Boots Bar & Grill was founded in 2009 by Morey Bang & Brad Skachenko. It's a must-stop American dining experience for all the locals & those passing through after hiking Theodore Roosevelt National Park. It's in the heart of Medora; a tourist attraction in North Dakota. They are known for a large selection of food from juicy Certified Angus Beef Steaks to burgers, homemade pizzas ... We started with a local Beaver Creek Golden Ale beer, which was refreshing. We each got a bison burger with fries. We were torn between elk or bison and we told that there isn't much of a difference in taste. Our burgers were sooo good , beer soooo cold, fries crispy perfection & Cody couldn't be more helpful & attentive !!!

The fish tacos were absolutely amazing- the sweet potato fries were overcooked. Hence the four stars instead of five. My husband had the tri-tip sandwich with fries and it was delicious as well. This definitely could have been five stars. If the sweet potato fries weren't burnt. Service was great. Definitely get a side of the white barbecue sauce to dip your fries in because it's so good.

My time at Boots is always wonderful! Excellent food, excellent service, and a fun atmosphere. Their pretzel + dip appetizer is to die for!! It used to come with Bloody Mary cream cheese, too (bring that back, please.) I am also a huge fan of their Brussels sprout tacos - yum!! Highly recommended. This restaurant is a gem in southwest North Dakota!

Stopped in for lunch after a busy morning of hiking and sight seeing at Theodore Roosevelt south unit. It was seat yourself and I found a spot at a high top table near the bar. Service was average, nothing over the top, got the job done. Definitely western theme inside with lots of tables. I had the Killdeer, which was their take on a Philly cheesesteak. The garlic aioli/sauce added a nice flavor. I do wish the steak was sliced thinner or smaller pieces, as it was tough to bite through and the entire strip would come out when attempting to take a bite. The sweet potato waffle fries were as expected. Would return to try other menu items as they had a good variety.

Average American restaurant but I would say one of the best in the area compared to other establishments my boyfriend and I walked by (other places were empty). We ordered the pulled pork quesadillas (they were ok) and I had my sirloin tips with fries (4 out of 5) and my boyfriend had a burger. The raspberry iced tea was pretty good though. The ambiance is what made it! Very casual feel with a variety of different people (kids, elderly). It gives a bar type of feel but really it's fairly family oriented.

On a dreary day we needed some lunch. Beer was cold. Plenty of seating and parking. We were greated and served promptly. Quesadillas were 5/5 Egg rolls 3/5 as they were too greasy for us. (But the dip was yummy)

The food was very good. The PB & Jelly Time burger was outstanding. The Killdeer sandwich and Loaded Mushroom Burger were also excellent.

It took the hostess/waitress a few minutes to seat us. Unfortunately, she was covering the whole upstairs dining area. My husband and I ordered cocktails. I ordered a mango daiquiri, but had little to no alcohol, but plenty of mango concentrate the color of the drink was not appealing. The appetizer we ordered was the fried pickle, which turned out to be an egg roll shaped dough with a pickle and cheese inside. Not what we were expecting, however, it was favorable. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries. The burger was tasty. However, the fries were too thin and overcooked . They charge extra for lettuce, tomato, and onion. My recommendation to management is to include that with the burger and charge a dollar more. My husband had the salmon which he felt could use more sauce, but enjoy his sides. I read a few reviews. I was very surprised on the replies given by management. They were not very nice. Reviews are for you to help your restaurant make better choices so your customers would want to return.

One obstacle was horseflies. Management should seriously consider placing portable fly swatters on each table to avoid their nuisance throughout your meal. Finally, while the cheeseburger was served a perfect medium-well done as requested, the French Fries were too thin and overcooked.

The Tuesday I got a hamburger and fries. Service was great, food came out fast and hot. It was really good. The Wednesday I ate at the bar section. I got a chicken sandwich with fries. That was pretty good too. Chicken was a little dry, but not like eating a cracker. Service was excellent both days. I ate here on a Friday at around 6pm. I took a seat, it's basically first come first serve. I sat in the dining area. I waited maybe 5 minutes for the waitress and she gave me my menu. I knew what I was going to eat, so I ordered a beer and water. Waitress came back and I placed my order. I got a 12oz sirloin with mixed vegetables. I also got the soup of the day, clam chowder. I thought clam chowder in Montana, this might be risky. Haha. Got my beer then clam chowder. It turned out ok. Then I proceeded to wait ~40 minutes to get my dinner. I almost left. I would have paid for the beer and chowder. I could hear a lot of chatter out of the kitchen and not good chatter. The kitchen was backing up and food was delayed. The kitchen was out of order. I felt bad for the waitress cause she was running all over the place. It wasn't her fault. When I went there during the week, the food was served in 10-15 minutes tops. Friday it was 40 minutes. Service was good. I did notice and hear some complaints amongst other guests. I remained cool, even though it had been a long two weeks. I did tip well cause I know the waitress was completely overwhelmed. My one option to this place is to hire a busboy to clean the plates up instead of the waitress doing it.
