There was a location super close to our hotel and we are always more into quick and easy breakfast when we travel. The first day - we ordered take away and I got a sesame bagel with plain cream cheese and their sweet iced coffee. It was VERY sweet. The bagel was crispy on the outside but still soft and chewy inside. Very good. So good that we went the next day but this time to sit in. I ordered a chai latte. It was just like Starbucks which is usually the place I like it from the best. I got an everything bagel this time. They also have flavored cream cheeses. I also had orange juice. Not sure why Yelp is showing this as closed for business, since I am typing this review from a chair within the coffee shop while having a chai latte and a bagel. Now that I have established this as being an open business, I would like to give it a glowing review. Inside is a nice welcoming environment that is perfect to sit down, relax, and have a coffee. The service was friendly and listening to the banter between the employees was entertaining. As to the coffee and bagel, they were good. I was so so happy when I found this cafe (and the subsequent locations around the city). I had been ordering dry toast for breakfast (topped with a flourish of table salt and pepper) in Amsterdam, so to stumble on a place that has tea, coffee, bagels, veggies, and WiFi made my day. Made many days, in fact: I ate at one location or another probably five times during the week I was in Amsterdam. I always ordered the same thing: an everything bagel with mixed greens, avocado & tomato, and I subbed hummus for cream cheese. The avocado was always at least half, the tomatoes were so ripe and juicy I ate them even though I usually turn up nose at 'em, and the hummus is creamy and mellow (not too tahini-i). Indeed, the whole bagel sandwich was always just so good and filling. The coffee is always good--I've had it black and had it in foamy latte form, and they offer soymilk, too. This place (I've seen over 10 locations now) is a great spot to grab a bite while travling for breakfast or lunch and check in with the rest of the world via the free wifi. read more

This is a must visit if you enjoy coffee, tea, bagels, and trying new things. The prices are just what you'd expect, if not perfect for the amazing quality of the food and service. Some of the friendliest employees I've met on my trip and they have these delicious coffee bean shaped chocolates for free when you sit down, but be warned they are addicting! We ordered a large Mochaccino (I do mean large!) for 4,05 Eur, as well as an absolutely amazing tea (Chai Mogli). Finally, we ordered something that really just caught our attention, I'm always looking for new and bizarre things to eat and this really hit the spot. A bug bagel with dried crickets and mealworms tossed in an exquisite lime chili powder on a tomato bagel with some pesto and avocado. I know it sounds like something out of a 5 star restaurant from the show Survivor but I'm telling you it was one of the best bagels I've ever had. 11/10 and I'm planning on coming back tomorrow to try more of their menu. read more

On a short visit to Amsterdam, a few friends invited us to Bagels & Beans for a quick breakfast. Needless to say, it was a great start to our getaway weekend. The restaurants posts a wide variety of bagels and options. Although the bagels are of your usual variety (everything, poppy seed, sesame, etc.), they do have other options such a gluten free bagels. The variety of toppings is really where this spot shines. They offer the basic toppings, such as BLT, to more extravagant ones, such a goat cheese with honey and nuts. I myself had goat cheese with bacon and nuts. The goat cheese was piled on thick and the bacon was cooked to my liking. Overall, the service was quick and friendly. We were out of there within 1 hour (took a little longer because the gluten free bagels take longer to make). I would definitely recommend Bagels & Beans to anyone who is in the Amsterdam area. read more

TL;DR - Bagels and coffee - it does what it says on the tin. On a rainy day in Amsterdam we just wanted a quick bite and a warm drink. This place was fairly busy so we decided to try it out. The layout is a bit awkward (the building's fault, not the cafe's!) but we managed to find a seat (although it turns out there's a whole load more seating downstairs which wasn't immediately obvious). We ordered a couple of lattes and some bagels at the counter - the coffees were absolutely huge! They were nice - not the best coffee I've ever had, nor was it the worst. Nothing to complain about, but also nothing to write home about. The bagels were great value - huge and loaded with food, but a little bit tricky to eat because the plates were small and everything was falling out. They were very tasty though and hit the spot. This place isn't especially Dutch and isn't an absolutely amazing experience, but was quite acceptable and I'd happily come back again. read more

The overall experience of the food was very good (cinnamon begal with honey walnut cream cheese). I´d like to start with that. Taking the food out of the equation, I wasn´t very pleased with my visit. The service was SO SLOW. There were only two people working during the morning rush. We had to take the food to go because we would have been late for our tour. My coffee with a shot of caramel was lacking in the caramel taste. The A/C was on and it was very chilly. The place is small and in early April, it´s still chilly outside. To top it off, there was no toilet paper in the bathroom. read more

The service is slow, the tables are filthy, the staff are rude and incompetent. We waited 20mins for three coffees and a bagel. The order came out wrong. Instead of rectifying it, the waitress argued with us and turned her back. A waste of time and money, and the coffee and food weren't particularly good. Update: they tried to charge us for the more expensive meal we actually ordered, AND they have no soap in the bathrooms. Ugh. read more

These bagels are amazing!! I had one with avocado, tomato, lettuce, and yummy cream cheese. We walked past it after seeing the Anne Frank House and the aroma drew us in. The upstairs is tight for sitting, but still enjoyable. There is a basement that has plenty of extra seating and restrooms. The coffee was good and there were coffee bean shaped chocolates in small bowls on the table. Ours were gone in a matter of seconds. This is a great chain and I liked the staff and the location of this store in particular. read more

The place was crowded when we entered - not uncommon. We sit down, give our order, and are promptly forgotten. I am then literally SHOWERED IN BROKEN GLASS, with only blank stares from the incompetant staff as consolation. We were asked our order again, since it was forgotten. We recieved and ate our food after another long wait. I shook my coat free from its fine layer of shattered glass and promised myself i would never come. I recommend you do the same. read more

Yummy place and pretty good pricing. I ordered the BLT on the everything bagel and it was SO good. Perfectly toasted bagel piled high with bacon (I think it was like Canadian bacon - not crispy, and more ham-like, but still very good), a mix of different greens and a thick slice of tomato, topped with mayo and pine nuts. I don't like mayo, so I scraped it off, but otherwise, it was a great sandwich paired with freshly squeezed orange juice. There's also free wifi and the service was great. A great little place to hang out or get a meal. I had a very good everything bagel with avocado, chicken and pesto. They have free wifi. Since it was a cold day, I really appreciated that it was nice and warm with good humidity. My wife and I live in Germany so we totally understand things are just different in Europe and we completely appreciate the slower lifestyle. However, this place is for snails. The service is. so. slow. 15 minutes pass before we're noticed in this tiny cafe (after we were told to sit wherever we'd like), our first and only table visit was a server bringing us someone else's order, we then said we haven't been helped at all which was met with crickets. That was it. Another 15 minutes go by as we see others being greeted and served before our patience ran out and we left grumpy and hungry. Don't bother waving down a server.
