I get that shops sometimes have to close unexpectedly, but a simple phone call would have saved me a wasted trip, and a follow-up afterward would have gone a long way. Instead, total silence. I made an appointment to buy Kuhmo All Terrain Tires for my Dodge Ram. The appointment was set for Aug 17th. I called the morning of Aug 17th to see what time I should bring my truck in. I was told on the phone that they did not see an appointment for me. I was taken aback because I recall the full conversation. I was given a price and everything including a Military Veterans discount. I took time off from work to prepare for that. I let it go. So, Wednesday was my day off. I drove in Wednesday morning at 9:15am and told the SAME guy who I'd spoke to on the 10th, "Hey, you never put my appointment in the system!" He checked and didn't see it. He tells me, he's sorry. He's had a few rough days but he could definitely get me in today. My wife takes time away from work to pick me up. I leave my truck. He said someone would call when it was done. 4:30pm comes, no call. I drive in and I see my truck sitting there with no tire change. I go inside and ask the guy at the desk. What's up?? You haven't touched my car. He was clueless. Didn't even realize I had a truck there. And now my wife has to take time out to drop me off AGAIN to pick up a truck that was never worked on. The guy who twice made promises was not there. I was prepared to give them $1200 of my hard earned money, and no one cares. I was told, "we only have two people working. I didn't know about it. etc." excuses. I took a picture of my tires and called another company to order the tires. I won't even try Mavis Discount tires again. I'd give them zero stars if I could. Buyer Beware Tire Troubles: Mavis Tire Fails to Deliver on Safety Promise Let me share a wild ride of frustration and disappointment I recently experienced at Mavis Discount Tire . It all started on a regular day when I was in the area for a medical visit and found out our CRV needed four new tires. It seemed like a routine fix, but little did I know, it would turn into a nightmare. During a late night trip to Albany Medical Center early last week (around 900 miles with the new tires) we heard a loud banging sound while driving. To our horror, we discovered that the lug nuts on the front driver's side tire were loose and so we tightened them back on and proceeded with caution. We also discovered that all 4 tires were significantly low so we filled them to their required amount. . We ended up having to abandon the car in Canajoharie the next day when rechecking the tire on the way home and discovering it had been pushed off again resulting in 3 missing lugs. That's a dangerous situation that needed immediate attention. We contacted Mavis Tire right away for help. They requested the car be towed to their Ballston Spa location. They asked us if we had a preference of a tow company and we did and they explained that they would take care of him when he got there. They never paid Flanny as promised and from that point on, we were lied to again and again. They told Flanny to call for payment but never took the call. They told us that Flanny never came to see them regarding payment but somehow they had the invoice and he didnt take their payment method either way so we would need to get it from corporate. They told us at corporate that the manager doesnt have the authority to write a check over $300 and our bill was $320 and that was why he wasn't paid. They told us Friday morning that they ordered a rim and it will be here Monday. But here's where things took an even more frustrating turn. They proceeded to say we would be responsible. We reached out to the general manager who interrogated us during the call and then called us back after 6 pm on Friday to tell us that HE investigated and because it has over 900 miles and ran fine for the first 3 weeks we had it that we did something to cause it, refusing to take any responsibility and dismiss our concerns. They later refused to cover the towing costs to bring the car to their shop, refuse to fix the tires and replace the rim and finally leaving us to foot the bill for getting it back to us from Ballston Spa. It's a reminder to always double-check where you take your car for service and demand accountability for your safety. I can only assume this is an isolated event but when you make a mistake, you do what's right and fix it. We asked for nothing more than for you to redo the tires and replace anything that broke or is unsafe as a result of the tire coming loose and pay for the original tow bill. This should have never escalated. This is poor poor customer service.

('cos, you know, "we had to remove the front end off the carrrr!") michaels crew did the job quickly, and even noticed a detail relating to another light, which i was unaware of. they repaired it. with no whining. and they charged a very reasonable price. i am both impressed and thrilled. thank you, MICHAEL'S AUTOMOTIVE. you will see us again.

He is friendly and accommodating and does not shy away from a complicated problem. I no longer travel through Ballston Spa as I used to, so he is out of the way now - but we travel the distance to get the service. We trust him - he's a no nonsense kind of mechanic and keeps and eye on saving us money. When I forget that the muffler has a lifetime warranty, Jim reminds me. He could take advantage of us, and never has. I tell everyone I know that he is our preferred shop. He can be found helping random people who stop in and does so for free. He's just a real nice fellow and an excellent mechanic!
