I ordered 50 Lbs of Organic Cane Sugar and I received two 25 lbs of Baking Flour. I emailed the customer support and sent a picture of what I received and they replied to me saying they were sorry. They asked me in the email if I wanted to keep the Flour at a discount and I refused. I only wanted what I ordered. I received a second package a week later and I could not believe it, it was a 5 lbs bag of Organic Baking Flour. The invoice in the box actually had on it 50 lbs of Organic Cane Sugar. This company is in serious trouble. I WILL NOT ORDER FROM THEM EVER AGAIN. I have been emailing them for 2 days with no response. Ordered 2 50lb bags of flour from here during the COVID-19 pandemic. I emailed them after a week to request a status update. They immediately responded and said they were planning to ship it that day. The flour was delivered the next day in perfect shape. Not bad for a company that has been swamped with orders--and it's located in NYC, which as you know has been hit particularly hard. When shipping cost is factored in, the price for the flour was comparable to what you pay for at the store (which has had empty flour shelves lately where I live). I placed an order more than a week ago and nothing has happened with my order. I have sent multiple emails and get no response. I have asked to cancel my order, and still no response. This is the worst customer service experience ever. In a time like this you would think that companies would value any new business and take care of their customers. No complaints at all. Ordered 50 lbs of flour, and it was on my doorstep in 11 days (7 business days). Customer service was very responsive, even though I didn't really need to contact them. I sent an email a week after placing the order just to check on its status, and I heard back within a few minutes that the order had already been sent to the warehouse for shipping. It arrived a couple of days later. Better than I'd expected, actually, given current circumstances and some of the negative reviews. I won't hesitate to order from them again. read more

I placed one order on 3/21 and a second order on 3/22, both 50 lb. bags of flour. I received both orders 7 days later. All of the people complaining need to understand that Bakers Authority has probably been slammed with orders and it is taking more time to get those orders out since I placed mine in March. They do have chat and a phone # available, if needed. I would definitely order again without hesitation, I have recommended them and I have also mentioned their site to each baking Facebook page I am a member. No email, only tries to contact customers via phone call. Cancelled order without explanation or correspondence (aside from calling). Update: They must watch Yelp and google reviews, an explanation email arrived 20 minutes after posting. Still, their first course of action should speak to level of customer service to expect. read more

Can order from them online, and even just last summer you could get a decent deal on 5 pound bags of some flours that are hard to find elsewhere if you ordered enough of them. Now they raised their 5 lb prices and you might as well buy from King Arthur and other specialty retailers if going to pay that much anyway. The specialty retailed may even be less. And this from a company that actually owns mills?! Won't be buying from BA again. What a shame. read more

I had read both positive & negative reviews, but gave these guys the benefit of the doubt and placed a small, 1 item order to try them out. Long story short, I placed an order for a $10 item with a shipping cost of $7 something, which was posted for the item. The order was placed and when I reviewed the confirmation of the order sent to my e-mail, my credit card had been charged $28 something, which included "$17" for shipping. It was a holiday weekend, so instead of calling, I immediately sent an email to customer service requesting either a correction to the shipping charge or a cancellation of the order. I then did a google review of my experience thus far and rated Baker's Authority a "1", with a notation that after a follow up phone call to my email I would post another review based on my customer service experience in resolving the problem. (I also told them in my email that I had posted 1 review & would be posting a second one.) When I contacted them by phone, a less than friendly person handled my call. When I gave her my order number and explained the situation, she offered me a lower shipping rate of $12 instead of the $17. Since the item ordered was only $10, I declined that offer and requested cancellation of the order, which she told me was done. I really appreciated them resolving the situation without further hassle, but I am giving them a 2 rating instead of a 3 based on the cold reception I got from customer service. Customer service is not an easy job at times, but a friendly voice and conveying a genuine attitude of wanting to provide the customer with a positive experience with the company goes a long way to promote public relations. read more

Wonderful high quality product sold by a company that aims to please, and it shows. Buying a 50-lb. bag of GF Whole Oat Flour and storing it in the fridge in zip-loc bags has saved me half off the best price I could find elsewhere. Highly recommended. read more
