I had my birthday breakfast here when I was looking for something close to the hotel that was not touristy- and this was it! The food was all DELICIOUS and looked and smelled great. I had the muesli which had so many fun, exotic fruits and flavors. It was the most beautiful breakfast I ever had. All the baked goods were so tempting. The only downside was service was just meh (as it was for most of Amsterdam). They seemed to care more about the way the tables were set then the actual customers. read more

A fusion of both tastes creates amazing breakfast options; taking things NZ traditional (like the Kiwi Brekkie) or a combo of the two with the Navajo Eggs Brekkie: Pulled bbq pork, avocado, mango salsa, & chipotle cream served with two poached eggs & hot buttered toast (add chorizo like I did). This place is consistently good. I've eaten here a lot! The eggs bennie are terrific, as is everything on the menu. Great baked goods, the coffee, green juice and mimosas are superb. The service is excellent and the staff is friendly and accommodating. I do miss the chicken pies they used to do when they first opened, not sure why they stopped making them, since it was touted as their signature Kiwi offering. Be prepared to wait 45 minutes for a table. The seating is a bit cramped, you'll be rubbing elbows with the party seated at the tables next to you, but the food makes up for those drawbacks. I had this recommended it me and wish I'd come soon! The flat white was perfect, they did creamy mushrooms and l&p on the menu - this is a proper kiwi breakfast place! Dave had the eggs benedict, I had the pulled pork with mango salsa and poached eggs which was amazing! It was so good you just have to try it to find out. Service was very friendly too. i had been reading reviews on this place for a few months now and i had it bookmarked because i love BRUNCH! what i didn't know or realize is that's it's near my home! i had also read in the yelp reviews that they have a mean coffee. two things i love having during the first part of the day.. brunch and coffee! we walked in and all the staff was super friendly and welcoming. it seemed like everyone spoke english with either a british or aussie/kiwi accent aka a sign they do brunch the way i like it! we decided to get two different brunch items and share it. peter got the huevos rancheros and i got, oh dear, forgot the name but the one with two organic eggs anyway you like it, bacon and american style pancakes with maple syrup. i had seen a photo of the huevos and i remember it came with a hard tortilla which kind of disappointed me because i like it the classic way, a soft tortilla. when it arrived and i took a bite of peter's. i was very impressed. first off the black beans are really really good! i don't know how they season it but it was so perfectly cooked and seasoned. i could have had a whole bowl of them. AND... mind you black beans are not my fav type of beans but these were amazing. the hard tortilla was also very good. i didn't mind at all that it was hard. it was a nice balance with all the mushy yumminess on top of it! i was sold on the huevos rancheros. the eggs and bacon on my dish were tasty, straight forward not hard to mess up and they certainly didnt. however, i thought the pancakes were slightly dry :( it should have came with butter too. if they're gonna claim it as american pancakes it has to come with butter... just sayin. the coffee which i think we had the long strong was very good and definitely kicked me into high gear. one cup was just perfect and i'm usually a two cup of coffee drinker. i also kept eyeing our neighbors pot pie. i think next time i'll have to give those a try. they also have a very good looking dessert counter. we were too full so had to pass on that. i also noticed they are serving a special holiday dinner menu for two days prior to xmas day. it looked really good and the price was respectable for a 3 or 4 course meal. under 30 euros. i'm so happy this place exists and even happier that i can easily walk to it too! read more

Oh wow, this place makes me even more excited about living in Amsterdam than I usually am - and that's saying a lot as I LOVE living in Amsterdam :) Why? Well finally there is a brunch venue that matches up to (I could even say that it surpasses) those in Australia, NZ and England (well London). The lunch is probably fantastic too, but I haven't sampled that yet. So, the coffee is as good as any of other great coffee places in the city (think Two For Joy, Headfirst, Lot Sixty One etc - though note it's more consistent than Two For Joy which can be hit and miss these days, especially Frederiksplein) and the brunch food....well it's totally amazing...abundant, beautifully presented, tastes scrumptious and the menu is diverse, unique and impressive. Furthermore, the venue is simply gorgeous. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought and money into the fit-out - I especially love the kiwi touches and the pastel colour scheme. Mooi! And the staff were in great supply and ever so welcoming and helpful. As much as I want to keep this place on the downlow so that I don't have to line up for a table on weekends, they deserve great word of mouth because Bakers & Roasters rocks my Amsterdam world! We're so sad we discovered this place on the last day of our trip! One of the only brunch places in Amsterdam that serves fairly healthy food with a fun, tropical twist. My favorite place in Amsterdam for a full-blown brunch. Their eggs are always done to perfection. Coffee and prices are decent for Amsterdam. Staff tends to be a bit confused but friendly. The only disappointment I had was in ordering the granola - basically a bowl of sugary yuck topped with a spoonful of yogurt. This is a wonderful place. The food is outstanding and the people working there are the friendliest and nicest people you can imagine. I didn't have time for breakfast and sat outside with a latte. While I was there, two different people showed up bringing in fresh produce, bread, and eggs - a lot of it. I went back for brunch /lunch. It was a 30 minute wait but they are on that service that txts you when the table is ready. Walking around I noticed there are a lot of restaurants in the area and all that I saw had open tables. Says something. I had their special breakfast, eggs on toasted bread, bacon and a mini-stack of pancakes. It was delicious. And another latte of course I asked a manager I'd met earlier about the food deliveries. They come every morning. Those bags and bags? Bread. How many eggs each day? Something like 20 flats with 36 eggs each. Wow. I almost forgot. I didn't have any, but they have a full array of cakes, pastries, banana breads, etc. they looked good. I have been here three or four times now. I thoroughly enjoy it as my Saturday morning breakfast. I had the Navajo eggs twice, and the baked banana bread French toast once.
