You can get either of the pies to take away for a dollar cheaper than dining in (that's what I did). They have other food, too, and bread to take home, but I haven't tried it. Service here is always friendly and relatively fast. The atmosphere is cheerful but there's not much seating inside so it definitely feels like more of a take-away joint than a sit-down cafe, unless you sit out front on a nice sunny day. Also, you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the toilet, which is a bit awkward. I think this place would benefit hugely from a different fit-out, especially if they managed to get a courtyard in there, to make it a bit more welcoming for people who want to linger over their food and coffee. Nevertheless, one of the best cafes in the area.

When I'm prepared to take the gluten risk, their spelt loaves are doughy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. I deeply suspect they fill their jam with crack too. It's the only explanation I can think of for it just being so incredibly tasty and moreish. If you're prepared to play coffee roulette, by all means give it a go - some days it's great, some days it's... well, bloody awful. Whatever you do though, don't leave without something freshly baked. In most cases the bread is still warm from the oven for that warm goodness feeling.

Whilst the filling had flavour the heat of the chicken mix left the lettuce leaf revoltingly soggy & it all required deconstructing in order to eat it. It was not a nice dining experience. At $10 I feel that the bagel was overpriced especially when I think of the other great quality food I've had recently for the same price.

I wasn't a fan of the service as the workers weren't friendly and we had to ask what the prices were for everything. Not sure on the exact prices but the bagels are in the $1.20 to $2.00 AUD range. - Challa bread ($5.00 AUD) - we originally were going to get a loaf but they don't cut the whole ones for you. Luckily, they have some pre-cut in the bread section. The challa bread was fantastic. Fresh, soft and tasty. I'd come back just for this. - Plain bagel ($1.20 AUD) - Everything bagel ($2.00 AUD) - 2x sesame bagel ($1.20 AUD each) - obviously, you need to order and try sesame as the standard for all things bagel. - 2x round buns ($0.85 AUD) - we used these to make sandwiches. These aren't real bagels but for Australia, they do the job. Lots of other bakeries in Balaclava so on to the next one.

It's located at Little Collins/Russell. I tried their ham & cheese croissant. The appearance wasn't so great as it looked a bit flat, but the texture was nicely chewy, and the flavor from the ham & cheese was perfect. I wish I had found this place a lot sooner.
