We really liked this place. It was very clean. Staff were helpful, absolutely no complaints. It's walking distance to down town and honestly a perfect location. Baker City is a great town to visit. Would definitely come back and stay again.

Great spot for sleep on a precious town However, the parking lot is treacherous. It is hilly and bumpy and extremely difficult to manage. Be careful. Breakfast good. Front desk is great.

READ IN ENTIRETY BEFORE BOOKING Made the reservation on my phone while headed across Idaho, on Labor Day Saturday. Took a chance because reviews I saw were very split. Actually glad I did. Had to use booking.com because that's what the hotel website uses. Room options are confusing. After booking they called to confirm and asked if I had pets (no) Apparently I had booked a pet room. When I checked in a few hours later someone was at the desk complaining about their room and asking to move. My hoped faded. However when it was my turn she told me that she had upgraded my room to one of the updated rooms. Now the split reviews made sense. About 1/2 of the rooms are updated. And they are absolutely adorable. Super comfy bed. Pillows are soft (too soft according to my husband - I travel with one so can't comment) I have no idea how to confirm you're getting an updated room (booking.com does not clarify) so would highly recommend making a reservation over the phone. Breakfast was limited but good. And staff very friendly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. LOVED the location. Clerk gave me a list of recommendations for dinner and we walked a few blocks to check out all of them. SO close and convenient. There is also supposed to be a trail nearby but we stayed at dinner too late to locate it. This is a vintage motor lodge. Rooms are NOT ADA accessible for anyone in a wheelchair as halls and doors are narrow. But they do have walk-in showers.

Notice small TV, and it faces down, no upper light banquet chairs, and I think that was a closet. Bathroom door was only 24" wide.

We rolled in after a full Gorge run Multnomah Falls, Bridge of the Gods, past The Dalles Dam and John Day Dam already feeling like we were chasing something. And we were. Enter the crew: my Ghostbuster-style buddy with all the blinking gear, a slick all-black BMW mystery man, and us two curious "innocents" with a couple drinks and bad ideas. Room? Gorgeous. Massive ceilings. Old-school class. Vibe? ...different after dark. You hear it first. The creaks. Then you feel it. Like you're not alone. Lights off, shadows moving different. And that little detector? It didn't just blink it lit up. I didn't show up believing in ghosts. But I left thinking... something's there. Stay at the Geiser Grand Hotel for the history. Stay a little longer if you want the mystery. Next time I'm sleeping with the lights on.

On our way out my husband asked very nicely if we could look at the adjoining atrium area. The 2 boys at the desk said no, the public isn't allowed. My husband kindly said "oh, okay" and then took a step closer looking up at the decorative ceiling. No aggression, no threat just looking up. Immediately, the blonde boy jumped in front of him and said "you need to leave" and practically pushed him towards the door. We were both shocked by the angry and aggressive tone so we didn't move immediately so they both said they were going to call the police. Never have we been treated with such disrespect! Small towns are usually welcoming but not here apparently!! Dear Ginger- OF COURSE the story from your staff would be vastly different from the actual events. From previous reviews, this is the EXACT response I knew I'd see. Hotels are supposedly in the "hospitality" industry and private or not, your staff were not hospitable or welcoming. Every person, paying guest or not, should be considered a prospective guest. But it is evident that the staff's kindness is only extended if there is money involved. It's your business, so of course, our experience won't matter much in how you choose to treat people, which is unfortunate. Best of luck to you!

The atmosphere of the whole property is just wonderful. The grounds are beautiful, the spaces are welcoming, and everything feels thoughtfully cared for. Whether you're dining, visiting, or staying, there's a sense of comfort and ease that makes you want to linger a little longer. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the people. The owner and staff go above and beyond to take care of you, and they do it in such a warm, friendly way that feels more like being welcomed by family than just being a guest. It genuinely feels like a place where people care. It's rare to find a place that gets everything right--food, atmosphere, and service--but this is one of them. I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself. A heartfelt thank you to the owner and the entire team--you are truly amazing and so appreciated.

There was no shampoo in our room and the phone didn't work to call the front desk for more. The drunk man stumbling in the hall knocking on different doors with a cigarette in his hand did not make me feel confident in where we were staying. Jackie at the front desk was very kind when we checked in. Breakfast was busy and had some options but there was no water and was pure chaos with the amount of kids running around. It didn't seem like there were many mid range hotels in the area. It might be worth paying more to have a little nicer of a spot. For reference we paid 140 for a Friday night and won't be staying here again.

For the price this was a good room and it was quiet where we were on the 2nd floor. In the morning there was a bunch of little birds singing..maybe some of their nests are in a nearby tree. It was a cheery sound. My one complaint is that the soap (2 "bars") are comically sized like postage stamps. (They fall apart as soon as water hits them and don't provide enough soap for a complete shower). Aside from this, we liked the room and would stay there again (but perhaps bring our own soap)?

Receptionist was very pleasant and personable. Very nice start. Couldn't get a ground floor room being I'm disabled and had no reservation ,but dragged my saggy arse upstairs with the wife in tow. Nice room, a bit aged, but clean, couldn't get the tv to work, (boomer brain fog) but not a big deal anyhow. The internet was good, that worked fine. Water pressure and temperature was great. Coffeemaker was broken, but worked. Had a small microwave and fridge. Heater worked great being it was very very cold outside, glad for that. Bed was clean and comfy. Another plus, slept great. Beautiful location with a view of the Wallowa mountains In the distance, very friendly people here, went to the restaurant called the " truck corral" about 65 yards away. Had a good decent breakfast, good food, huge portions. Very nice waitress and staff all around. Decent hotel. It's not the Taj mahal but very suitable, it's old but had some excellent tile work which I though was great in the bathroom, see pic. Was about in my price range which is low budget since I travel quite frequently. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 80.00 bucks. Would come back again is the key point...yes I would, and will. Thank you El Dorado.
