There was already a line forming when I got there so between waiting in line and to getting my food I'd say it took approximately 8-10 minutes. This can be totally overcome my ordering online! Great restrictions in place in regards to following the guidelines for COVID19; with only 3 people allowed in the store. We got: 1. Lox & Cream Cheese on Sesame Seed Bagel: This was yummy! The bagel itself was very similar to the ones from Montreal. I hope to find a little more lox on the bagels in the future though 2. Montreal Smoked Meat on a Everything Bagel: This is definitely my fave. Get this if you're a fan of the sandwich. The only downside is that the menu up on the wall is super tiny so I had to whip out my phone to hurriedly find their menu. read more

Really wanted a BLT Bagel and was originally going to go to Tim Horton's but when I saw this place was close by, I opted for a more authentic place with better options and their price point was the same, so that's a bonus. I ordered it in an onion bagel and it was delicious and didn't feel so generic. The service was quick and efficient, and friendly. The bagel was delicious. I would've liked to have a note lettuce, tomato and bacon. The place is small so be prepared to stand and wait if you can't find a seat. The bathroom requires stairs just a heads up. I had not heard of Montreal style bagels until I came across this place. The shop is pretty small and there was a line when we went in but it went pretty quick. These woodfired bagels are delicious. I decided to stick with a plain bagel with some cream cheese. The cream cheese was really good and you could tell it was fresh or at least not store bought. It's just okay. I would say it's average. The workers were very nice, polite, and attentive. The bagels are not it. I had an everything bagel with chive cream cheese. The bagel tasted like seasame, that's it, and the cream cheese tasted a little tangy, not creamy. The egg sandwich was blah. The texture was hard, crunchy not soft chewy. I would probably love this place more if it weren't for Nu Bügel nearby in Kensington with their boiled bagels that pack a punch. Bagels on Fire has been doing a good business on Queen West, as it fills a niche, which is that there isn't any place like it nearby. Around the corner on Spadina there's another bagel spot, but for Queen St. this is it. I buy their bagels occasionally, and they have a good deal on day-old bags of random bagels for around $7 which is good. Their bagels are different than Nu Bügel in that they are lighter, fluffier, less substantial, lack the intensity, but do hit the spot. They also have bagel twists which I haven't tried but remind me of a pretzel. One thing that is very impressive here is the selection of cream cheese to go with. There are so many! Something to explore if this is your passion. As far as Montreal style, etc., I don't know one from the other, so can't help with the nuances of what compares to what and "you gotta be in some other city to get a good bagel" or whatever. I do know that these are good bagels and worth stopping in. The other aspect is that their hours are good and often when I walk down Queen St., there is a crowd outside waiting to get their fix, when nothing else is open. I haven't tried their prepared sandwiches, maybe that's the attraction. So that has to say something about their service and their product. read more

The tourist in me was intrigued by the notion of Montreal style bagels and was not disappointed. I came in direct from the airport looking for brunch and ended up getting a lox sandwich along with a few plain bagels to try as it's a style I'm not familiar with. First impressions were that the bagels themselves were smaller than those of typical New York Style bagels. The crispy crust was interesting as was the bready heft. I can't say they're better than New York but different for sure. There was not a ton of lox inside the sandwich but there was enough to get the flavor across. I definitely wanted more. The cream cheese was sweeter than I expected and the lox was salty; tasty nonetheless. The cheese bagel was sweet! This was unexpected. Tasty as well but not remarkable, more novelty. As far as the store itself goes, it's utilitarian with the small tables for dining inside and one bistro table outside. The only thing that was disappointing was them rubbing it off the popular flavors by 1:15. I was told "yeah those bagels always sell out first." ... Then why not make more of those flavors Iif they're the most popular and have them sell out... last... if not at all? The coffee was warm and tasty and, so far, Bagels on Fire have the best Montreal style bagels I've had. read more

Come here for the fresh bagels, you can see them baking in the morning. They have a good variety and some unique options such as coconut ! These ones seem less doughy and more chewy which can be a positive or negative pending your preferences. Overall, prices are fair and food is fresh so give it a try! read more

Absolutely incredible bagels. I ordered from Bagels on Fire this morning through UberEats. I got six bagels and a tub of their chilli cilantro cream cheese. The bagels arrived fresh and warm and they smelled so fresh and delicious. I immediately cut into an onion bagel and toasted it slightly and slathered it with the cream cheese. What surprised me the most was the texture. The crunch of the outside combined with the soft chewy inside was absolutely delicious. Flavour wise the bagel was spot on. It lacked salt but I think that's expected from a bagel and the saltiness is probably supposed to come from the fillings. I also expected the cream cheese to have a little bit more flavour but it was primarily plain cream cheese with a hint of cilantro. I still really enjoyed it. I'm so excited to try the other flavours I ordered (coconut!!!) and will definitely make an effort to visit Bagels on Fire in person so I can try their bagel sandwiches. read more

My boyfriend and I tried their bagel sandwiches on a recent trip to Toronto, and I must say we were quite impressed! On the first day he got an everything bagel with egg, cheese, and bacon and I got the rosemary sea salt bagel. We'd only ever had New York style bagels previously, so I was eager to try the Montreal style I'd heard so much about. It didn't disappoint. The bagel was lightly sweet, chewy, and not so large I felt sick after eating it. Perfection! My boyfriend had no clue that a Montreal style bagel even existed (he was born in Brooklyn, give him a break) but he said he liked it better than the ones in New York. I wasn't sure I believed him, but he woke up the next day demanding the exact same bagel sandwich. This time I went for Montreal smoked meat on an everything bagel. Hands down it was one of the tastiest breakfast sandwiches I've ever had, period. My biggest regret is not coming here sooner so I could get a Montreal smoked meat bagel sandwich every day (this was our last morning in the area). I'm now stuck researching how to get the meat and a dozen Montreal style bagels shipped to the United States. Well done! read more
