Spicy lamb ribs with collard greens.
    Ken M.

I've tried most of the better known Ethiopian restaurants on the northern side of the metro except for this one. And today it seems that I saved the best for last as I loved both my food and experience here. It was a simple lunch of lamb tibs and collard greens with a side order of teft injera that I could take home. The flavors and textures of both the tibs and collards were as good as I could have wished for. And to top things off, my waitress was extremely nice and the whole vibe was pleasant and relaxing.

Very quaint spot with authentic Ethiopian flavors. Service was really good. My server was a young woman who wanted to make sure I enjoyed my experience. I really appreciated how sweet she was. I ordered the lamb tibs and got them spicy. I love spice but it took away from the flavor of the meat some. I enjoyed my food especially the injera.

This place has great service and good food. They are tucked away is a small strip mall. The decor looks amazing in the back. There are more rooms and stores in the back. I ordered the Doro Wot. It is a chicken stew and comes with a chicken leg and an egg. It tastes great but I would hope for more protein. The bread that comes with it tastes good as well.

Bahel is our happy place and the food is authentically made with love & delicious! In my opinion it's definitely the Michelin Star of Ethiopian Restaurants in the Atlanta Metro Areas. My husband and I have dined in this family owned sweet place for over 20 years and they have never disappeared! We eat Plant Based and the delicious vegetable combination is "TO LIVE FOR" with ample portion sizes. The aroma-the spices & taste of each delicious bite is incredible!. Our meat eating family & friends absolutely love the meat entrees. The menu offers many dishes and I'm confident that you won't be disappointed with the choices. When you walk in the door you'll be amazed how charming the environment is. The service is friendly, the Chef is incredibly gifted and the owners are amazing! There is a large dining area for groups located within the restaurant with ample seating and great service. At Bahel, you can shop and find beautiful treasures in their "Market/Store located in the back of the restaurant where you can select spices, clothing, jewelry and everything Ethiopian. Last but not least, I want you to know that this restaurant is super clean! Do yourself a big favor by dining at Bahel Ethiopian Authentic Restaurant. You will not only love the food, but will return again and again!

The food here is AMAZING! Definitely authentic, service was good and the food came pretty fast. We recently moved to Atlanta from Virginia where authentic Ethiopian food is readily accessible, so finding this gem was a definite plus. As soon as we walked in, we were met with the pleasing aroma of frankincense, which made me immediately feel I was entering a truly authentic Ethiopian establishment. We had the Awaze tibs, lamb tibs, doro wat, collard greens, cabbage and carrots and yellow split peas all served on a large platter lined with injera. The food was just what I was looking for!! Fragrant, flavorful and simply delicious. I'm so glad we found our go-to Ethiopian restaurant in Atlanta!

This Ethiopian is top tier. Food was delicious. This was my 2nd time eating Ethiopian food in my life and Bahel did not disappoint. The waitress was great and very patient in explaining the menu. The place was clean inside and out. I was so impressed I went 2 days in a row while on vacation in Atlanta, Ga. I will definitely be going back.

Small space, a few booth tables, two larger party tables and about 3-4 small two top tables. They grilled some meat and veggies, smells a bit like fajita at a Tex Mex spot. More seating in the back. Ordered one vegetarian combo, chicken tibs, sambusa, a side order of red lentils and a side order of yellow lentil and an extra side of injera. They don't have a lot of lentil options here. Ended up getting two more sides of the red lentil and the yellow lentils. $51 The incense is a bit intense for such a small space. The sambusa is super hot, filled with lentils. The wonton is nice and thin and super crispy too. It's good. The sauce is different and spicy too. The red lentil is good, the yellow tastes decent, but the lentil is a bit hard. The cabbage, green beans, collard green and the salad were just okay. The salad dressing is an Italian. The service was good.

I ordered the veggie plate and my friend had the lamb. I overall enjoyed the spices and my food except for the collard greens. My friend enjoyed his lamb and would patron the restaurant again. The service was good. However, the restaurant was cold..... like keep your winter coat and hat on....cold. I hope this t was just an issue today and not like that all the time during the Winter.

Tried this place out because my friend came across recommendations for it. With a party of four, we got a Bahel 3 (Dereq Tibs, Awaze Tibs, gored gored, lentils, green collard) which is more than enough for a hungry bunch of people. Not exactly sure what was what on our plate, but everything was so enjoyable. The injeora is soft, bouncy, and spongy, with a slight kick of sourness; perfectly contrasting all the flavors and seasonings of the food in the large plate. All of us really enjoyed the lentils and collard greens, and one of the item that was beef is also phenomenal - they bring out a skillet of it, and pour it right on the center of the plate. Overall, amazing experience, friendly workers, and unique experience!

Came here with my coworkers for lunch. This was my first time having Ethiopian food. The food was already ordered when I arrived. The collard greens and lamb were my favorite. It was fun to learn more about the culture and how it relates to its food. I would like to come back to try some other things on the menu I.

That's usually a pretty good sign. I've only had Ethiopian food at two other restaurants around the Metro Atlanta area, and honestly, neither one was particularly memorable. This place is a completely different story. Every time we visit, the experience is consistent, no matter how busy they are. The decor is inviting, the service is always friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is consistently clean and well-maintained. My wife and I usually share the Tibs Platter with ribeye, lamb, and filet. The meat is always incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. We also order the Miser (spicy lentils), Atir (split peas), and plenty of injera. The combination of flavors and textures is amazing, and every bite complements the next. One of the things I appreciate most is how approachable they make Ethiopian cuisine for first-time visitors. If you've never had Ethiopian food before, this is a great place to start. The staff is helpful, the food is flavorful without being overwhelming, and the experience is unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant. If you're ever in the Atlanta area and want to try Ethiopian food, this place will not disappoint. Even if you're a little hesitant about eating with your hands, don't let that stop you. After a few bites, you'll understand why so many people keep coming back.

To start, the space is nice, spacious, clean, and thoughtfully decorated. Dark wood tones, colorful artwork, scenic landscape screensavers on the TV screens near the bar, and Ethiopian music pumping through the speakers (but not so loud that you can't hear the people you're with). The staff is also so sweet with great energy. There's a full bar with great drink prices, and I still need to try the honey wine. One thing to note is that the food is made to order and does take a little time (like 20 minutes or so), but when you dig in and start eating you understand why. I will wait every time, no problem. This amazing restaurant located within proximity of the airport is truly a gem in the Metro Atlanta area. The exterior is well lit and encompasses a wraparound porch that has ample space to potentially host a party. Not sure of their outdoor intentions as it was fairly cool when I visited, and look forward to checking out again in the warmer months. Parking is available at no cost, with ADA compliant entry. From the moment I entered, I was impressed with the art in various forms throughout the restaurant. This include included pictures, sculptures, and even a traditional Ethiopian coffee set up. Our party was fairly large and sat to the right of the entrance where tables were pushed together to form one table with chairs on one side and bench on the opposite. I did notice that the other areas had tables that were spaced in the very larger room, as well as a bar area with television and would appear to be an area for music/Dj set up. The food was amazing as well. Amazing is the word of the day regarding ballet! I ordered the Bole Awaze Tims signature platter with lamb, other meat options were available. I also ordered the Timatim fitfit salad, a side of beets and had the hot spice tea as my beverage. The portions were ample and included a basket of njeri, the traditional spongy accompaniment used to eat the contents of your meal. The Timatim salad was extremely good, and a meal in itself. My food was seasoned well, and I enjoyed each and every bite! My tea was delicious too! A traditional us brand teabag was placed on the side for addition, but not necessary at all. The spices which I believe included cardamom were more than sufficient and truly warmed me adequately. Despite having an a large party, our server managed all orders like a champion, and made sure that no one had to guess on menu selections. She provided information in educated in the process. The overall vibe was that everyone was impressed and enjoyed their meals. As previously mentioned, I look forward to returning to share the extremely personable ambience and great food selections with others. Definitely a great location to celebrate a special occasion or for a delicious meal with a long layover.

Speaking with the waitress running the front of the store, I decide to play it safe and go medium spice and medium for how cooked the beef is. Kategna injera - this is life changing. I enjoy injera but an injera fried in a pan so it's crispy and flaky in different parts and coated in awaze? Wow. We also shared the king fish and rice, which was excellent and still left us with leftovers. Another friend ordered the tibis with spaghetti, and that portion was large enough that leftovers had to be taken home as well. We ordered the vegetarian platter as the main course with 2 proteins. We chose steak and salmon.. soft Ethiopian music lent great ambience. The children were so excited, that they ate with no regard to the level of spice. It was absolutely delightful! I recommend the platter if you have a party of 3 or more. You get 5 vegetables and 2 proteins- see photos. Highly recommended for something unit.

I absolutely love this place, they are so hospitable and kind! I have been coming here for the…read morepast 2 years and the food quality is always the exact same...delicious. I have never had the same server(because I come on different times and days), but they are all always so helpful when suggesting things off the menu. This past week, I went with 2 friends and our server was so nice and I totally forgot to catch her name. From the moment we walked in, she was so friendly and helpful offering different combinations on the menu to accomodate for different dietary restrictions while still getting the full experience. She brought out both types of injera for us to taste to see which we wanted our food with and let us keep them. We ordered the habesha salad and lentil sambussas and it was plenty for 3 people to eat for appetizers. The hot sauce the the sambussas were served with was sooo good! For the main coures, we ordered the ethiopian special(fish and lamb) and a mushroom tibs. For sides, we got misir(my fav), difin misir, dinich wot, fosolia, gomen, and tikil gomen. It was all so good, and more than enough for 3 people to eat. My friend ordered an iced coffee with oat milk and after giving it, the server mentioned that if she didn't like it, she would take it back and remake it. My friend said it was fine, but the server noticed that by the end of the meal, she never drank it, so she insisted and took it off the tab since she didn't drink it. For the dessert, there are only 2 things on the menu, but in reality, there are maybe 7- 10 different desserts, you just have to ask your server what they are. We got a kettle of habesha tea and it has about 4 servings, which was perfect for us. For the first hour, we were the only people in the restaurant, but as time progressed, there were about 4- 5 tables with other people and it never felt loud or too busy. There was great music and I know they occasionally will have a live performer playing classics. Overall a 10/10 restaurant and experience. Will definitely be returning.
