Beautiful view of the bridge, plenty of hot sand and unlimited cold ocean water. Parking is not easy but can park in the residential and walk down here. Restrooms shower optional

This beach is small. There are 2 different parking lots. One is small and only has porta-potties where the other one is bigger with a structure of bathroom (but the sink is broken). GPS seems to direct people to the smaller one for some reason. There is a sandy trail to the parking lots. There is a view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the beach. Parking is free.

Parking was a bit of a challenge but successful! We visited on a chilly day in May so I was a little surprised that parking wasn't easier. That aside, this beach has so much beautiful sand, a lot of coastline, and a stunning view of the Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. Baker Beach was recommended by our front desk agent in LA (Autumn at the Dream Hollywood), and she was spot-on with this suggestion!

I took myself on a solo date to Baker Beach yesterday and it was exactly what I needed. Parked in the neighborhood sine the lot was full. Was on my a 15 minute walk from my car down to the beach. The fresh air, the sound of the waves, and the peaceful atmosphere made it such a relaxing experience. The vibes here are just different -- calm, grounding, and honestly so good for the soul. It's the perfect spot to clear your mind, take a walk, or just sit and take everything in. Plus, the views of the Golden Gate Bridge make it even more special. Highly recommend taking yourself on a solo date here. I'll definitely be back whenever I need to reset ‍

One of my favorite beaches in San Francisco! It's a smaller beach and can get busy on warm days, but it's absolutely worth a visit. The views of the Golden Gate Bridge are incredible, and I love getting a glimpse of Sea Cliff along the coastline. A beautiful spot for a walk, relaxing by the water, or watching the sunset

We went on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm and got very lucky with clear blue skies with no spotting of Karl the fog. There is a convenient free parking lot right next the beach. Great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and beach itself is well maintained. Seems like a popular spot for fishing Highly recommend checking out Baker beach - I would definitely return!

In honor of Earth Day I was encouraged to share Baker Beach. We visited for the first time a few weeks ago and it was a beautiful day. The view of the Golden Gate bridge is perfect. We brought blankets, sandwiches, chips and sodas and ate lunch on the beach. The water is ice cold but the experience is worth it.

Probably the best place to visit the ocean in SF. Went today - what a way to beat the heat - very popular place to go on this long holiday weekend. The whole city today was buzzing. Little Italy had double the amount it normally does on an afternoon and the perfect weather had people out and about. Very scenic beach. I feel as if its best for photo opportunities - wedding photos and such. The beach is very close to Golden Gate bridge and popular with tourists and locals alike. This is in the Presidio technically - so it is government owned land - don't try anything funny - leave your weed at home. I don't think its allowed here. Police and security in this area is incredible. I once saw a homeless take a seat at a bus stop bench and the police got rid of him within 5 minutes. They drive around and have nothing to do. So be careful. Cross your T's dot your i's.

One of my favorite beach crabbing spots with a view ..The Gate on on side and open ocean on the other... unfortunately many people enjoy leaving their trash all over the sand occasionally...nevertheless a great day spot !

Awesome beach with chilly water, shore break and an excellent view of the golden gate bridge! There are only 2 cons: parking and the porta potties without toilet paper- BYOTP!!! Other than that, this place would be an excellent spot to have a beach day. I intend to do that next time I'm in the area!

This is my go-to beach whenever I'm in SF. So pretty and plenty of space for a nice picnic/beach day. We went on St.Patty's weekend so it was busier than usual but there's always plenty of parking. We parked on the street which was about a 10-15 minute walk from the beach- not bad at all!

The ocean is so calming! Yesterday was a peaceful day with little to no people around. I just wanted to share the beautiful views, I got to take in.... If you have never been to this beach you should give it a try.

I may have left a small part of my heart at Baker Beach. When visiting SF for work, two of my friends and I knew we had to go see the bridge even if it was for a brief amount of time. While doing my research (on Yelp, of course) I came across this beach -- easy to access, beautiful views and you can see the whole bridge! We grabbed breakfast to-go, and hopped in our uber to Baker Beach. What a BEAUT. The fog was still rolling out, but during our time there it slowly disappeared and the sun started to peak. The waves crashing, the bridge in the distance, and a long walk on the beach with some friends was the perfect start to the morning. It was chilly, but not as bad as I expected it to be down by the beach. There were so many dogs playing, which brings me so much joy to see! It was well kept, no liter, just truly a beautiful spot. I highly recommend baker beach as a spot to relax and check out the Golden Gate Bridge from a distance! So beautiful. I can't wait to come back.

Ask the Community - Baker Beach

    Is baker beach dog friendly?

I definitely have seen dogs on baker beach

Is this beach still a nudist beach? If so…

Women can go there nude but don't so much anymore. Men need to police the other men who stare and throw pebbles at women like an animal at the zoo. Otherwise no women don't go because they don't want to be visually assaulted by predators.

When does the gate open for the parking lot?

    I am not sure 🤠

How's the parking ? is is bad?

Only when the weather is 75° or more. There's a few parking lots some are a bit of a walk from the beach

Is the beach open due to COVID-19?

Current closure information in Golden Gate National Recreation Area can be found here: https://www.nps.gov/goga/planyourvisit/temporary-facilities-closure-advisory.htm

There are a couple of restrooms at the entrance of the Eastern parking lot. The nude area is closer to the bridge, as you walk all the way down.

So it says the beach is closed @ 7pm everyday but can people still stay until sunset b/c it's usually around 8:30-9pm for sunset now?

Baker Beach parking lot is closed to parking from one hour after sunset (or when gates are closed), until 6 a.m. year-round.

Do we have to pay for parking?

Although Baker Beach Parking was closed over the Fourth of July weekend, it is currently open. Parking is free. See the latest closure information here: https://www.nps.gov/goga/planyourvisit/temporary-facilities-closure-advisory.htm

No bonfires are not allowed at Baker Beach.

Does anyone know if this beach is currently open?

Baker Beach and its parking lots have reopened.

I want to go, but not sure when the perfect time of year id?

It is San Francisco. Fog is an ever present possibility. Dress for it and expect it. Generally July & August are foggy more than winter as the hot air in the central valley comes over the mountains, hits the icy cold Humboldt Current and makes…

Is North Baker still clothing optional?

Yes. Go north up the beach towards the GG bridge. This is where you want to be for clothing optional fun

    Does this beach have showers?

There are no showers at Baker Beach.

Can you see fireworks on 4th of July from this beach?

No. This beach faces the ocean and not the bay where the fireworks are shot off.

    Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are allowed on Baker Beach North of Lobos Creek.

Can you BBQ on the beach?

I've seen people do this yes! Not sure of the official rule though

    Can you BBQ there?

I've had the Salvadoran coffee pop up (can't remember the name) and what coffee Vietnamese iced coffee (yum!). Restrooms at the park are very clean, however my son has a sensitivity to noise so the bathrooms in the Sports Basement are where we go as they are quieter. Sports basement is a great place to checkout too. They have bikes you can rent for the family (the ones that ride like 6 people) and so on. Definitely check this place out when you're in the city!

Presidio Tunnel Tops is definitely the new parkland that The City deserves! This is a vast haven with lush greeneries and play areas for kids, adults and paw companions. Reservations are encouraged for larger groups with assigned picnic tables and lawn areas, otherwise, it's a first come first served basis with people setting up blankets in the well manicured grass turf. With magnificent views of the Golden Gate, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Palace of Fine Arts and SF's iconic skyline, while standing on one spot. What more could you ask for? Sans marine layer of course. This park is also near the Walt Disney Family Museum for fans of the house of mouse. Helpful reminders for first time visitors. Either get early for parking or forget the adjacent lots like the French Court area and just go to the Anza Avenue, Outpost Meadow or the Crissy Field East Beach parking areas. Parking is free after 6 PM to 8 AM, so that is a plus for sunset vigils. Don't forget to pay at any of the kiosks! Plate number is mandatory. No printed receipt needed. It gets chilly and windy here so bring layers even in the summer. If you can, bring your own snacks and drinks as food truck and Il Parco offerings can get tourist trap pricey. All-Gender restrooms with communal sinks are located by the Presidio Field Station and the cafe.

We walked up the HUGE San Francisco hill to the park, and then the whole park is a hill. The park is beautiful, there are sidewalks throughout, a nice playground for kids, a dog park area with a fence around it, and a summit area. Near the summit there was a coffee truck, Native Twins Coffee, that was perfect to grab a coffee or matcha. The dog park was a good size, it's long and fenced in, but on the hill so if you're planning on playing fetch/catch with your dog it'll either be throwing up hill or chasing it downhill. There were some trees, so there was some shade in the area too, plus a water fountain in case your dog gets thirsty. I will say, there were dogs all over the park off leash, not just in the turfed dog area. The dogs that were off leash were well behaved, but we kept an eye on our dog (on leash) and the others around us just to be safe. The summit is really pretty with some areas to sit down and plenty of shade. The view was great, and there were groups of people there for a birthday party. The playground area also had some seating nearby and another party was happening in that area. Despite the giant hill, this was a very cute park. I'd definitely stop by again.
