So we were looking on hotels.com for hotels in the area on our way through Europe. We found this hotel and the pictures on hotels.com actually made me scared to stay there. When I read there were shared baths I was a little cautious but the price was right and we were up for a new experience. When I got to the hotel I noticed the pictures on hotels.com were wrong, it was actually much cuter than pictured and didn't look creepy. We were greeted by a very nice innkeeper who was very inviting and gave us some info about the hotel and the wi-fi password. We were given a room with two twins on the second floor. There are I believe five rooms and two bathrooms on each floor. We were at the end of the hall in a spacious room. We unpacked what we needed and went out for a bit into Interlaken which was about a 5-10 minute drive. When we got back we decided to eat at the hotel. The restaurant was booming and full of life. We ordered the schnitzel and fondue to share. Both were wonderful! The fondue had so much cheese and I have to say the schnitzel in the cheese was really good! The service was wonderful and the waitress was the nice innkeeper. The food was very well priced and was fresh. There was no A/C in the room but it was rainy so we slept with the windows cracked which was nice. There were nice views from the room to a garden out back. We then took showers. One bathroom had a shower and one had a tub. We decided to go for the one with the shower since it was better lit. I have to say this was one of the best showers I had in Europe. The water pressure was amazing! I will gladly share a bath anytime in a hotel if I could have that water pressure again. It was wonderful! The beds were comfy enough and there was a sink in the room. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and I would personally stay again.

We stayed in this lovely hotel in Lauterbrunnen in early March. The rooms were charming and unique,…read moreso unlike the large chain hotels. It was clean and the bedding was SO comfortable! Our room had a good sized balcony with table and chair and absolutely breathtaking views of the mountains. The location is excellent, just a few minutes walk to the train station as well as the gondola to ride up the mountain. Also close to shopping at three coop store. Breakfast was included and was excellent. Coffee and tea available 24/7 in the lobby. Staff super helpful. Would definitely stay again!

Smelled faintly of cigarette smoke (rooms are non-smoking, but they allow smoking on the balconies), but I just kept the window open and that helped. The room was clean and spacious with a beautiful view of the falls. Usually we don't like to eat at the hotels where we stay (unless we have to), but the restaurant here was top notch. Liked it so much we ate there 2 of the three nights we were in town. I had the deer both nights, absolutely scrumptious). Their pizzas seem popular, though we did not have one. Super conveniently located across the street from the train station and next to the cable car up to Murren and next to the Coop Grocery (easy to pick up snacks or a bottle of wine). Not for the faint of heart, though. Dragging our bags up the hill to the property was a job - thankfully we were up to it, but if you're booking keep your fitness level in mind (or maybe the hotel offers some sort of help? I didn't ask.) I would definitely recommend staying here. If ever back in Lauterbrunnen, I would stay again.

Here's a version that feels more direct, more personal, and less polished-for-brochure:…read more I stay in a lot of luxury hotels around the world. Asia, the Middle East, Europe, the US. Enough that I think I have a pretty good barometer for what is genuinely five-star and what is just marketed that way. Victoria Jungfrau in Interlaken is the real thing. What stood out wasn't one flashy moment. It was the consistency and attention to detail from every single member of staff I interacted with. That kind of alignment doesn't happen by accident. It reflects culture and leadership. There's something here that feels like old-school European excellence in hospitality. Service that is confident, calm, precise, and not overly theatrical. It feels intentional. Lara at reception was excellent. Professional, efficient, and warm without being overdone. Check-in was smooth and polished, but never stiff. Chantal at concierge was exceptional. She noticed me every time I walked into the hotel. Not occasionally. Every time. She remembered what she had arranged, followed up naturally, and clearly paid attention. That level of detail is rare, even at top-tier properties. It made a difference. I genuinely felt that she wanted my experience in Interlaken to be great, not just adequate. In a world where many luxury hotels rely on branding and design to carry the experience, Victoria Jungfrau delivers through people. That's harder to manufacture. And it shows.

We were pretty thirsty so both of us wanted something tasty to drink, and ideally a snack to keep us going. The entirety of the restaurant was open tables, so we sat ourselves. The service took a really long time (although I generally don't factor that into ratings). I mention it only because it is highly relevant to our subsequent experience. While we were waiting (a long while) to place our order, my wife got up to use the bathroom. When I was finally greeted, I ordered a ginger ale and a brownie. As my wife returned from the bathroom and approached our table, the waiter (owner?) began accosting her about being a "foreigner that had no idea how certain things like using the bathroom were insulting to Swiss people". This was all before she could even utter a word. At first, I just assumed he didn't realize she was with me, but when he returned, he was not AT ALL apologetic, and went on ignoring her and conduct business solely through me. I cannot assign intent to his behavior, but it FELT racist (my wife is South Indian) and/or misogynistic. For some reason they have a Michelin star sign outside their restaurant. In subsequent research, I could not find evidence of their having earned such a designation. The food was, compared to Swiss food in general, objectively mediocre at best (perhaps two stars). The appalling and hostile experience is what ultimately leads me to give this restaurant one star.
