This complaint is based on extremely poor communication, rude interactions with the 2 owners,…read moreextremely poor customer service, incorrect material delivery, unreasonable time for project completion, and a constant demand for money from the workers during the building (prior to completion) of a custom patio cover. On February 19, 2026 Mr James A from RKC along with us, planned and designed a custom patio cover for our home, an aluminum patio cover that would be attached to the house, and supported by posts that would allow for a shade to be placed. We agreed to move forward with the plans. We were originally told by James who represented RKC that it would take 8-10 weeks for the completion of this project. Approximately 9 weeks after this contract was signed, we left messages to ask for the expected date but there is no communication from this company whatsoever, no calls were returned from the RKC answering service from the corp. office, nor from the designer, and the owners. The workers themselves told us that they do not get their calls returned as well, that was very common. When we finally received the call for them to return to start, the beams were too short but he proceeded to build the patio cover anyway. He was asked to discontinue and consult the designer who he could not get a hold of. He (the builder) asked repeatedly for more money from us in order to make the patio cover the correct size to finish the job and to pay him for the metal support that would allow a screen to be placed. The forman came out on another day to attempt to rectify the issues and we were told the correct size of the beam would be re ordered and "it would not take that long". After repeated attempts to call the forman, I was able to reach him, he stated that the builder will not come until we paid him, I didn't understand what he meant because the payment is for the company upon completion of the project. On June 5th, 2026 the builder returned but the beam that was ordered was the wrong color. On June 14, 2026 four months after the original completion date, the project was finally finished. I do not and would not ever recommend this company to anyone, it was a mistake to ever have been in business with them.

When he didn't show up at the agreed on time, I messaged and later he said he was held up on a job which was far away (didn't bother to let me know he couldn't make our appointment) but he could be here in the afternoon. I said OK, but that's cutting it short because I had to leave in the late afternoon. He didn't bother to ask me my address until he was leaving that job, which I didn't see that text for a half hour. By then it was clear he wasn't going to make it by the time I had to leave, so I said let's make it for another day and asked what day worked for him. No response. I asked the next day if he wanted to reschedule, no response again. Guess you're too busy for me. Fine. I won't use you for this project or any other, nor recommend you to my neighbors, friends or family.

Of the 2 addresses listed, 1 was not current anymore (as of a few months) and the other he was not "in". Both are virtual offices, not really a place where he conducts business. We will be filing a police report. I started to get a work-up of our sunroom plans with this company under name of San Diego Sunroom Sales on 7/24 asking us to get started with $7k for deposit and as such we awaited the process but something didn't feel right so I asked for another bid from another co. The 2nd co had never heard of this one and made me leery of working w SD Sunroom Sales. They showed me another co reviews, named Sunroom and Patio Room of SD, which had bad reviews made me uncomfortable to continue w this vague company. When I called and left message that we were going to go with someone else I never heard back. It's been 2 wks of zero response. Check out the stuff on their website and then look at Yelp reviews. Doesn't match up either! None of their website reviews have actual customer profiles. Ask for their contractors license # but mostly don't trust this co!

Is been a year and we have nothing and they refuse to give us our money back. John Scott is the name of the salesman and he works under Elitewood Sunrooms and Sunrooms and Patiorooms of San Diego. We are in difficult times and we work hard to put that money together for our project to have this people take advantage of the situation. They don't deserve any stars I just need it one to place this review!!
