I don't recommend anyone goes here for a used vehicle. I traded a 2019 pickup for a 2015 Subaru and within 2 weeks 3 of 4 calipers seized, it was previewed as ice cold ac when In fact the seals needed replaced so the ac doesnt even work, had a rattling noise in the clutch, and a very noticeable vacuum leak which you don't notice until you reach higher speeds. not to mention I made an appointment a week prior to my appointment date, dropped the car off at 8am for an oil change and the listed above issues to be diagnosed, well here we are Tuesday after multiple calls and told would call back, nothing. I pull in at 2pm and my cars in the same spot it was when I left it Monday. buyers beware, this place is a joke. read more

I'm thrilled to write a 5-star review. Why? First of all, the tire store in Saratoga that has serviced 2 cars for many years complains regularly that they're too busy and can't fit me in. So I called Rowland St. and they said if I want to wait during the service, I could have an appointment in about 2 days. A few more minutes on the phone and it was set up. Also, their new building has a pleasant waiting area and pleasant, low-key staff. Have you had a jiffy oil change where they try to add on unnecessary services that you don't need? That didn't happen here. I explained what I was after, I pointed out something else I found, and I got good advice on how to resolve it. There was no upselling. Finally, I figured the service I needed would be outrageously expensive, so I researched to get a feel for what I was in for. IMHO, the final bill reflected a reasonable price for parts which I expected to be marked up obscenely. The labor, too, seemed fair for the task. In all it was a lot of money but it seemed appropriate after my worrying beforehand. I didn't expect to be saying this, but I'll probably be back for my next auto service. read more

What a horrible experience from a repair and customer service stand point. Originally went to replace front struts; instead inherited a myriads of problems. First, tools were left under the hood that they used. Sloppy and rushing. Recommendation was made to replace the back brakes. We trusted their expertise. Once installed, screws were left out and started to grind and make funny noises. Since we know about car repairs, we investigated to find these negligence. They did try to rectify, but they were not interested in standing behind their business name and make it right. We returned 3 times to address these concerns. They tried to address, but the damage was done. Mind you, we already spent thousands of dollars and still assumed the best to support local business. We are taking the truck elsewhere and have to spend extra money to get their unacceptable work done correctly. Read the inconsistency in the reviews. It's concerning when reviews have such dichotomy of extreme positive to negative. Consistency is key in any successful business. read more

Had oil changed on Tuesday. They left my oil cap off. And I did not see a light come on till I was 45 min away. I called immediately as soon as I realized the cap was off. They WOULD NOT HELP ME on a Saturday. They told me I was out of luck on a Saturday as the "business closes down". That they could not fix my car till Monday. Unbelievable. Will not be going there again. Tell your friends. I am a single woman and I am having to have my car towed all over Albany with no other vehicle. Poor poor customer service and negligent technical service. Hopefully my entire car is not ruined. If I could give negative stars I would. read more

What a great mechanic service We drove from out of state with a problem The car steering was off. Jennifer said we will try to squeeze you in on what appeared to be a very busy day. Gary the mechanics called hours later with what we thought would be expensive bad news. He said a bolt came lose from another shop's repair. He had an extra in shop. Fixed it. Charged a minimal labor fee. Texted a day later to make sure car was still operating well. Rare to see such great customer service and follow up. We'd drive another six hours just to get them to repair anything again! read more

Don't do business here. I am a female who owns a Toyota Camry and I couldn't figure out why I was having so much trouble with it. I went to Rowland street garage a few months ago. The owner of Rowland St Garage said that suddenly my car wouldn't start and was extremely rude with me. After several conversations and missing time at work. I had the car towed because the owner said all of a sudden my car was NOT turning on, thus I wouldn't be able to get it fixed elsewhere. After keeping the car for several days they said that the repair would cost somewhere between 500-600 dollars. I was in disbelief so I called my regular mechanic and decided to take it to him. So I called a tow truck. The owner swore and yelled at me (after he had not done any actual work on my car he had only assessed what was wrong.) I took it to my regular mechanic and he told me that not only the car was starting up (paid for a tow truck for nothing) and also the only thing that was wrong with was a spark plug that cost less than 10 bucks! That was lucky and saved me over 500 dollars! I say buyer beware. Stay away from that place. I just wanted to share my story so that hopefully others would not be taken advantage of at that garage. I wrote a review for this business a few years ago noticed it was taken down/filtered and noticed several others were also "filtered." I bought a car from them about 1 month ago. I told them before I bought the car that there was a clunk in the front end. They promised me they brought it in and looked and found nothing wrong and there was no clunking. I was away on business and told them ok great go ahead and register it and gave them my deposit. I picked it up and drove home and the clunk was still there. I called and spoke to the owner and he still maintained nothing wrong . I took the car to my mechanic and they found the problem immediately. Turned out to be intermediate steering shaft was going bad. Went back to Roweland Street Garage and showed them. They insisted there was nothing wrong, still. Their mechanic took a test drive and said yeah I hear it but it isn't a safety issue so they were not going to fix it. I called a Toyota dealer and they confirmed that it is definitely a safety concern. After a long discussion, they agreed to replace it if I paid half the cost of the part. So I agreed to it so it would be taken care of. Part of the deal was that they would do an alignment because the steering wheel would be off center after replacing the shaft. They did the work and of course the steering wheel was off center. They didn't account for the time to align it that day so I had to bring it back again. They did the alignment on the next possible day. When I got the car back the steering wheel was cocked the other direction . I brought it right back and they drove it down the road and said it is perfect and to enjoy the car because I wouldn't bring it back that day again for the alignment . He said it with a huge smug smile on his face . I got back in the car and drove home . He was right , I won't be back ! I found that they lack attention to detail and an overall condescending attitude that they are right and customer is always wrong. I don't understand how someone can look you in the eye knowing they are wrong and insist that the problem is with you. read more

Brought our car in because it was sputtering hard and was told it was either one of two things. The mechanic took a guess and fixed one of them. The next day, We broke down and had to be towed back. Turns out it was that second problem and we had to shell out nearly a grand to fix it, After already paying them around $600 for the previous job. The real kicker for me was when we were talking to them after we had broken down. The receptionist's concern wasn't about us, Wasn't about knowing if we were ok considering we broke down on a busy highway. Instead, It was all about denying that they were responsible. It was all about denying that they caused the problem and that they weren't at fault. Which is kind of funny considering that in the 5-6 years we owned the car, We never broke down before, Never had to get towed and even though the car was sputtering before they fixed it, It still drove fine. And even after they fixed it, They messed up the job. They screwed a screw too tight and it broke through a small pipe and was causing problems with our car. Problems that were no longer there once we removed the screw, patched the pipe and put the screw back in. It's a very unprofessional garage that charges you way too much money and can't even get the job done right the first time. read more

I've found them to be fair, honest and decently priced. I've had a variety of work done here including a rebuilt transmission that was over $3K and they took the time to explain my options, offer an opinion and let me decide for a couple of days. I've never felt that they treated me better or worse because I'm female. I know a decent amount about cars so my dad taught me what to ask and what to look out for when you are using a shop. I've referred friends here when their (previous) mechanics were ripping them off big time and I got bought a pizza because my suggestion worked out. Had more problems with the vehicle than before it was dropped off. The car died on the side of the road, as the battery cables were not secured. After changing the brakes, used wrong or contaminated brake fluid, and I had to have all of brakes changed again including the abs system and had the brake system flushed. Also had to replace alternator as the belt was put on to tight. They ruined my vehicle. read more

Great family owned business with great customer service along with reasonable rates

Went to them not long ago for work. Since there, asked how much for oil change. Was told $25. Great price for 50/50, so added it to the list of work. Didn't look at bill summary when paid as total wasn't far off from quote. Later, reviewed the bill statement to find that I was charged the $25 for oil change and an additional labor charge of $107.50 to do the oil change!! NEVER have I EVER had to pay "labor" for an oil change. I was quite outraged. However, I am one who believes in second chances. Went to them recently to rent a Uhaul. I have rented MANY uhauls (first time from them.) They did not follow procedure for rental (checking equipment with you before leaving, etc.) Returned with Uhaul, again they did not follow return procedure (going over equipment once returned, checking gas gauge, check mileage, etc.) Uhauls are rented on a "held" credit card. When Uhaul is returned, they are to calculate your actual usage and you sign your receipt for credit card authorized payment. They skipped this as well. I then find my actual receipt that was emailed to me 5 days later totaled more than it should have been. I found on the receipt that Rowland garage ADDED the extra coverage deal of $10, which I had opted out of when reserved the Uhaul. Had to call Uhaul, explain, they called Rowland garage who didn't argue the "refund" of that $10. Bottom line, they do not divulge full cost of work when asked and they try to add cost where it doesn't exist. I DO NOT recommend this garage to anyone!!! They now had 2 strikes with me; I don't go back for that third. I leave reviews. read more

Someone referred me to them. They refer to themselves as transmission specialists. My trucks transmission died so I called and they said they would make my transmission "better than new". I had the referral and I like supporting local businesses so I hired them. Transmission was replaced in the time promised and they have me a year warranty which they would honor so long as I brought it back at six months for a check up. Literally one month after the repair the transmission failed. They found that the seals they installed were faulty and the transmission fluid drained into some "pan". They then yelled at me for not checking the transmission fluid levels weekly (who does that?). Six months later, overdrive failed on the transmission. Did some research and found that some sort of clip breaks and simply needs to be replaced. They replaced the clip but tried to charge me $350 as they went ahead and services the transmission. I refused to pay as I never authorized the service and there is no need to service a tranny that is only a few months old. I then took a second vehicle there (stupid me) to have bearings replaced. They said they could give me bearings that would last about a year or for a little more I could get a better quality that would last for 2 years. I opted for the two year and the bearings failed after only 9 months. About a month later the the tranny in my truck lost 4th gear. Lesson now learned, I refused to bring it back as I have learned to make due without the gear and have no other problems since. God only knows what would have gone wrong had I brought it back to them yet again. Simply, these people are crooks. Do yourself a favor and go to either Ken's Sunoco at the corner of 50 & 67 or Rich's on Doubleday Ave across from Ballston Spa vet. Both are extremely honest and reasonable. read more

I have been bringing all of my vehicles here for the past year, I have never experienced such honest, dependable service. I needed an expensive part on my car and they took the time to research my vehicle and found out that the part was still covered under warranty and directed me where to get it repaired. Wow! Not too often that someone would take the time to research that and save me from spending that money. They always take my vehicle in right away and finish it promptly and reasonable. This garage saved me & my husband almost $2000.00! Our trailblazer broke down on the NYS Thruway just past exit 26, lost power and transmission fluid was draining out of the now parked vehicle. The tow company took it to a Transmission Repair shop in Schenectady. The news from the that shop was $2400.00 for the transmission and an additional couple hundred dollars for the lines. One of the Account Managers I work with told me not to do that. Contact Rowland Street garage. I did and the tech at Rowland Street told me that the lines needed to be tested first to see if the transmission needed to be replaced. He went and picked up the vehicle from the transmission shop, replaced the lines and believe it or not NO TRANSMISSION ISSUES!!!! No big bill and it was ready within days. We could not believe our great luck had we not gone there our story would be totally sad! read more
