*** good choice for some Baja-style Mexican food in southeastern New Mexico *** When I have a lot on my mind, I drive to a new-to-me place and EAT. Baja Grill in Lovington, NM, was on my bookmarks for a long time. It was well worth the wait! At around 1:45 pm, I walked into a nearly empty restaurant. I was seated right away and served some very good red salsa and crispy, semi-thick homemade tortilla chips. I liked the variety of high-top and normal-height tables. I knew as soon as I saw "blackened tilapia" on the menu I had to have it. "Served on a bed of rice pila" ($12.99), it also came with my choice of two sides. The charro beans and fried okra were excellent! While my fish wasn't the freshest, the seasoning was really delicious. The outer edges were crispy, but inside the fish was flaky and moist. I also ordered a refreshing Sprite. Paid cash. Got just a little less than $4 back. Service was nice, but my waitress only checked on me after she realized I was ready to go. The food is fairly unique to Lea County. I can see why my employees like this place. I'm glad I had a lot on my mind that day... Really dumb parking lot, though. No painted lines so everyone just parks like idiots. And it's rather dull on the outside. Hard to easily recognize that it's a place that serves seafood. We've lived in Lovington for over a decade & didn't try Baja until a month or so ago. I have no idea why we waited! So far everything from burgers, fish sandwiches to tacos we haven't been dissatisfied. Please keep up the good work. I almost gave it a 4 star review because I wish their curb appeal was nicer - but that's my opinion & has NOTHING to do with their delicious food OR as a matter of fact EVERY server has been happy & pleasant. And out orders are always correct. So it's 5 star from me I am appreciative they are here & continue to stay open. read more

Obviously a local favorite. It was continually full the entire time we were here. The food was absolutely amazing! I had the Grilled shrimp with roasted veggies and little bakers and my husband had the NM Special. Both dishes were, perfect! We asked for to go cups for our Sweet Tea & Regular Tea and they went in the back and brewed fresh. read more

Yum! It isn't much to look at from the outside but the food is what counts. The inside could use some touch up but is clean. The shrimp plate with cheese sauce is one of the best things I've eaten in this area in a long time. The salsa with the chips was so good, I bought a quart to take to a party later! First time eating at the Baja grill. The didn't have a lot on the menu available which was disappointing. I ended up ordering the Philly cheesesteak and I have to say it wasn't very good. It had a very weird taste. The service was ok. They did bring us the wrong plates and forgot our kids pasta. We had to ask 3 times. Overall not very good. We might go back for the ribs 'if' they have them available. read more

This is probably one of my favorite restaurant in this town. Our waitress provided a really good customer service, she always made sure our glasses were full and she made sure if we have everything we need. I order a seafood platter and had the blackened tilapia replaced with Cod. Everything on the plate was delicious, but the reason for the 4 stars is their garlic mashed potatoes taste like it was made with instant mashed potatoes. I did see on their menu they have baked potatoes on the menu, so I find it unusual they would need to use instant mashed potatoes. I definitely recommend this place and I've been here a couple of times and I had no issues with their food (except the mash potatoes) read more

Every time I'm in Lovington, the Baja burger is a must have!!! The guacamole and pico are always fresh & delicious. The salsa is spicy but so delicious. Chips are definitely New Mexico, not Tex-Mex! read more

Driving by this restaurant and stopped for a quick grub and was amazed with their food. We had a Philly Cheese Steak and their BG Burger and they're amazing. Fresh and quick service. Will definitely come back to taste something else. Great job girls! read more
