The delightful Prosciutto di Monastero bagel! Welcome to flavortown. :)

I discovered this place while staying at the Room Mate Aitana across the road. I was so glad to find it on our first day, because during our entire week-long stay, we went here almost daily for breakfast. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere is oh-so-cosy! But, the bagels - my god - THE BAGELS! All the ingredients were so fresh and flavorful, I hardly wanted to eat anything other than bagel sandwiches on this trip! This is simply a must-try!

2 stars is for food and the amazing view, -3 stars for terrible service. Probably the slowest in the city! Waiting 75 minutes for 2 bagels is ridiculous. Also apparently their staff don't like to clean tables, plates remain on tables long after a customer is left so bring your wipes and get cleaning yourself!

This place is no doubt but my favorite cafe in Amsterdam. Peaceful, quiet and yet full of energy - a perfect place to reflect and observe the surroundings during our seemingly busy life. I can't wait to be back here again, sipping on my morning latte and enjoying my whole wheat bagel toasted with honey & walnut cream cheese! P/S a little side note to add, Ronald (I think he's the owner) uses John Lennon's famous quote, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans" in his welcoming message, so let's start our day by living at the moment today, shall we?

Bagels and Beans is an old favorite, and the new branch is beautiful, with a view to beat the fanciest place! We were greeted by the friendly staff and given some great news: they open at 7am everyday! This could be our weekly breakfast date before we pedal off to work!

Took over 20 minutes to get a plain bagel w cream cheese. Way too long to wait for a simple bagel. I will not be coming back

While it functions as a cozy, traditional Dutch brown café, virtually everyone comes here for one main reason: the famous Dutch apple pie (*appeltaart*). It completely lives up to the reputation. Served warm with a massive dollop of fresh whipped cream, it's thick, perfectly spiced, and has an almost cake-like crust that sets it apart. Pairing a slice with a fresh mint tea is pretty much mandatory. Because of its status and location, it's almost always buzzing with people--especially on market days--but the staff manages the perpetual queue remarkably fast. Snagging a table on the outdoor terrace for some people-watching along the canal is hard to beat. Whether you're taking visitors around the neighborhood or just out exploring the Jordaan.

I'd say about 95% of the people were ordering the apple pie, so of course we had to get one to see what the hype was about. The apple pie is pretty unique, it's basically a big chunk of cooked apple topped with a sweet, crumbly cookie like crust. The flavor reminded me of those little brown biscuits you get as airplane snacks... basically Biscoff cookies. lol!!! Overall, you really taste the natural apple flavor along with that Biscoff like cookie flavor. The pie itself isn't very sweet, which I actually liked, but adding some whipped cream definitely brings up the sweetness and makes it even better. The setup is pretty straightforward: get in line, order and pay, pick up your food, then find your own seat. It's definitely a popular spot, so be prepared for the crowd and a bit of a wait.
