The smothered burrito was really good and I recommend it. The rice and beans were not good at all.

RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 3 | Ambiance: 3 | Price: 2 PARKING Ample parking in front of the restaurant minus clear parking lot lines. LOCATION/AMBIANCE I think someone mentioned that Sarah's took the place of an old convenience store... it's pretty plain on the outside and there's no signage that I saw easily visible from the main road. Inside there were beautiful murals in bright colors with an array of tables sizes. THE GRUB Steak Ranchero plate for takeout. It wasn't even on the menu -- I asked another patron what was good. It came with one large homemade flour tortilla. No salsa was included in my order and I didn't think to ask. I kind of thought that was a given nowadays with Mexican restaurants or it usually is. My "lunch plate" did not even come with a drink. Total = $14.10. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB Yes, they have kids' plates, but my own children were in school at the time. SERVICE Friendly. Kind of slow getting to me, even though I was the only one in the restaurant. And how come there was no salsa in my to go order nor did they ask me if I wanted any?! MY FAVORITE PART... Steak ranchero. Good tender meat, but not spicy at all which I would have preferred. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The prices! TIPS + Drive-through window available + They have daily specials on a chalkboard when you walk in.

I'll get to my CONS out of the way: - limited hours on Saturdays & Sundays (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM) - credit card fee of 3.5% and I did NOT see this posted at the register - No buffet on Saturdays - chips and salsa are NOT complimentary ($6.99) My daughters and I came here for lunch for a girls day out before Mother's Day 2026 since we were spending time with family on Sunday. My dish: Tacos a la Parilla ($14.99 for 3 soft tacos with grilled brisket, guacamole, jalapenos, onions, tomatoes) served with rice and beans. Absolutely delicious. I would get this again. My oldest daughter also had a brisket taco plate ($14.99) but the crispy variety without jalapeno or pico de gallo. My youngest daughter opted for a cheeseburger ($13.89) with fries ($2.00). If those weren't fresh hand-cut fries I would be surprised. They were yummy. Slightly crisp. Not too oily. The burger I would have eaten all by myself with its buttery fluffy buns. This is a close first place for burgers in Lovington with Lazy 6 being its competition. Their horchata was divine ($4.25 × 2). My youngest was happy with her sweet tea ($3.75). Loved the vibes inside. The ceilings and lighting fixtures were very interesting. Not overly decorated. Good Mexican music playing at a good decibel. All of the staff members we interacted with were friendly. Restrooms and parking were good. I'll be a repeat offender.

PROS + beautiful, well-maintained golf course/grounds within view of the dining room + outdoor dining is also available + super friendly, efficient bartender (she's been there every single Wednesday I come in during 2023) + decent food... comes out hot and fresh! + moderately priced + many key places are within the vicinity (see my list below) + pro shop is next door + casual dress code is okay CONS I feel like the dining area could use a makeover. Also, the last visit to the women's restroom there was no soap in the dispenser (4/26/2023). I mentioned that several key campuses and sights were nearby. Here's my short list in alphabetical order: + CORE (Center of Recreational Excellence) + Hobbs Veterans Memorial + Lovington Highway Health Walk (concrete walking path parallel to Highway 18) + McAdams Park + New Mexico Junior College + University of the Southwest + Western Heritage Museum and Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame + Zia Park Casino Hotel & Racetrack

*** good choice for some Baja-style Mexican food in southeastern New Mexico ***…read more When I have a lot on my mind, I drive to a new-to-me place and EAT. Baja Grill in Lovington, NM, was on my bookmarks for a long time. It was well worth the wait! At around 1:45 pm, I walked into a nearly empty restaurant. I was seated right away and served some very good red salsa and crispy, semi-thick homemade tortilla chips. I liked the variety of high-top and normal-height tables. I knew as soon as I saw "blackened tilapia" on the menu I had to have it. "Served on a bed of rice pila" ($12.99), it also came with my choice of two sides. The charro beans and fried okra were excellent! While my fish wasn't the freshest, the seasoning was really delicious. The outer edges were crispy, but inside the fish was flaky and moist. I also ordered a refreshing Sprite. Paid cash. Got just a little less than $4 back. Service was nice, but my waitress only checked on me after she realized I was ready to go. The food is fairly unique to Lea County. I can see why my employees like this place. I'm glad I had a lot on my mind that day... Really dumb parking lot, though. No painted lines so everyone just parks like idiots. And it's rather dull on the outside. Hard to easily recognize that it's a place that serves seafood. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 4 PARKING Ample. Free. LOCATION/AMBIANCE You really can't miss the big sign outside. It's located on Main Ave on the south end of town. Inside to the left is the meat market. It's clean. Organized. Other produce & goods were available. The fresh meat & ready-to-eat options looked nice. To the right was the restaurant grill. I was going to stay to eat, but there was a rather large group, consuming most of the booths and tables. Plus it was raining outside so I took my order for takeout back to work. My food stayed relatively warm all the way to Hobbs. THE GRUB On Thursday 1/4/2024 I tried the barbecue sandwich with fries ($7.99) on the lunch special menu. The bread was kind of flaky. The sandwich itself didn't seem substantial, but with the fries that were obviously the frozen variety it was a filling lunch for me. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB I did not see a kid's menu. SERVICE Fast & friendly. MY FAVORITE PART... Good alternative for lunch. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... Wish the daily lunch special prices included a drink. TIP A drive-thru is available.
