Food was delicious and its a dog friendly place so that was a plus. You have the option to sit inside or outside so depending on the weather you can decide. The filter coffee was the beat i had in Amsterdam but i am American so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Pancakes had the right amount of syrup and fruit. Id def comeback here but hopefully by then i have a furry companion to come with!
Had a terrific experience at Bakers & Roasters. They nailed the whole meal, and we couldn't have been more happy! The chai latte was delicious. I have a hard time finding one I really love, but this chai was perfect. Both our meals were fantastic! I got the verge brekkie, which included eggs, cheese, avocado, potatoes, mushrooms, toast and jam. I didn't miss the meat! The mushrooms were in an amazing creamy sauce that I could have drank! The homemade spicy jam was tasty too. Mr B loved his B&R special, which was a traditional breakfast. Everything was cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and efficient. It's a nice atmosphere inside, but very busy. Be prepared for a wait. We signed up outside, only to see others get in before us that has arrived after us. Frustrating, but we figured out the online system. Recommend Bakers and Roasters!
Very nice breakfast/brunch spot. We got the Dutch and vege breakfast plates for lunch on a rainy day. We had about a 15 minute wait on a weekday afternoon for lunch, guessing this place gets reallly popular over the weekends. It was close to the museums and the Heineken experience, so we made a pit stop here for lunch. The food was great, clean and fresh! Since they were so busy, it took forever to get the food. So if you are trying to keep an appointment, think twice.
Phew finally some good protein! As a visitor from the US one can only have but so much bread so we went on the hunt for eggs and this place did not disappoint. It's pretty small inside and there was a waitlist to get on when we showed up. Since we were a party of two the time went by fast. They had great coffee options as well as a few cocktails. My friend had an espresso martini and I had a cappuccino. My friend had pancakes meal with eggs and sourdough. The pancakes looked amazing . They were the fluffiest pancakes I've ever seen. His food was amazing. I had a the power breakfast with chicken, black beans, egg whites, cottage cheese, and brown rice. I added some avocado. The meal held me over for the remainder of the day. They had so many things on the menu I wanted to try including their desserts. Definitely a place I would return to.
Very nice on first impression! Greeted and seated in less than 2 minutes. This is a nice breakfast/brunch spot for two. The seating inside is really tight yet it still didn't feel overcrowded or too noisy. There were some good selections on the menu but I decided on the French toast with a side of scrambled eggs. The French toast was amazing! Good enough that I'll likely go back before leaving Amsterdam. There were a few different servers in rotation and they checked in often. There were no delays in service at all. I did have an espresso martini which paired very well with my meal.
Really solid brunch place in a convenient part of town. Portions were generous, but nothing felt too heavy; every component of our dishes felt fresh and healthful. I'm not vegetarian but the veggie brekkie sounded delicious, and it was! Staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was both calm but energizing; it was a great way to start the day.
Amsterdam, May 2023, early lunch for 2. Cute, little place near museums part of the city. Very popular, dont take reservations. There is an online waiting list you can add your name on and wait outside to be called in. We waited 40 min. Very friendly service. Food is ok. I got salmon with eggs Benedict on a gluten free toast. Toast slices were very thick, with very modest, almost unnoticeable layer of butter and very thin salmon, paired with very little sauce on the eggs, made the sandwich very very dry, unbalanced in taste and not enjoyable. My partner had bbq pork bowl with a total opposite - pork meat was lost in the sea of way too sweet sauce. Overall, i don't get it what the whole hope is about. Perhaps we ordered wrong dishes. Definitely was not worth the wait
Food: 5 The menu merges brazilian, kiwi, and dutch food for a super cozy brunch with a great balance of flavors. Service & Ambiance: 5 Everything from the service to the cozy music and seating left me wishing I could take this place home with me. I went on a holiday and seating was tight, but service was still exceptional.
Bakers & Roasters was so good, we went two days in a row! The portions are huge so my fiance and I shared a meal both times. For food, we had the Huevos Rancheros the first day (really good but more like a tostada) with the breakkie potatoes. We tried the Navajo Eggs the second day with sausage and their breakkie potatoes. This was our favorite meal. Everything was delicious and fresh. Their fresh sour cream is so good! For drinks, we tried their mimosas, margaritas, and White Russian. All were consistently good on both days. The White Russian was my favorite - they added caramel/toffee pieces on top which were so good! They get pretty busy, so arriving early is recommended. The service was fantastic - everyone was very friendly and the food/drinks all came out quickly. We sat on the patio both times to enjoy the nice weather. They were super dog-friendly, too! We will definitely be back! Meals, drinks, and the outside patio area are pictured below.
Stunning food - that's all that needs to be said. Outside of the complicated waitlist system (refreshing in the hopes the waitlist opens so that you can quickly type in your name), the rest is absolutely wonderful. I had the Eggs Royale and Pancakes and they were both so good. The smoked salmon is so flavorful.

Do you love brunch? Amsterdam? If so I have the perfect spot. The drinks here are light as they don't pour as heavy as they do in the states. However the food and the servers (well most of them, one lady was a real pill) are fabulous. Our main server...Joe (I think was his name) was a not only a cutie but so sweet and nice with our semi large party of 6 that became 8. The drinks while good won't get you drunk so best to stick to mimosa's where you have control of your own pour. Now the #food is #omg #nomnom #yummy in your tummy good. I had a breakfast torta with chorizo...it was the kind of good where I was FULL yet stopped and tried to eat more as I did not want to leave any deliciousness on my plate. Welp, that didn't happen and I had more than 1/4 left over but I put up a good fight. There will be a wait but prepare for it, order a drink and just wait. You will be so glad you did. read more

Located near the Heineken experience, Bakers and Roasters is a good place to grab some breakfast/brunch food. The pulled pork here was quite frankly, amazing. Mix in that perfectly poached egg with a piece of avocado and it becomes pretty dam good. It was quite unexpected for us to find delicious pulled pork way out here in Amsterdam. The other thing we ordered were the short stack pancakes, and while good, was less memorable. 4 stars. read more

I Love the place!! Amazing environment in the heart of De Pijp. Most expat go there! Price is high but quality is really good! Portions can be bigger, but I think one meal is good for a powerful Brunch! I said Brunch because most of the menu is about brunch. Fresh food and good quality is the key for this successful place. On weekends you must wait in a line to get a spot in the place. But service is fast and really gentle!! Fresh juices and great milkshakes makes your brunch experience even better!! I super recommend to go and try several options. Mix of cultures in one meal bring a great taste to your Saturday or Sunday mornings!! :-) read more
I LOVE BREAKFAST!!!! Or at least when it's done right, none of that Dutch "boterham" nonsense. Originally being from the UK, I'm used to breakfast being an actual meal or at least delicious, nostalgic cereals. So for years already I've barely eaten breakfast as there's usually nothing really delicious here in the Netherlands. That being said, whenever something can be categorised as a brunch item, I can eat it any time of day (or night!). Seriously, wake me up if poached eggs are involved, especially if it's eggs Florentine! Which is obviously what I ordered here at Bakers&Roasters. I love a good Florentine and while this one definitely was a good one, it wasn't perfect. Both Thamar's Navajo eggs and my eggs Florentine had THE most fatal flaw any poached egg can have: overcooked yolks! Tears almost flowed as our yolks did not. However, the yolks were semi-done (think of a medium steak but then as a yolk) and the overall dishes were just delicious so we didn't bother asking for new eggs. What is a bit stupid of us though, is that we also forgot to mention it after we finished eating. Ooops! Anyway, next time I expect perfectly poached eggs. Deliver that Bakers&Roasters and I will deliver you that fifth star that I know you can deserve! read more

So happy and stuffed leaving Bakers and Roasters this morning. Started things off right with a delicious peppermint hot chocolate and fresh squeezed orange juice. Then had the smoked salmon eggs benny on hash cakes which looked like a beautiful bird's nest of sorts. Rooibos tea while sharing slices of the banana chocolate peanut butter cake and carrot cake. Both were beautiful and the frostings were to die for. $48 for 2, including desserts and drinks. Service was wonderful. Highly recommend! It does get very busy. I suggest arriving between 8:30-9:30am to avoid a wait for a table. read more

Stopped in for brunch on a rainy Saturday. Great looking breakfast cafe with a New Zealand themed menu. We tried the Veg Brekkie, Navajo Eggs, an iced latte, the cappuccino, and an L & P. I decided to give Bakers & Roasters a try as I was walking by on my way to do some errands. I had heard and read good things, was a bit hungry and popped in. It was a bit crowded as it was just in time for brunch. However, since I was alone, I was seated pretty quickly. After I was seated I realized that I needed to order at the counter, so that was a bit of a surprise, but if enough of us write about it, the awkward, "How come no one is talking to me" issue can be avoided. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. For as busy as the place can get, they do seem to get the orders out quickly. I had some coffee and the Salmon Eggs Benedict. It was all tasty and looking at all the other delights by the register made me want to head back when I was more hungry. It is also good to note that a lot of the tables are shared by other diners, so there is an opportunity to meet and talk to new people, if you & they are up for a conversation. The atmosphere is really laid back, bright and cheery. I am a fan and I'll be back for sure! read more

When looking for a brunch place this popped up, and with so many reviews, it's no wonder! There's quite a bit of seating inside and a few tables outside as well, but you'll want to let them know you are there. The sign was up that said "please wait to be seated", so we did and were seated once we went to the cashier to say we wanted a table. I wish I could have eaten more today, but it just wasn't going to happen. So, I got the short stack of American pancakes. There were blueberries inside and some on the plate, with bananas sliced on top with a good portion of maple syrup drizzled all around. So good. So so good. I also got an orange juice which is freshly made (you should ALWAYS find fresh orange juice in this city!), and a chai latte. This was really the only disappointment of the morning. It was mostly milk foam...not much tea. I've never had that happen before. Unfortunately, it just wasn't good. My friend had the green tea latte and had the same issue. Service was fine. Nothing over-the-top. They seemed to smile and get along with each other very well and seemed to be having a good day. Prices were a little on the high side for what it is, but it's popular and near the Heineken Experience, so maybe that explains it? Also, as of May 2015 WiFi password is milkshake! read more

They served the best brunch I've had in Amsterdam so far! It's a nice atmosphere with a few Brazilian decor pieces scattered around. Very warm, friendly and relaxed place. Staff are very polite and attentive and I was lucky to only have about a five minute wait for a table on my first visit. I ordered an Eggs Benny with a side of Breakfast Potatoes and a Mimosa. The Mimosa came with a small bottle of champagne and some freshly squeezed orange juice so it could be made just to your liking! (Loved that!) Eggs Benny were very good, just the right sized portion, hollandaise sauce was delicious and bacon was crispy. Great brunch! If I had to nitpick, one of my poached eggs was over done and the crust of the bread was a bit hard to cut through or bite down on so I had to use my hands. Not a big deal to me. The Breakfast Potatoes were just okay though. Don't get me wrong, they were cooked perfectly with a great rosemary flavor but I wish they had a bit more seasoning. Overall, great place. I'm a fan! Love that pups are allowed too! I would definitely return. read more

Excellent brunch place! We went there around 11 and only had to wait 10minutes or so, but some people after us had to wait up to half an hour, so try to arrive a bit early! Service was on point, helpful and nice. We had eggs Benedict & shared some pancakes. Both were absolutely delicious ! If I have to be extra picky, I'd say there was a tad too much sugar on the pancakes, otherwise it was amazing ! The bread was good, the eggs huge and runny, and we got plenty of bacon. The coffee was good. My only regret is that they don't have any menus, a -fresh drink - hot drink - meal- formula would be a good addition. The place was very nice too, cosy and with lots of cakes and fresh fruits everywhere. read more
Loved everything about this place. We didn't have to wait long for a table and the staff was super friendly. I got the Bloody Mary and while it didn't live up to a true American Bloody Mary, it was delicious and spicy. As for the food, I went with the Vege Brekkie which was delicious. Every ingredient was super fresh and the flavors were great. I would definitely recommend this as a stop for breakfast while in Amsterdam. Especially if you're an American and looking for a non-traditional European breakfast. Yum! read more

This place has a great vibe but always so busy! I only go on weekdays now. The dessert bar looks absolutely bananas but I never get to it because I'm too stuffed. The portions are large. My recommendations: -Huevos rancheros - the best thing possible -Superfoods salad - not as scary as it sounds. Was delicious; I'm gonna make this at home asap. -Cappuccinos -Chilli hot chocolate: just a hint of chilli, not really spicy -Beetrootapplecarrot juice I've had the smoked salmon and French toast but they didn't stand out enough to put them on the list... read more

Great brunch place. Super cute atmosphere. Got the Eggs Benny (wish I had taken a picture) but it was one of the best Eggs Benedict I've ever had. The bread they use is out of this world. I would definitely eat here again! Would love to try their boozy milkshakes! read more
We chose to eat here after visiting the Van Gogh museum. The brunch was very good, I would highly recommend the Huevos Rancheros. Ingredients were well paired and as a whole the meal was fantastic. The Bloody Mary was good but nothing special. The coffee was not good, and the cakes were very good! One of my favorite meals in Amsterdam. read more

This is a relative new addition to the brunch scene in Amsterdam. Owned by Brazilian & Kiwi, this place is very popular among a expats and normally you will have to wait to get a table, specially over the weekend. Their offer a great range of breakfast/brunch options. I normally have the kiwi classic or the huevos rancheros with chorizo. Service could be a bit slow and chaotic but overall it's a good option to have brunch in the pijp. read more

Wow, best place I've eaten in Amsterdam. Affordable prices, friendly staff, and most importantly amazing food. The orange juice was fresh squeezed after I ordered it and tasted better than any other orange juice I have ever had. EVER! The Banana Nut French Toast was not too sweet and the bacon on top added a saltiness to the dish that was already perfect. I will be eating breakfast here every day for the rest of the time I'm in Amsterdam. read more

The place is trendy but when our orders came my wife's dish tasted off and she returned it. Hard to say if it just tasted bad or there was something wrong with it. Anyway they still charged us, really???? Also notice the attached photo of the spoon accompanying our tea, it is covered with rust. The person serving us said it was an antique??? Really sucks to have a bad experience at a place that supposedly got good reviews. It's the first time we find a review that does not match up with the actual place. Many better options close by. read more

Fantastic place for brunch! Was here with a group of friends yesterday and the service and food was spot on! Fantastic choices of cocktails and food for a tasty brunch. Ingredients really fresh and the atmosphere was great- really buzzy. Would definitely go back and completely would recommend seeking this place out for a great brunch in Amsterdam!! read more

Was told that this is THE place to go for breakfast in Amsterdam. Fortunately we were staying in de pijp, however, we still had to wait 40 minutes. It was refreshing to have huevos rancheros in a place where you cannot find mexican food or black beans anywhere although it was not the best breakfast I have ever had. Little chaotic as they are cycling people through the restaurant very quickly. read more

I loved this place - I'm obsessed with breakfast and they do it right here. It's super cute and busy and diner-y with a nice little garden area in the back. My mom had French toast and I had some plate that had sausage and bacon and avocado and eggs and toast and tomatoes and mushrooms and pretty much everything you could want. Everything was amazing. Also Amsterdam is pretty much my happy place so I just can't say enough good things here. read more
Love this place! In Amsterdam for 3 nights & 2 out of 3 breakfasts were here. (Would've been all 3 if we didn't have to queue early for Anne Franks House!) Located on a side street just a few minutes walk from one of the tram stops. Indoor & outdoor seating available to choose from depending on the weather on this mostly pedestrianised street. The premises offers breakfast & brunch with a huge variety of options from standard breakfasts to French toast & pancakes, fruit bowls & a list of teas & coffees. The food is amazing, some odd combinations but the chefs know what they're doing. The staff are friendly & helpful. Amazing looking cakes & cookies for brunch or takeaway. read more
Everything about this place is yum!!! I highly recommend this place for brunch if you are in the area. The espresso is perfect, the service is great and the food tastes amazing. My only minus if a star is that it just felt a bit touristy, it seemed almost Americanized. read more
