked an artisanal type lettuce that looked and tasted fresh. The balsamic vinegar had a nice tang to it as well and since my body hadn't had many vegetables lately, it enjoyed the salad. After we had finished with that our server brought out our pizzas. Our pizza looked good and my first bite confirmed that it was. While the mushrooms added some earthiness it was the sun dried tomatoes which I think were the star. They added that nice tomato flavor with the pop of acidity. Meanwhile the garlic oil and pickled onions made their presence known as well. It was the pepperoncini and balsamic vinegar which I couldn't even really tell was on the pizza. I could certainly see both but just couldn't taste them. The cheese here was also good and the crust was nice and crispy throughout with the end being perfect. The bottom line for me is that I would come back here again in the future. Both my wife and I enjoyed both our pizza and salad, so why not. read more

Ordered the special chicken bacon ranch pizza and a balsamic one both on cauliflower. One was missing the bacon and chicken, the other was on gluten crust and missing balsamic. Staff was very nice and brought us out a brand new chicken pizza and we just asked for a side of balsamic because we were starving and didn't want to wait another 20-30 minutes. 3 stars for great service and correcting the mistake but the worst mess up I've ever had ordering pizza. Especially when the crust is wrong since I have celiac disease and that's a guaranteed stomach ache. It all cost $55 for 2 pizzas 2 sodas and tip but food itself was very average / below average. I was very impressed with the service. It was a hot day and we needed to sit outside so our dog wouldn't have to be in the car after we checked out of our hotel. We were sat outside and a waitress brought out a water bowl for our puppy. She wasn't even assigned to us. So sweet. Our waiter was a nice guy. The pizza was good. We stayed in Teddy for three days and needed a night of non-campfire food and this place hit the spot. It's a big, open space that's family-friendly. There's a decent beer menu and the pizza menu has the standards as well as a few interesting twists. We didn't feel out of place in our camping gear and it got us walking around town a bit to get here, so that was even better.
