We went for dinner to this restaurant one week night so it was not so busy, plus that there is a…read moreconstruction site right outside the place which totally blocks the whole restaurant. First thing I noticed was that they serve very limited number of dishes and they apparently change the menu often so my advice is to check the up to date menu before the visit so you know what to expect. The food was really fresh & extremely well presented, I just loved the garnish on the plate. The BBQ steak was served with incredibly delicious sauce but the fish was served too simple that tasted almost bland. The portions were really really small & they don't serve any potato or carbs with the food either so don't go there super hungry! We asked for bread & they said they don't serve bread for dinner which resulted us having sandwiches later on that evening but maybe it's just us that eat a lot! The very interesting thing was that they have their own brewery right in the restaurant & their beer was so good that we are planning to buy some later from the store.

We started with the crispy pork rinds and gougeres. Both were good but not great. The pork rinds oddly lacked flavor. But the black pepper mayo was quite good. The gougeres had good flavor but somehow weren't hot. The jalapeños added some nice spice. I went with the seared scallop. Wow was it amazing. So much flavor in one little dish. So rich and salty and creamy all at once. The pic doesn't do it justice. Husband said the wings were really good. The umami sandwich (appetizer) was huge. Butter fried bread is genius. And oh so tasty. The service was pretty good (he forgot one item but it was for the best as we didn't need it). Casual place with some very tasty gastropub food.

Both of us were looking to try some fish in Stockholm and The Flying Elk's fish and chips did not disappoint! The cod is very well battered and fried perfectly, the fries are great as well, and it all comes with a great curry mayonnaise for dipping. You also get some house-made pickled vegetables that add a great acidity element to the meal! We both enjoyed a couple beers and walked away super satisfied. We originally had reservations for the main dining room, but wanted to check out their "back bar" after doing some research, and I would highly recommend it! The back bar is a little less formal, dimly lit, and gives off a good vibe for relaxing, enjoying a beer, and eating some tasty food. While The Flying Elk is tad pricey I think it's a worth a stop if you're visiting Stockholm!
