Chocolate croissant, butter croissants and jam

The pastries are smaller, but they have so much flavor and they are crispy. I'd rather have one of these per year than unlimited ones from Costco. The jam is great too. It's kid friendly and the baker is downstairs so you can see her making break and pastries. We are definitely coming back this week

Yummy apple croissants and many other choices. The lemon tart was amazing. Coffee and espresso was everything Starbucks tries to be and fails at getting to. A wonderful start to our day in Amsterdam.

Tiny bakery with a solid charcuterie option to settle down with after traipsing around the tourist pack. Sold, warm, both crunchy and squeezy bread to slather in fig spread and munch out your "I have to go back to work soon, yuck" woes. Definitely stop in and sit up in the back so you can people watch AND have a conversation.

Great fresh croissants. Go early because they sell out. I also got their brie sandwich to go and it was really good. Cute little bakery that gets packed quick.

Definitely recommend a stop here! The salad and bread was perfect after going out the night before. The waiter was quick to wipe down a table for us, and took our drink order right away. He came back in a few minutes with our coffee and took our food order. The salad was amazing, loved the big slices of chèvre along with the fig balsamic dressing and toasted walnuts. I would have loved to spend a couple hours there and have another coffee, people watch and enjoyed a pastry or two! I ended up buying a fruit tartlette and a small "choux a la creme" for our train ride to Paris. Pay at the cash register. Great service!

Today my sister and I went to this place to have lunch. It was nice because it was an early lunch so the breakfast card was still available (until 12) but the lunch menu was available as well (starts at 11). We were lucky because it wasn't very busy and the were a few good spots left in the lunchroom. I decided to go with a scone with crème fraiche and jam, and brioche with jam, together a cappuccino. It took the waitress a longgg while to take our order. She was totally ignoring us, since she helped other people and cleaned all the tables. I had to call her in the end, very annoying. She even sounded irritated when I did this. okayyy, not a good start. The food and drinks arrived quickly though and were really good. I really like my scone! nomnom. I already decided not to get to irritated so my time here wasn't ruined so I quite enjoyed the lunch. The place also looks nice and has a beautiful and high ceiling. When I went to the counter to pay and I asked if we could pay separately, this seemed to be a huge problem..??? So I just paid and gave no tip. This kind of staff really dissapoints me. Ignoring and makes such problems out of nothing, why??? Don't you like the fact that you work in such a lovely bakery???? Totally lame. I did really like their stuff and the things I did not try also looked great so I will be back, for take-away or maybe give the lunchroom another try. We will see how that goes...

A great find (thanks, Yelp) when I was on a work day trip to Amsterdam. I stopped here on a rainy day, only to find this warm, cosy and friendly bakery. I checked my emails whilst enjoying an amazing latte with a rhubarb tart. Props to the owner for suggesting the tart when I was umming and aaahing. It was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend trying it (it doesn't look all that special, but IT IS!) I like the decor here, it's simple but spacious (a rarity for cafes in Amsterdam which are normally beyond cosy). I like that you can see into the bakery downstairs and see what's happening there. I will hunt this place out again to try out the proper meal offerings next time I'm in town.

It always amazes me how many gems are to be found in tourist alley. This French oriented bakery is definitely one of them. I for one am totally hooked on their walnut-fig bread but they have tons of other delicious pastries and bread. Take some of the gold home or to your hotel, go for lunch or go for breakfast....doesn't matter: just go :-)

For me, they were some kind of strange thin crispy cracker with a layer of caramel. Nothing great. So when I saw this "freshly made" stroopwaffle store I had to stop in and see if I was really missing something. Yes, yes I was. These are downright delicious. They make them on the spot and you get it warm with the center slightly gooey. It's nothing short of amazing. I ate mine and most of another one my friend didn't want to finish (not that she didn't love it - she's trying to stay away from sugar). It's a good thing I don't live in Amsterdam as I would want to stop here all the time. I apologized to my Dutch friend and shared that I was a convert. He heartily agrees fresh made are best. If you're near, go get one... or two!

Service was very quick considering it's fresh! The stroopwafel was perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and chewy in the middle, with warm, gooey caramel that paired so well with the fresh strawberries. The combination was simple but the quality of the ingredients are top notch.

There were cannolis, cream puffs, cookies, donuts, cakes, macarons and there were also sandwiches and pizza type breads. We bought a cream puff with Bavian cream, a chocolate covered cream puff with the standard cream filing and a chocolate covered croissant. Everyone was happy with their purchases and I was especially happy with my cream puff with the Bavian cream. The surrounding cake was light and airy and the cream was delicious; not quite whipped cream (like American version) but like a combination of whipped cream and vanilla custard. The filling was very light and the entire pastry did not leave any heavy feeling at all. The 2 chocolate pastries were consumed without complaints. The chocolate croissant I noticed, was completely dipped in chocolate rather than a croissant that has chocolate inside. This bakery lives up to its c'est magnifique name!

You have set the bar for every patisserie and croissanterie I visit from now on. MY GOODNESS. I don't even know where to start. I visited you more times than I care to admit. And each time, your fruit tartes, custard croissants, crumble cakes, and cappuccinos made me dread the day I was to leave Amsterdam. For I knew no other place would ever compare. This small, unassuming place is located smack in the middle of the bustling Leidsestraat shopping district. The glass counter houses a plethora of sweet goodness (see my pics). The same girl was there each day making coffee and running back and forth from the kitchen in the back. Pastries are made fresh multiple times a day so everything is always fresh. Once you grab your order, there is a long table with stools that runs along the right wall. The smell of ground coffee beans and fresh baked bread filled the air, and spilled onto the street making it impossible to pass by without stopping in. They are open until at least 10pm but I'm not sure of their exact hours. And they open early too. Sweet, sweet danger. I am saddened that you are so far away from me. *insert sad face here*
