Reuben sandwich ($10) and side veg soup ($3)
    Jacqueline H.

Very tasty and reasonably priced breakfast/lunch spot in Qualicum Beach. A generous Reuben sandwich on lovely fresh caraway rye was $10, which I think is an absolute steal in a tourist town. The $3 side soup was not bad, "hearty vegetable" as advertised, lots of veg like broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, and tomato, although the seasoning reminded me of nursing home food. My bro quite enjoyed his burger which was also $10. We were both stuffed at the end of our meal; I couldn't finish my sandwich! We took a $2 rice krispie square to go, which was large but unremarkable. The space is really nice, all dressed up for V-day (maybe too much kitsch), lots of comfy seating, self-serve free ice water, free coffee refills, and clean but tight washrooms. The service was very friendly, particularly from the young man who brought our meals to the table and took our plates after. The menu is mainly sammies, wraps, some burgers, quesadilla, as well as breakfast and bakery items. All are freshly made, and as inexpensive as $6.50 for a tuna melt. Huge selection of tea, coffee-based drinks and cold beverages. It's not hard to find something for any taste, and for a fair price. Definitely a good choice for food, to stay or go.

Thank you Bailey's! Try the FRENCH TOAST! And the muffins, and the veggie scramble! SOOO GOOD! Had the yummiest breakfast this morning at Bailey's in the Village. The service was warm and friendly and patio was beautiful and sunny and the food came out so quick, and I could taste the LOVE! Thank you to the accommodating kitchen staff for allowing all of my diet modifications and going above and beyond to make my breakfast perfect!

    Excellent food. Wonderful, friendly service!

Again only on the island does the bland offerings of a cafeteria style set up get a 4.

Great sandwiches at reasonable prices! My family devoured their chicken corn chowder. I would highly recommend the Reuben sandwich.

Waitress walked off and never came back with my water. Had to track her down twice to request water before I finally got water. Ordered basted eggs with English muffin, got eggs over medium with whole grain toast. Politely said, I actually ordered English muffin, (did not mention that I didn't order fried eggs) she said "are you sure you don't want the toast? I said, no, I would like the English muffin. She walked off and served several other tables and started filling their drink orders. My husband tracked down a different person to get my English muffin, by then my not basted eggs were cold. I get it, mistakes happen to the best of us. A simple acknowledgment or apology would have been welcome, but not a word. It made me feel like I was the one being difficult and I hate being that person. It isn't cheap eats, so I simply wanted what I paid for. The fried potato hash towns were tasty and well seasoned, the eggs (however they were cooked) were good enough. Overall the food is what you expect for a traditional breakfast. If you don't expect amazing service you will enjoy the meal well enough.

The floors look to be original hardwood, and there are lots of beams and logs to see. I personally love the old style look, but it might not be to everyone taste. The service is quite good, our server especially, although it did seem like one individual was more interested in polishing glasses and not running food or bussing tables. He was a little passive aggressive with another staff member when he did run a couple of plates, came back and said "see that wasn't that hard." Not a good look. The food was quite good, although we felt, this time like the last, it was a little on the expensive side. It is quite a tourist mecca just outside of Parksville so that's likely part of the reason. It's also quite busy so clearly people are willing to pony up. We had the soup of the days Chantrelle mushroom soup. Evidently those mushroom are very plentiful in the area this time of year. It was quite good, creamy for sure, but we would have liked some more noticeable bits of mushroom. We also shared a Caprese salad which needed more balsamic and a little salt. The capers were a nice add. We finished with Margherita pizza which was nicely cooked and finished with fresh basil. Can't believe I am saying this, but there was too much cheese on it and maybe a little shy on the tomato sauce. Peroni beer on tap is a total winner for me. Have been twice, might go again, but likely not.

There are over 20 varieties of schnitzel to try here, plus other entrees so theres probably something that will satisfy everyone. Then you have a plethora menu of toppings from the more normal... yeah, if normal is a word here, to the crazy with loaded with lots of toppings, melted cheese, to curds, to gravy, to bacon, you are getting it with either boiled red cabbage, rice, or potatoes. Look, it's tasty food, and you are going to be full up, because the portions are... plenty. Let's use that word, because it's plenty. The service is good, our server was great, he shared opinions about the menu, and they were good options. The ambiance... is casual, loud, and delicious. So why not 5? Here's the context, we came at dinner hour 5:30, lots of people eating, so tables were packed. While our Schnitzels were great, when our companions got their food, as the same time, the meatballs were just warm. After a brief apology, they quickly remade the food, but first impressions. Anyway, they did make up for it, and the places was a mess of people, so orders were likely being quickly made, and ours wasn't made completely, which was okay, overall, the food was still tasty, ours, and our group's food when a totally new order came from the kitchen. So it's not a bad place, I would come again, and if you want to leave full, and not even remotely hungry, this is the place for you.
