Bacon, egg, & cheese on a poppy seed bagel
Jay B.

If somebody told you these weren't legit NY style bagels, if somebody told you this is just another average bagel shop in the midst of many, somebody lied. Okay. I'll admit that at first glance, the prices may seem pretty steep. But if you knew how hard to come by legit NY style bagel sandwiches are (lest you're actually...*in* NY), you'd understand. What I like about these sandwiches is how the portion sizes are just enough not to be too overwhelming. Granted, you're paying the price of an entire breakfast plate, you're getting just as much in quality. We're talkin' REAL egg, loads of bacon or....whatever breakfast pork you fancy, and a real good taste and flavor. Basically, they don't skimp on the innards of these breakfast sandwiches, unlike a lot of other chain restaurants that feature some kind of egg substitute. Now that we're here, I'll likely never order another bagel sandwich from the likes of Dunkin Donuts again. So, onto the two things I like least about this place.. 1.) They boil their coffee. Yes. Don't ask me WHY places do this. But theirs is a heat fierce enough to pierce through flesh, bone, and two layers of cardboard, evidently. It boggles the mind. 2.) They're parking lot is cramp. Like....cramp enough to give you claustrophobia. This is a point worth mentioning, because I swear I had at least 3 cars almost hit me WHILE I WAS STILL PARKED! Seriously, this lot is so small, you'll need to do a 6 point turn just to change direction. But at least the big sign out front makes this place easy as hell to find. Conveniently located near the highway, I could see myself stopping by here on the way to work one day. At any rate, it's a must visit and I'm recommending them to everyone. Bagel Cafe is worth 5 NY style bacon, egg & cheese poppy seed bagel sandwiches out of 5.

Great bagels, fresh ingredients, quick service & good prices. Really can't beat this place for a bagel sando.

Bagel was hard and meat was greasy. Not a horrible sandwich but absolutely not worth the $7.50 they charge for it. Probably won't be back.

These are the best bagels. Won't go anywhere else for bagels in the area. Try the everything bagel with bacon and scallion cream cheese!

Freshest bagels around. Always good service. The bacon, egg and cheese on an Everything bagel is my go to. Delish.

Tavern in the Square

We visited Tavern in the Square in Bedford NH late last night. It was our first time at this…read morespecific spot despite being frequent customers at many of their other Massachusetts locations. To say the experience was beyond disappointing in an understatement. To be clear, this review is not about the food. As loyal customers who visit Tavern in the Square often we already know and enjoy the menu. The bartender was polite and pleasant throughout the interaction, despite overcharging for food and drinks we did not order. However, the situation overall was extremely uncomfortable and disappointing. We ordered one beer and a green tea shot and before we even finished the drink we were abruptly told we were "cut off". This made absolutely no sense. We were not intoxicated and had barely even started our drinks. When we asked to speak with management the only explanation we were given was that they have had fights there before. That reasoning is COMPLETELY illogical what does that have to do with us as individuals? If that is truly their policy then why was not everyone else at the bar treated the same way? We tried multiple times speaking with the waitress and management to get a clear and consistent answer, but no one could provide one. The responses were vague inconsistent and frankly concerning. At that point we could not help but question whether we were being singled out unfairly. When we raised that concern the staff could not provide any reassurance or clarification they simply avoided the question. For context, we are loyal Tavern in the Square customers and have made over 80 reservations at various locations since January of this year. We have NEVER experienced anything like this before at any of the MA locations. This situation was embarrassing, confusing, and unacceptable. We will NEVER return to this location. Based on this experience we do not recommend this location to others given our concerns about fairness and how we were treated. I have reached out and expect a clear response from corporate explaining what happened here.

I'm very disappointed with the experience my group had. We felt singled out and unwelcome,…read moreespecially because we were the only Asian customers there. Being asked to leave made us feel uncomfortable and embarrassed, and it honestly came across as discriminatory. Looking around the room, it was impossible not to notice that we were the only Asian party in the establishment. The lack of a clear, valid reason for being "cut off"--while other customers nearby were treated with standard hospitality--left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. We expected a professional environment, but instead, we were met with treatment that felt discriminatory. I cannot recommend a place that makes guests feel uncomfortable or targeted based on their background. Truly a shameful way to run a business.
