As we entered we noticed a very well designed restaurant with cozy atmosphere! The staff were very nice and friendly which made the experience even better. When we were going to leave, they gave us some sort of a small drink that I have no idea what it was but it was very refreshing and delicious! Made a reservation as my friend said last time he came he could not eat because it was too busy. Place as 30% full Friday at 6:30PM - probably didn't need the reservation. Got the strawberry Soju. I loved it, friend did not. Tried the Baekjeong Combo for 2. Steamed egg was sooooo cool. Tasted pretty bland but presentation was 12/10. Stone/container keeps it hot for quite a while too! Tried the only soup that did not say spicy. 10/10 was good. Rice was good. Salad was good - I liked the dressing. Pickled ?daikon was 10/10 so great for cutting through all the meat flavor. Bean sprouts were just okay. Friend liked the sauerkraut but I did not. Broccoli was very nice to grill. Marinated raw Onion was good (better slightly warmed on the grill). Marinated pork was my favorite. Pork belly was good. The super thinly sliced was one was my least favorite. Hard to cook and shrivels up too much. The super thick cuts I also did not like as I found it too chewy but honestly that could just be my cooking skills. Grill was swapped out 3 times during our 1.5hr experience. Ate 100% of everything But only 50% of the egg, and 10% of the bean sprouts (2 very hungry people). Overall what a fun experience. But I like Gyu-Kaku more (Better price for same experience and I like the marinated cheap meats better than the expensive cuts). read more

One of our favourite interactive meals, Korean BBQ is so good & a fun way to enjoy a meal (especially after watching a bunch of k-dramas!) When we crave it, this is always a great option for their high quality meats and super flavourful soups and sides. We ordered the pre-set combo for 4 since it offered a huge feast without us having to make too many decisions. It comes with salad, sides, soup (we chose a spicy soup base with soft tofu & seafood), rice, lettuce for wraps and soooo many kinds of meat for grilling. The meats were fabulous - tender, flavourful, fresh. To wash it down, we had Korean wines - a sweet black raspberry wine that comes in sparkling and non, and went dangerously well with the food. It's not AYCE so it may feel pricey, but the quality of the meat is much better than other kbbq spots in the city. read more

Baekjeong has always been one of my favourite places for Korean BBQ. It's been a while since I've been here, and it looks like a few things have changed, most notably their menu options and the grill. I remember their booths used to have recommended cooking methods and when to turn down the heat, but I see that's gone now, which is too bad because I found those tips really helpful. We recently visited as a party of four on a Sunday afternoon; we had made a reservation, but many people who didn't were still able to be seated right away. Parking is ample as it's located in a bigger street mall with plenty of space. I usually don't love the service here, but this time around, we had a very friendly and kind server who did a great job checking in on us, even when we didn't ring the bell. I wish I could remember her name so I can give a shoutout! Bring your appetite! They have combos recommended for a certain number of people, but this is really deceiving as they are generous on their portions. I'm quite certain you can easily feed one other person than the number of people you ordered for. We ordered a combo for 3, and our fourth person ordered their featured galbi soup. The three of us are relatively good eaters and came in very hungry; even with our fourth person helping us out, we still had leftovers to bring home! The combo not only comes with an assortment of meat, but also rice, your choice of soup from M5 - M13, and steamed egg or corn cheese. We opted for the M5: Haemul Soontubu (asked for it to be mild) and corn cheese. Even though we asked for a milder version of the soup, it still came out extremely spicy, but packed with flavour. We do wish it was even milder though, as the kick was really strong for us and made it hard to thoroughly enjoy the soup. Their corn cheese was delicious as always, with a perfect balance of sweet and savory, plus a great cheese pull! They are very generous with the side dishes too, and it's great that you can ask for unlimited refills; I especially enjoy their salad and pickled onion. This place is quite pricy, but definitely worth it for the quality of deliciously marbled meat. Amazing meal, a little pricey, disappointing service. The food quality was quite good. The bahnchan side dishes were tasty but not great variety. The four complimentary sides were kimchi, seasoned soybean sprouts, sliced pickled radish, and salad. We ordered the BaekJeong combo for 3, the seafood pancake, and the green onion salad, and one pitcher of kokanee. This fed the table of 6 adults and we were all full. The combo comes with 5 different meats, one soup of your choice (kimchi soup), rice (3), and an optional side dish (we ordered the cheese corn). Korean restaurants have a button at each table that beeps at the server station so they know which table needs assistance but every time I pressed it not a single server arrived. I even watched the server station to ensure that the button was working. I had to flag down a server every time we needed something. This is frustrating, what is the point of the button? When you have a party of 6 or more there is an automatic gratuity of 15% added. The bill was $250 all in. This ends up being just over $40 per person which is high in my opinion because there wasn't a bunch of drinks, just one pitcher of beer. It's definitely a treat to eat here and I'll keep it for special occasions. read more

I don't often eat beef, so we went with a set menu mostly consisting of marinated pork. The set menu also comes with your choice of soup, your choice of corn cheese or steamed egg and steamed rice. We went on a Wednesday night when they have 50% off pork belly and we definitely ordered lots of it! Very high end quality cuts of meat and definitely on the pricier side, but it was worth it. The meat was marinated very well and tasted so good. I like a little bit of the burnt or charr on my grilled meats, so I left it on the grill a bit longer. Refillable sides, salad and lettuce to wrap your grilled meats with. You also get the ssamjang set and dipping set that comes with sweet chili sauce, coarse sea salt and sesame oil to dip your grilled meats with. To assemble, grill your meat, grab a piece of lettuce, add a bit of the ssamjang onto the lettuce, dip your grilled meat in some salt and sesame oil and add that to your lettuce, wrap it up and just put the whole thing in your mouth. Came to celebrate my mom's birthday. Tried to book online using their website two weeks before and the system said all full. We would either have to eat at 830pm or nothing. Seemed strange to me so I called and they were able to book me in. We ordered the Baekjeong combo for 4 knowing it would be a lot of food, but my husband wanted the rib eye steak. It turns out it was very chewy ribeye cut and we all preferred the marinated cuts. We enjoyed the sides of pickled onions, daikons, Kim chi and bean sprouts. We were also served large lettuce leaves so we could wrap our meat and eat it with. Salad was included in our meal combo as well and was refillable. The service could be slightly improved upon. The table is small and our waitress never cleared any of our finished dishes. There is a call bell on the table to ring but we had to ring it for water refills. Upon asking for takeout containers to package up our vast amount of leftovers, she brought us the containers but we then had to ring again for the bill. The atmosphere was nice as we had a booth to ourselves. Would definitely recommend and come again but order less food! read more

This place was so good. I went with a total of 4 people so naturally we ordered the 4 person baekjeong meal. It is definitely pricey compared to other Korean bbqs in the city but the quality and quantity of food was great. This turned out to be soooo much food! Everything tasted great. Particularly liked the marinated meats and the steak which we reserved for the end of the meal. The unlimited lettuce and banchan were great. Would have loved to have more rice with the meal included though. The 4 person combo turned out to be way more food than we needed. In the future when we return (and we definitely will!) we'll probably just order a 2 person meal and add on some of the other dishes available so that we can try out more of the menu read more

I tried Baekjong for the first time last night. My friend recommended it. I have to admit that I was pretty impressed with the service and the food. One thing that I am glad we did was make reservations. We booked for a later dinner, around 7:30 p.m. yet the place was pretty packed when we got there. I believe for people that did not make any reservations, the wait was about 30-45 minutes. When we got there, we waited for 10 mins for them to clear our table and got seated immediately. The menu was very good with many Korean grill options. This place is legit!!!!!! We ordered C1 which contained various slices of beef (brisket, short rib, rib finger, rib eye steak) with steamed egg, beef sausage and tofu soup with the P2 which was pork shoulder off the menu. When the meat came it, it looked amazing and you could tell the meat was very good quality. I loved that there was a call button in each of the tables and booths so that you could get service right at your table if you ever needed a refill or service. The staff was very quick and prompt and courteous. Overall the experience was positive and the food was delicious with great variety of daikon on the side to pair. One thing is if you're planning to go around dinner time, make a reservation. You will not regret it! read more

Amazing service the food was so delicious we were so impressed. We live in Vancouver now so coming back to Edmonton we wanted to check out this new joint. This place is legit!! Went for the all beef platter because it was only appropriate in Alberta to eat Alberta beef. Opted for the $85 one and we both and were afraid it wouldn't be enough but it was!!! I did end up having to package some to take home. Servers seem to all be fluent in both English and Korean. No to mention they're fast friendly and polite. Remember to ring the service bell if you noticed nobody's coming by your table! They come when you call on them, just the way it works in most authentic Korean places. For the grill, you can either choose between pre-set meats (beef or pork/ beef combos) or can pick and choose from the meat plates (min 2 plates to start the grill). It was kind of hard to determine how much food was needed for the 2 of us so I had to ask the waiter for some guidance. The menus details was not helpful to gauge quantity. The pre-set meat combos come with soup included so we opted for that - $85 beef combination, apparently good for 2 ppl. The portion was appropriate for the 2 of us, along with the unlimited salad/ pickled sides. We left satisfied. The beef was good, and soup & steamed egg were nice additions. Honestly I love the concept and idea of this restaurant but I can't justify how expensive it is for how little meat you get. You have to place a minimum order of 2 meats if you order through a la carte and decide not to go through the set menu options (which I also feel is not enough food for how much you're paying). I always end up leaving hungry and always pay over $100 for two people without tip. My favourite cut is the short rib finger, but, also very expensive. It's nice to visit on a special date, but the cuts are very small. The combos are good to order if you aren't that hungry. The redeemable qualities are the sides that you get, which help fill you up a bit. I really enjoy the salad that they give as the dressing is refreshing and helps cut the grease from the meat. read more

Got there as it opened (5pm as reservations not available) and were about 40+ people deep. We were in line for 35 min (expected). After being seated, we learned there's no complimentary tea. Just water, both hot and cold. The Banchan was limited to 5 options and refills weren't readily offered. When asked, the server may have forgotten, mind you she was serving 4 tables. We ordered the large combo (ribeye, sliced pork, and marinated beef), but feel for the $140 price, the portions could've been bigger. The quality of the meat was par for the course. Nothing exceptional. I feel this restaurant is on par with Exit 5 for a young hip crowd. I feel it wasn't worth the hype. read more

Please don't mistaken the bowl of lettuce as salad, it's used for pairing your meat and holding your meat/sauces. Don't expect to fill up for $45 plus taxes. We made reservation at 6pm on a Friday and we are happy we did! when we got there it was not too busy but give it 15-30 min and it was full! They offer set meals which looks very attractive but you don't get options! The set meals are either all beef or all pork.... I want both! so the set menu does not attract me at all! Also i did the math on what you get and it is the same price if you ordered separately. I could be wrong. Instead we ordered 2 beef dishes and one pork dish, two mains and one side. With each meat dish it comes with onion and one king mushroom for you the grill. For the beef we love the short rib B2, the marinate was flavourful and you have to give it a bit of a char and it is perfection! For the pork we got P5, thin slice of pork belly, awesome with lettuce and some small sides. When we got our meat we found out it does not come with rice, if you want rice you should order a soup main. For the side we tried the kim chi dumpling and it was good! didn't have too much kim chi taste but was good overall. The cold noodle we order was very refreshing and would order this again on a hot day! Side dishes, salad, and lettuce are unlimited refills without any questions. They also have a service button to get their attention! They get busy but when you press the button someone will help you right away! Overall for the 4 of us, the bill came to $130 before tip. The rich scent of bbq meat draws you into the door like a siren's song. That said, bring along a coat and wear an outfit that washes readily as you, your hair and all your clothes will smell of delicious delicious BBQ meat when you leave. A medium BBQ grill is inset into each table to facilitate grilling, with warm woods, dark accents lending a welcoming feel. The resturant is kid friendly, but as the BBQ grill is open to air and insert into center of table, would be wise for any parent to keep little fingers and any horseplay far from the grill. Service is friendly, informative and super efficient. The resturant is owned by same owner as the Korean resturant Dookbaeki attached to the back, share a kitchen and subsequently, many cooked items from its sister restaurant is available here. Since it was just the two of us plus our little one, we got the 2 person BBQ combo and steamed dumplings. We started with a simple green salad dressed with a tangy raspberry vinaigrette. The combo included a large platter of assorted cuts of beef and a slab of prime rib steak to be grilled and served as it or dressed up with a myriad of toppings like jalapeno, shaved garlic, onion salad, and sauces: soy mayo, sweet chili, sesame with salt flakes, Ssamjang - mixture of Gochujang(Korean red pepper paste) and Doenjang (Korean soybean paste) and is absolutely delicious!!! Its also not as crazy spicy as it normally is at other restaurants which is a nice change to taste the sauce vs uaving your entire palate set on fire. Feel free to wrap the grilled meat in some romaine lettuce plus/minus grilled veges (onion, king mushroom, or marinated raw onion salad), toppings and sauces and repeat until full! Make sure you use the disposable wooden chopsticks to handle the raw meat and the metal tongs for flipping the grilling meat so you minimize cross contamination. We went with the Korean bean curd soup which was chock full of mushrooms, earthy, savory and a bit of heat from some sliced jalapenos. The steamed egg was interesting and the unique taste grew on us as we ate more of it. The egg mixture is steamed in a hot stone bowl, so it takes on a charcoal flavor infused throughout it as it continues to get heated by the stone bowl. We never did see where the beef sausage went as I think the waitstaff forgot to bring it out, but we were pretty full and didnt remember it was part of the combo until we were waddling out the door. Maybe we'll have a chance to try the sausage next time. But we'll bring more friends and family so we can try a bigger selection of the menu... and wearing looser clothing lol!! read more

The food was extremely average tasting, with incredibly high prices for what you're getting! We are from Calgary and thought this would be a good place to try (since we have 2 young toddlers). The service was good, but here are the negatives: - the meat for grilling was not seasoned or marinated, and the sauces for dipping were bland. The meat option we ordered was $85 and it was definitely not worth that amount for the quantity and quality of meat included and the lack of taste. - we ordered a dolsot bibimbap with beef and received only the vegetable bibimbap. We advised our server, who was apologetic and said he could make us a new one with beef. We said it was fine, thinking they would at least charge us only the vegetable bibimbap (since the beef version cost more). They still charged us the beef bibimbap but I didn't realize it until after we already paid the bill. - they charged an automatic 15% gratuity because we had 7 people in total; however, 2 of the 7 were toddlers and sat in high chairs. We were also not advised of the automatic gratuity and were given no option but to pay it. I'm sure there are excellent Korean restaurants to eat at in Edmonton, but this unfortunately, is not one of them. Please save your money and go elsewhere! read more

Had the yook hwe, and while it looked kinda fucking gross, it was so damn good. Had some pears to add some flavor with the yolk and raw beef but damn, what a good dish. Seafood pancake was really good here. Like every bite had seafood in it, it was something you always expect and this place actually delivered. Gyeranjjim was ok, good filler for all the meats. It was just egg steamed in those small pots, like custard with scallions on top. The kimchi jjigae was hot and wasn't as flavorful as I expected. Kinda tasted, to me at least, to be on the tomatoey side? Idk. Expensive though for a small soup/stew. All the cuts of meat provided were pretty tasty, if cooked right. Pro Tip, the middle part of the grill is the coolest so put all the cooked meats there. Also bring a friend who likes to cook the meat for you. Along with the assortment of meat there was sides for dipping the meat, but my fave is salt. The banchan was also free so eating all the kimchi was good times along with the nonstop lettuce for making lettuce wraps. Located on Calgary trail near 23rd ave, this place is going to be pretty packed for a while. Service is standard Korean, press the call button, and someone shows up. While most of the cooked dishes were above average, the pricing on the raw meat was a little pricey.
