I am now on antidepressants due to what this doctor did to me! I trusted this surgeon to correct breathing issues and perform specific changes we clearly discussed. None of those agreed-upon goals were completed. The grafts on the bridge of my nose were not removed, which was the main goal of the surgery, my tip was not refined and is now bulbous, tissue inside my nostril remains, and my nostrils were attached to my cheeks and the skin now appears pulled and distorted. My nose is now completely uneven. Most devastating, he made the bridge of my nose more narrow without my consent and I can no longer breathe through my nose. I was also talked into facial liposuction I didn't seek, which worsened my appearance instead of improving it. I now have a huge indent/ hole in my face. When I raised concerns, I felt dismissed and unsupported. This has caused significant physical harm, emotional distress, and financial burden as I now need corrective surgery. I wish I had listened to my instincts when I felt uncomfortable before the procedure. When asking questions to gain clarity, I was met with rudeness & defensiveness. I hope others ask hard questions and feel truly heard before moving forward. He only cares about money and not your best interests. While I understand that the staff may feel inclined to defend and support the surgeon's position, my experience and account of what occurred remain unchanged. I now have to come up with money for yet another revision surgery to fix even more problems than I had before the surgery. read more

I regret my experience with Dr. Guyuron. After he and his staff confirmed he could perform the exact brow-lift reversal technique I provided (a method proven successful by another surgeon), I paid about $35,000, arranged travel and accommodations, and arrived for surgery -- only to be told at the pre-op that he planned to use a different, simpler approach that omitted key steps from the original plan. Despite my hesitation, I felt financially locked in and relied on his repeated assurances that the outcome would be the same. The results were minimal, and throughout recovery he shifted blame rather than addressing concerns. Virtual follow-up appointments were often late or delayed unless I contacted the office. Before surgery, I paid for additional procedures he recommended (upper eyelid blepharoplasty and under-eye fat grafting). After thinking it over, I decided I no longer wanted them and planned to communicate this at pre-op. However, he did not speak with me until I was already sedated with an IV in place, moments before being taken to the operating room. When I said I did not want the additional procedures, instead of acknowledging my decision, he insisted they were necessary and proceeded anyway while I was not in a position to decline. He also placed fat in my upper cheeks -- something never discussed or consented to. These changes caused asymmetry, which was the specific outcome I expressed I wanted to avoid. When I later requested correction, I was charged in full for revision surgery, anesthesia, and facility fees -- and the revision made the issue worse - he added 2 bumps under the eye that didn't need any more fat grafting and I did not ask for. Communication from start to end lacked transparency, and when I finally expressed how distressing the process had been, he told me I was a "terrible" and "disrespectful" patient and ended the visit. In my experience, he did not honor consent, dismissed concerns, and showed no empathy or accountability. This experience has been enormously emotionally and financially damaging. Based on how I was treated, the overall tone of care felt dismissive, manipulative, and uncaring. I strongly encourage anyone considering him to meet with him multiple times before committing, trust your instincts, and read Yelp reviews -- not just Google. He performed the surgery that we never agreed upon and refuses to be held accountable. I went to this clinic for rhinoplasty revision for only the purpose of narrowing the tip of my nose. It was unsuccessful but I couldn't complain this part of surgery since it's "not guaranteed," however, he did the surgery that I never asked him for: elevating the bridge of my nose without my permission or authorization. He initiated such surgery without my knowledge, this was unauthorized surgery. At pre-op, his plan of surgery picture shows no elevation whatsoever on the bridge of my nose, thus he was not supposed to touch it from the beginning. On the surgery date, I even told his assistant (Dr. Guyuron didn't come see me right before surgery) to make sure not to make the bridge of my nose any higher at all, he stated "ok," nevertheless, Dr. Guyuron and his team placed the cartridge on the bridge of my nose that made my appearance significantly change that I developed severe depression afterwards. The clinic refuses to give me this assistant's name when asked. I asked him why did he do such surgery and his response was "Normally, Asian people like the bridge of their nose higher." Unbelievable. So he performed the surgery based on his stereotyped belief when I didn't even ask him to do so? I paid nearly $20K and he did a wrong surgery that I never asked him for and he refused to be held accountable for his mistake or he has done it purposely cuz he believed all Asian people like higher nose? His stereotyped biased view of opinion or preconceived notion doesn't apply to my case at all and in spite of that, he did it. I was appalled when I heard him saying that. The clinic manager keeps asking me to remove my review on another website but it is my genuine experience, not sugar-coated or fabricated or nothing but the truth based on the facts. On top of that, she refuses to make an follow up appointment to fix my nose (and demanded me to pay another anesthesia and facility fee which will amount more than $3,000) unless I remove my review of my true experience. Until recently, the manager kept emailing me persistently asking me to remove my review without giving me any compensation of his error surgery. She told me on the phone like she was giving me an order "You need to take it down!" I consider this very unprofessional. I am 3 months post op from Septorhinoplasty done by Dr. Guyuron. Prior to choosing a well known surgeon, it took me years to really drill down whom and where I wanted to have this procedure performed (to include turning down a high well known doctor internationally). I chose Dr. Guyuron because of his high confidence in being able to fix my nose exactly how I wanted which prompted me to be extremely excited. I drove 14 hours to Ohio to have my procedure done. I met with him a few days prior to actually having surgery and he had shown me what he was targeting to fix. With someone who has some what of a white coat syndrome, I felt so much better leaving the facility. The day of surgery, I did not even see Dr. Guyuron but his resident who was not able to answer all of my questions but indicated that he would ask and never returned. Mind you, aside from that, the nurses were absolutely incredible and consistently checked on me. Day 1 Post Op check, Dr. Guyuron indicated everything went well and just asked how I was doing. I literally was in there for less than 5 minutes, as expected since there wasnt much he would be able to do anyway. I left Ohio and decided to go home with instructions on taking my bandage off. I had a few complications to which I've contacted the facility and they have walked me through next steps (Exceptional Care btw). I had my 1 week post op call with Dr. Guyuron and was literally on FaceTime for not even 1 minute... I kid you not. He looked at my nose, indicated I was still swollen but told his nurse to email me instructions on taping my nose.. fast forward to 1 month post op, another FaceTime call, and again... was not even on FaceTime for more than 1 minute --- After expressing concerns about my nostrils being uneven (they were slightly uneven prior to surgery but not as bad as they are now), he continued to look at my nose and tell me that he could tell me flaws of my nose, but wasn't going to. I'm now 3 month post op and less confident than I was prior to getting my septorhinoplasty... the only difference you can tell with my nose is that it's straighter (minus having a divot on my left side of my nose that for some reason formed under my cast). The majority of my swelling has subsided and I know that it takes approx 1 year to see the entire change, however, as someone who works in the healthcare sector and around physicians on a daily basis, I've never experienced with a physician who is completely money hungry than seeing true happiness and results for his/her patients. I'm completely disappointed in the fact that I will most likely have to find ANOTHER surgeon who can fix these issues and pay more money to have the nose I've always dreamed of.
