My husband and I had a wonderful time bouncing around to find different places to snorkel. We've never snorkeled in the area so we didn't know what we were looking for. The knowledgeable WKT crew had many suggestions and found spaces where we could enjoy the waters and sea creatures away from the crowds. The activities: We got to see the fort ruins, saw wildlife in the seagrass, and hung out in the sandbars where we found sand dollars and shells with every step. The ride: The World Cat was impressively stable on choppy water and operated smoothly. There is a sink and head to make those long outings comfortable. There is plenty of seating. A few people may be able to recline in the bow under a retractable bimini cover. The size of the boat made it possible for us to get into shallow areas and anchor wherever we wanted. If you're visiting the area or are a local looking for a private boat with a captain to give your small group a wonderful, custom tour, Wayward is the way to go!

If you go, make sure to bring windbreaker / raincoat and sweater or jacket. The owner's wife Heather is terrific. ---- In response to the business owner's comments (see below), his son did not do a good job of making the trip fun, comfortable or safe. He's not a good communicator which is important when you're working with families. It also wasn't to the best idea to go so far out, which was his call. Fortunately, I was eventually able to talk him into staying a bit closer in after a long discussion. The young captain spent much of our time out there working on the boat. After his repairs to try and fix the broken speedometer, the boat wouldn't start and we were stuck out at sea for hours. The young captain's plan was to drift back towards shore until we were in cell phone range. No flares. No emergency devices to contact anyone. No joke. It would have been a very cold and uncomfortable night and it was quite an ordeal for us and our kiddos. Fortunately, I was able to contact emergency services and got us rescued. I tried to be pretty nice in my short review and focus on the positives, but I wouldn't use this charter company again and I certainly can't recommend them. Even if we hadn't had mechanical trouble, which happens, my family much preferred the way Maverick Charters handled my family's charter. The captain didn't have us towed by professionals because it would have cost him money. And the idea that we insisted on going out in a storm or that their poor decision making, lack of preparedness, and the captian's poor communication skills were our fault is just nonsense. They changed the time of our charter and we went along with it, just as we went along with all of the captain's decisions until realizing that he was incapable of handling the situation at hand. We all make mistakes and they're not bad people, but the owner lashing out at me over a bum cruise that we were still charged full price for is pretty gross. Your training, planning, maintenance and customer service skills need work. You can do better. Live and learn.

While tracking trophy tarpons we were surprised with some fun little hammer head and black-tip sharks. Tons of action from sharks to tarpon and we landed 4 tarpon in the 100-150+ range and they were jumpers and fighters. On a whim, we decided to see if there were any afternoon charters available for 6 of us? We approached Mike (I think was his name, I'm terrible on names!) the Captain, who was onboard, and he told us the afternoon was open. What the heck, 6 of us took him up on it. Left at 1pm, dropped our first hook at 2pm. 3 hours later, a few cold beers, and some tired arms, we called it a day. Mike, was the man! Had a cooler full of ice ready, rods all set up, and worked his A$$ off to make sure we had fun! From baiting up, getting the catch off our lines, to finding the fish! Only thing bad, Grouper season ended y'day and we didn't know it, so we had to toss back the 3 nice ones we brought in. However, we did fill a cooler of keepers! Just returned from a 4 hour trip with Capt Andrew. We had to reschedule due to the weather but he…read moreaccommodated us around our vacation. We arrived a little early and Capt Andrew put the boat in the wind. The boat was clean and orderly. They had a large cooler for drinks we brought on board as well as complementary water. Once we anchored, we immediately started catching. Once the bite slowed up, we moved to another spot which was hotter then the first. Although we caught more releases then keepers, we still came to the dock with a large cooler full of fish. After we docked, the crew cleaned and fileted every fish we caught. I absolutely recommend Captain Andrew for your charter trips. I highly recommend the 8 hour or 12 hour trip!
