A couple of years ago, a couple of friends and I went down the Catawba river with little to no idea on how dangerous the waters could be. We were mindlessly floating along, when we heard a man yell out at us that we missed our exit point. He thankfully paddled over with his canoe and was able to lead us to safely. Extremely disorganized. They told us to drive other patrons and workers back to the dam when they were "valeting" our cars from the dam to the Pump House. Potentially used the car as a corporate taxi, as many things in the rear seats were shifted to seemingly accommodate other passengers. Worker didn't get out of the drivers seat of our car when we got in because he probably thought he was just shuttling us!! Invasive and unprofessional. Would not use again. read more

If I could give this company negative stars I would. First of all it took multiple days to get a hold of this company to make a reservation. We finally got a reservation for Saturday. When we got out there, there were no tubes available so we had to wait a while as well as multiple other parties around us. . There were six children and six adults in our party. We were really adamant about the children having life vests, which the website stated anyway. The employees tried to give the smaller children larger sized life vests which everybody knows is not going to work in the water and is a big safety concern. I guess they were short on the correct sized vests. We were unable to print our own waivers at home so we were told to sign a blank piece of paper with a magic marker and that was considered the waiver for our group. One of the parties in our group didn't even have to sign a waiver as they were not asked to. Finally, after waiting about 45 minutes we got our tubes and headed out to the water entrance area where there is about 30 people coming in and out of the water and was very crowded and hectic. We started floating along and having a nice relaxing time and then one of the tubes hit a tree branch and deflated leaving a small child without a tube. Another person's tube bottom was torn out making 2 tubes unusable. The end of the trip where we were supposed to get out of the river at the marked green rock. It was so hard to get out because of the current that it took multiple people in kayaks to pull our party out of the river. Other tubers also came out to the river to help which was so wonderful of them .It took about 30 minutes to get out of the river. Once we got out of the river one of the employees said "we should not have let people out on the river today with the current the way it was" Apparently they opened up the dam that morning so the levels were very high. WHY WOULD YOU LET PEOPLE OUT IF THE CONDITIONS WERE UNSAFE??? I am very thankful that we all got out safely but I really think that this company has no business renting out tubes that are pieces of crap as well as not having safe areas of the exit. Once we were out there by the exit I realized that this was not only our experience but it was the experience of others this day as well. I hope that people read this and choose to not ever use this company. Super disappointed but also super thankful that we made it out safe. One positive note is that the employees were very helpful in getting our party out of the river at the end and I think they were questioning what they were doing too. I don't like to give bad reviews but I felt very strongly about this and feel that others should be aware that they do not follow safely guidelines. I understand that the tubes we used were purchased from Academy Sports on the day of and they were subpar. From what I gathered they had a lot of demand for tubing and no tubes so they ran out to Academy Sports and purchased some crappy tubes so they could still charge. I was with a large group that received very poor service. In reading other reviews as well as knowledge of our experience, it's obvious you make excuses as to why your company fails it's customers time and again. The bottom line is, you charge the same amount as it costs to purchase a tube. If people wanted to do everything on their own, they could with less issues. But people hire you to take the stress out of planning their excursions. They pay you to have everything together for their event because you claim that's what you'll do. You make promises of shuttles, valet, snacks, drinks, kayaks, double floats, life jackets, etc but do not deliver on any of them. You arrive late, unprepared, and full of excuses. Stop making promises to people that rely on you to do what they are paying you to do. Your company has extremely poor communication and organizational skills. Answer a text or the phone and don't be afraid to say "I'm sorry, that isn't a service we offer." It's truly a shame that you are the only company that provides this type of service in the area. This was the weirdest and most unprofessional tubing experience ever. 1- they inform you when you get there that they take your car keys and then drive YOUR car to the end point. Sketchy. Get a bus. 2- 3/7 tubes deflated 3- they tell you to text them when you "see a bridge". This bridge is an hour and a half away from the end point, while the place is about 10 minutes apart from the beginning point. They never returned our text while we were there. The female owner informed us that her phone wasn't working, although I've now read a bundle of other reviews where they did not respond. I knew they were lying to us immediately after getting off the water. 4- when we got off the water, she made it sound like our car was coming soon. We waited. She then told us that her husband was doing a "rescue mission" ie one of their shitty tubes deflated and left someone stranded. Why didn't homeboy give the keys to someone else? She kept putting us off, and as this is my vehicle, I very understandably was fuming and threatened to call the authorities. My friend flagged down an officer where she was at the beginning point who called the guy. He finally showed up and gave some rambling non-excuse and proceeded to take another 15 minutes to produce my car keys. Overall, we waited an hour. 5-my friend had to call a Lyft to get to her car and they did not reimburse her 6- through all of this, they were totally unapologetic. The chick got so defensive and kept saying "we're business owners of three years" - yeah, shitty business owners!!! Whatever you do, do NOT use this company. It's a shame because these are good people trying to run a fun business...but they are not responsive on the phone or text to make reservation, then we we got a reservation it took well over an hour to get our equipment and get started plus there were issues with a couple of the floating equipment that needed to be replaced. They don't tell you where the end of the river for the lazy tube floating is but luckily we found it when we saw so many people getting out (right after/by the Pump House building/restaurant that you access the River Walk)...then we waited over 75 minutes for our car!!!!! The owner and staff member were apologetic and gave a partial refund...the location is only 30 minutes from Charlotte, but if you decide to give them a try, just know the service, organization, timing and quality of equipment is all up in the air :-/ read more

Horrible business! This business took a deposit of $385 for our group and never showed up. We were at the location to meet them and they never came. They did not answer phone calls or texts. They refused to issue a refund and will not return our calls. We are a CHURCH group who was looking for a fun outing with some youth. Do not book this "company" or pay any deposits to them. The people were nice enough and the ride down the river was fun....HOWEVER....they really need to work on their own communication skills and scheduling. When making the reservation, I stated that we were wanting a 4 person float. We were not informed that they no longer had this float until after were arrived. Not only this, but when we got there we had to wait for floats to be inflated and then half way thru our trip, one of our floats started going flat. After the trip we waited 2 hours to be picked up from the landing and eventually ended up riding back with another tubing company. I just feel that there are more than a few kinks that they need to work out. Even tho they gave a partial refund (not even a full individual rental) I really feel we should have gotten half of our money back that we paid. read more

We had a terrible experience from start to finish today. We had a group of 50. I verified that a group this large could be accommodated. Deposits were paid and ages were given in order to have the proper sizes and number of life jackets. Our original time for launch was 11am but got pushed back to 1130 because of the water level. We were totally fine with that however there weren't enough vests or inflated tubes. We didn't get on the river until 1245pm. Only a handful of people were told about where the exit was located. This led to a VERY dangerous situation at the end. We missed the exit and got stuck in the brush just past it. Sounds like an easy situation to simply walk back to the exit BUT the current was so strong it was pushing our tubes into the branches. Our children were crying and getting hurt from the branches. Tubes were popping. It took us 45min to get everyone out safely. A stranger brought his canoe over to try and help. Neither owners from Bailey's came and asked if we were ok. There was 1 employee who was at the exit. Later in the evening I personally reached out to them with no response. We will not be returning. We'd rather purchase our own tubes and go on our own. This business was not prepared to accommodate our large group. We arrived excited and left with scared children and exhausted parents. read more

Let me start off by saying this company is so unorganized it's ridiculous. I made a reservation for up to 12 people for Saturday 7/28/18. My reservation was for 1:15pm. My group DID NOT get into the water until around 3:30pm. As we are waiting, all they could say was we don't have enough tubes and that they are trying to get some more but couldn't find any at Academy sports. If they were taking reservations online, why wouldn't they have tubes ready for people who make reservations if they already had a clue about how many people there will be....basically, in my opinion, there was no reason to make a reservation. A couples of people from my group ended up getting a refund because they didn't want to wait any longer than what they already did. When I made the reservation, everything was through email and texting. I could never get anyone on the phone to talk to because they don't answer the phone number that is on their website. So the best way to get in contact with them is through email and texting. Anyways, I had to put down $40 to "hold" my reservation. And on the day of the reservation, they didn't give me my deposit back until I mentioned something about it. So if I would have not said anything about it, this company would of kept my deposit and called it a day. So hopefully the people who made reservations remembers to get their deposit back, if not, the company won't give it back. The only good thing I can say about Baileys is the fact that since they didn't have the tubes ready, they gave us a $5 discount for each tube. So instead of paying $20 each tube, we paid $15. As we are riding down the river one of our tubes started to deflate, so we had to make sure we all stayed together because we didn't want anyone to start drowning. So by the time we got to the drop off point, the tube was done. And the shuttle back to the parking lot where are cars were parked....nothing was wrong with the shuttle but as a company they should of had a van as a shuttle, but instead they had 2 SUV as the shuttle. Which it wasn't a big deal because they got us to our car. I saw on google that they had a 5 star rating and that's why I went with them but they disappointed me and my group. My experience was NOT a five star experience at all! But I will give them one more chance on another day to see if the experience will be different and I will go right when they open instead of in the afternoon. read more

We had a TERRIBLE experience with this company. We had a very large group (about 50 people). We all had called/emailed prior to our excursion date to reserve our spots with a $20 deposit. Our departure time was moved back by a half an hour due to heavy rain for several days prior. There was also another large group in front of us. The company was not prepared for a group our size at all. They further delayed our departure because they did not have enough life jackets for all of our kids or enough tubes! They actually had to purchase more while we waited...not an easy task to entertain 20+ kids in a parking lot in the heat. We had to remind them several times that the people who drove our cars to the end point still needed a shuttle back to the beginning. Needless to say we departed about 2 hours later than originally expected. Not one employee warned us of the high water and fast current and most of us were bever told where to get off the river! What should have been a fun day on the river quickly turned into a very dangerous situation when about 20 or more of us could not get over to the side fast enough. The current was too strong and the water was too deep. Most of the kids were able to be taken out of the water via canoe, however the majority of us had to climb through poison ivy laden brush into a nearby golf course. My 8 year old daughter hasn't stopped talking about the "worst day of her life" (the canoe flipped while we tried paddling her to land and she wound up several yards further down the river). My husband was helping pull people out of the water through the brush and is covered in poison ivy. A week later and his leg and food are still swollen. The golf course we wound up in was about a mile walk from where our cars were parked. I would not recommend this company to anyone - obviously they care more about your business than they do your safety! read more
