Lots of baked goods and had to give their breakfast burrito a try (something a out soft things inside, crispy grilled outside calls to me!)! The breakfast burrito isnt my favourite - missing that tart and sweet factor so all you get is soft, crispy, somewhat saltiness from the bacon and a hint of sweet from the tomatoes ---- and a WHOLE lot of grease, but not much else. Maybe I'll stick to their baked goods going forward. Aside from foods, the space is big and reminds me of Perk Cafe from Friends. Friendly quick staffs.
We got their chocolate chip cookie and also flat white. The chocolate chip cookie was nice and soft, and the flat white was decent. For the price, I was expecting a bit more richer flat white, but it wasn't terrible. The interior has plenty of seating and it's located in a pretty busy part of town. Would definitely recommend for people to pay them a visit.
Store front is under construction at the moment. Chocolate chip, chocolate chip walnut, oatmeal raisin and salted caramel cookies and an oat milk latte. C$34.84 The cookies look a tad burnt on a few cookies. They smell amazing. Seating for cookie, sandwich, salad and coffee enjoyment. The smell inside is worth a visit. The oatmeal cookie was dry, so was the chocolate walnut, which I believe is one of the factories here. Perhaps it was a two off, as I was wishing I had only bought one of these. Le Gourmaud in Toronto is a great cafe, and seems like a popular spot for Torontonians. We only spent 24 hours in Toronto, and this is one of the great stops that we made. I love Canadian pastries, because they are not as sweet as the ones in the US, and I'm not really a person who is big on sweets and desserts. My family and I stumbled upon this gem after eating at a spot on Queen Street, Walking by, we saw the sign outside saying "world-famous cookies," wnd decided to go in to try some of them. We ordered oatmeal raisin, white chocolate macadamia, and chocolate chip cookies, as well as an orange muffin. At first, I was not really excited about ordering anything, but since we were only visiting Canada for a couple of hours, I gave in, and I'm so glad I did! The chocolate chip cookie was delicious, it had crispy edges with a gooey center that wasn't overly soft. My parents loved the oatmeal raisin cookies, and my uncle and aunt, who initially passed on ordering, couldn't resist running back to get their own pastries once he tasted the muffin. In fact, he and my aunt stocked up on cookies and muffins before we left for New York. Le Gourmaud is a quiet and nice cafe with incredible pastries. I did not have the chance to try their sandwiches this time, but it's definitely on my list for my next visit to Toronto. If you're in the area and looking for top-tier baked goods in a welcoming atmosphere, this place is a must!
I hate giving low reviews but this place is so awful. We also visited twice (not by my choice), so unfortunately, I know it is not a fluke. First, you have to traverse through a bunch of construction to find it (not their fault but does not help with the overall experience). All the tables were dirty from previous patrons, and we didn't see anyone wiping them down the two times we were there. You bus your own tables and the bussing station is in a similarly sorry state. They're also not that busy so not sure why the service is so awful. The blonde cashier that we encountered twice was just chatting with the other staff rather than taking our order. When she finally paid attention to us, she was unnecessarily cold like we were bothering her. Again, this happened twice. The first time we went, we only ordered a cookie and a cappuccino. The coffee was mid and the cookie took so long the another staff member noticed and apologized, which was nice of her. The second time we went, the sandwiches behind the glass looked sad, so I got the kathu roti, which was drowning in sauce and became very unpleasant to eat midway through. My partner got the egg bacon croissant - the eggs were rubber, croissant was also mid, and the whole thing was too salty. They also called the wrong order number (we were the only ones waiting for food). The only good thing about this place is the cookies (which bumped this up to two stars) but not worth the troubles.
I come here occasionally for coffee or for their famous walnut chocolate chip cookies. The cookies definitely are delicious and high quality, but I wouldn't say they're the best in the city. They actually taste better the next day in my opinion. Service here is always friendly and fast even on the weekends when it can get busy. There's a good amount of seating for small groups inside as well as a few tables outside. The building is undergoing renovation, but it's still open
To sum things up, the food here was great, but my experience dining in left a lot to be desired. The way the restaurant is run is a bit disorganized, which is particularly noticeable when it is busy. We waited for around 20 minutes to get our food, and were not able to hear our order being called when it was ready. There was also limited seating available, especially since this is both a cafe and brunch spot. I tried the Kothu Roti and Creme Brulee French Toast, both of which were delicious. I also tried their much hyped chocolate chip cookie, which was amazing. Since it is worth trying, I'd highly recommend just getting their food to go.
I am so happy that Le Gourmand on Spadina Ave. is still here after all these years! It used to be my second office for over 10 years where I did sketches for my illustration business and had many meetings here since it opened in 2002. I loved getting their delicious Balzac's Farmers Blend with just a little honey early in the mornings and loved all their freshly baked treats! Today I enjoyed their famous giant chocolate chip cookie still hot from the oven and so crispy and chewy at same time. But it wasn't as giant as I remembered so I hope it was an off day for the baker. Also had their chocolate bomb that unfortunately didn't come warmed up as they usually are so it wasn't great. But the European atmosphere and warm ambiance hasn't changed one bit. It always feels like I've stepped into Paris when I walked in. My visit brought back many happy memories. I do miss the founder of Le Gourmand Milton Nunes who was always so friendly to me and everyone who came in the café. He sadly passed away in March 2019 at age of 47. Rest In Peace Milton, please know that your delicious legacy is alive and well!
Love, love this spot. Their coffee is great and your cannot beat their baked goods. Located just south of Queen on Spadina, it's just off the streetcar spot. It's a local fave. Easily noted by the stream of customers - many just taking out. Beyond the coffee and baked goods. You can also enjoy some other options like breakfast sandwiches or eggs Benedict in the morning and a variety of luncheon items (soups, salads, sandwiches and light lunch fare). I've been going here for a while, and I've never had a bad meal or snack here. Fyi their chocolate chip cookies are the best! Today we had coffee, croissants and a lemon bichon. All great. And I couldn't resist. Some pastries were brought home. Don't look any further for a great French bakery.
A small coffee shop near chinatown, with a fair amount of seating and seems to be a place where people go to work as well. I got the white chocolate matcha which was part of their spring menu - 4.5/5 loved it! I also got the apple tart which I would rate 3/5 - tasted ok but wish it was warmed up which would've made it taste better since it was kind of hard cold but I didn't realize until I had left. They had a few other items on their spring menu that I think is limited time, would come back again if I'm passing by
This place is awesome. I was staying nearby and after my flight home got delayed, I wanted to squeeze in some work and breakfast before hitting the road. I found this spot on Yelp and arrived around 8:30-9am. It was right off Spadina and was easy to spot... next door to a Starbucks. Why would anyone choose the big box coffee shop over the little guy? I will never understand. The space is big with a giant area filled with seats and tables for dining and cranking out some work. There is a long L shaped counter with pastries behind it as well as the register/pick up area, and a small kitchen. There was a bit of a line when I got there but it moves pretty fast. I ordered an egg and cheese croissant and their turmeric latte. The service was fast af. I went to set up my laptop and hadn't even noticed them call my name because it was so quick. My sandwich was great and I ate every single bite. My latte was not very sweet at all and the turmeric was very forward. I also drank that down to the very last drop. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again!
I was excited to try the gluten-free almond cake, so we ordered that along with salted caramel hot chocolate with coconut milk and whipped cream. The hot chocolate arrived cold, and there was no whipped cream and the cup was not full for a size large. It was so thin. It didn't seem like coconut milk was used to either. No matter, I couldn't drink it anyway it was a cheap fake flavor that was way too sweet. The cake tasted like someone mixed simple syrup with ground almonds which made it moist but again overly sweet so that I couldn't even get the full-on almond taste and ended up eating a lot of sugar I didn't expect. So disappointing.

Came for the caffeine, stayed (and will keep coming back) for the cookies! This is such a great casual neighborhood haunt. It's got that perfect productive energy if you can snag a seat. It isn't necessarily "plush-cozy," but it feels lived-in and welcoming in the best way possible. Let's talk about the menu: * The Cookies: 1000/10. Easily one of the best in the city. I tell myself I'll try the food next time, but I always end up walking out with a cookie instead. * The Coffee: A bit of a mixed bag. My first Iced Americano was a miss (espresso tasted over-extracted/burnt), but don't let that deter you. I went back and a different barista made me a Flat White that was flawless. * The Food: Haven't tucked into the actual meals yet, but they look promising. Hands down the best chocolate chip cookie I ever had, what I like about this place is it's not too sweet, service was quick, the cookie was warm it melts in your mouth, and the coffee was really good, perfect combinations , read more

It easy very windy today when we past by we saw this SINGLE fried donut (Berliner) with custard like filling thru the window and I thought "wow that's beautiful and it's only one left so I gotta try it", went in and saw the trophy for best choco chip cookie award, why make a choice if I can get both?;) Berliner is actually not as crispy as I expected it to be but it is very delicious but THE CHOCOLATE COOKIE!!!!!!!!!! That is a 6 star cookie for sure. After one bite and I was just in tears! Why haven't my foodie friends told me about this gem? I'm never going to other places to eat choco chop cookie again this will be my go to! It is huge, and the chocolate are so gooey but the dough is so crunchy, perfect flavor and texture! 12/10 read more

Great place to get cookies! I went around 2pm on a Saturday and it was busy, but the line went quick. There's about 10 tables there to sit and enjoy your goodies. Staff is busy in the back and so once a table is freed, there's nobody to clean it. I got the chocolate chip walnut cookie and the Portuguese egg tart. Personally I would skip the Portuguese egg tart next time, but cookies are a must! Egg tart was cold and the shell was a little rubbery. Came through here on a walking food tour. Cookie was good, solid and didn't disappoint. It's large and folks here were just pumping them out. A home made style cookie and I suggest eating it right as you get there, hot and messy and delicious. read more

If you've been to Levain cookie in NYC and loved their chocolate walnut cookie, you need to come here. It's comparable but different. Both are equally good, on different levels. Le Gourmand cookie is a slightly thinner version of the Levain cookie, but equally rich and delicious. Cookies here sell out fast. I tried to come in the afternoon one week day and it was sold out. The good thing is they bake them very fresh, but if you're in a pinch and can't wait 40 minutes, then it's best to come here early to secure your cookies!! I've passed by this place many times and have heard about their cookies. Now that I've been, I can't not go back. The moment you step in the store, there is a line. You don't notice this when you walk past the spot, but boy, is there always a line. You open the door and are also welcomed by a nice fragrance of fresh baked cookies. P.S. I've had other stuff from here (ie. oatmeal raisin cookie, a jam filled donut-like pastry, and a few other things), but honestly, if you're going to spend money here, don't waste it on anything but the cookie. Yes, the cookie is slightly expensive, but it is worth it! Just drink one less coffee this week and come get your cookie!! read more

Had lunch with friend's here and not only was the food absolutely delicious, the service was excellent. Had the cauliflower soup, very tasty, an Avocado sandwich, an Italian panini, and a vegetable omelet. Everything was grilled and ready within 10 minutes. Very friendly staff and of course, finished with their classic Chocolate chip cookies which are still the best anywhere! After more than 20 years in business, still totally consistent and great vibe in the cafe. Milton, the original owner would be so proud! Compliments to all management, cooks and front of house staff. Highly recommend coming. read more
I have been here a few times in the past few months and there are some negative consistencies that are making this rating so low. Firstly, the manager doesn't properly wear his mask and is constantly readjusting it by pinching it by the nose and touching it, then not washing his hands and making drinks and serving food. This thin disposable mask isn't protecting anyone from him touching his nose and it's so gross. The rest of the staff are all wearing their masks properly and not touching their face, I don't understand what this particular guy's problem is. Second, service is horrendously slow, whether in person or via an app like Ritual where you order ahead. Today I waited 30 minutes from ordering just to get a drink. The manager was blaming the new cashier but it wasn't her fault, it is just way understaffed. One dude making every drink. Speaking of the new cashier, they definitely threw her on cash before she was properly done with training, as she didn't even know a 12 oz was a small and a 16 oz was a large, even though it is plastered everywhere. They do have customers coming in with their dogs (it's a seated cafe too so pretty sure this isn't allowed as they weren't service dogs). The sad part is the drink was good. Everyone raves about the chocolate chip cookies here that I had to try it. Although pricy for a single cookie, it was definitely WORTH it. The cookie was warm, and melted in my mouth. There was a nice balance and it wasn't too sweet. I would definitely come back to try the other baked goods! read more
Came here after hearing that this was the best cookie in the city. In my head, I'd built it up to be something like levain in NYC but very honestly these are even better. AND it's an entire amazing cafe with so much more to offer. Wish we'd been able to have a weekend brunch here but as it was, I picked up a lemon bochon and a salted butter caramel cookie, both of which were out of this world. The lemon boxhon is this sort of compressed croissant with a caramelized skin. Inside there was an amazing lemon curd. The caramelization combined with croissant perfection made me wonder why it wasn't just natural for literally every cafe to have something like this. The cookie too was everything I wanted. Not so fat it's almost a meal like Levain's and in fact a much more traditional cookie shape, this guy was crisp everywhere I wanted a crunch and soft everywhere I wanted a chew. Would've been perfect with a glass of milk. read more
i was passing by the bakery and saw the cookies in the window so wanted to try them - later on my friend told me they had won best cookie and i could see why i stopped in for the cookies - i tried the chocolate chip, the chocolate chip and walnut and oatmeal raising. the chocolate chip + walnut was excellent, the oatmeal raisin was good and the chocolate chip was good. also, the cookie size was massive we also tried drinks - the iced lemon drink was good, the nutella hot chocolate was average read more
Cookies. You come here for the cookies. I'm sure everything else is really good too, but I can't speak on that just yet. And it's worth the trip. I tried both the regular chocolate chip and the white chocolate macadamia nut cookies, and they were both excellent. There hasn't been much about them that hasn't already been said. They're crispy on the outside, but nice and soft on the inside. They're sweet but not overly so, and they'll leave you satisfied. The store itself can be a bit chaotic at times, especially when it's busy, so leave yourself ample time if you go during heavier hours. Cheers. My friends have hyped up their cookies so I was super excited to try them whey they brought some over. THEY WERE SO GOOD, I love me some cookies. I had the chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia, both of which were really warm and soft and gooey (and this is hours after buying them!) I was also impressed by how HUGE they were; they were bigger than the size of my palm! The prices were decent too (website shows $3.75 for one, though you can buy them in a dozen for cheaper as well). read more

TLDR: Way over rated cookie that was definitely not the best cookie ever. They are totally just OK and not something I'd recommend to anyone. I came here specifically for the famous Chocolate chip cookie. It was very tiny like a regular farmers market packaged cookie. I thought it would be a nice big cookie like I get from other fresh baked places. When I ordered, I asked for my cookie to be heated. After waiting awhile (I assumed the cookie was being heated) I got my cold cookie. I was quite disappointed so I decided to save it for later when I got home. I walked with it for 30 mins in its paper bag which became very greasy. It didn't have nice cripsy edges, any uniqueness to it, and it just seemed overly greasy. read more
