For some reason we were (embarrassingly) incorrectly imagining typical lunchroom type food, but what we got was like something out of a five-star restaurant. (One guest even said, "The green beans were, like, REAL!") David, the Executive Chef, is extraordinary, both as chef and as a person. Neither my husband nor I are the best at making decisions so we explained to David what type of food we were looking for and he created 3-4 options in every category for us to choose from. We had a private tasting (fancy!) and I can honestly say they were ALL some of the best dishes I've ever had. (If you ever get the chance to have his "wedding potatoes," DO IT. I will forever be depressed that I cannot order them at a restaurant.) In addition to David's jaw-dropping skill, Susan, the Catering Coordinator, was incredible in helping us organize our options and in easing our anxieties. There's no way to justifiably explain how grateful we were to have her in our "wedding lives," but just know that she is the EXACT type of person you want in charge of something so important. Not only did she go above and beyond without us even asking, she was also fun and genuinely supportive. To round everything out, we were also impressed and very appreciative with the professionalism and kindness of the student staff during the day of our event. (As this usually always matters, it is important to note that their prices more than fair. We had TONS of extras, including coffee, hot chocolate, cider, pre and post meal snacks, and the total cost (including linen and everything) still averaged what a restaurant might charge for just a plated meal.) If you ever use Aramark to cater your event, please invite me. I want to eat more of this food.

We sat ourselves and the server behind the bar came around, greeted us and took our drink orders. My husband asked if he could order a Walleye filet and they accommodated; he got mashed potatoes and salad for his sides. I ordered The Mayor salad (truly enough food for two) The Walleye was cooked perfectly, and it was delicious. My husband asked for them to heat up the potatoes, unfortunately they were luke warm at best. My salad was a large salad topped with brisket, smoked turkey, bacon and a chicken wing. My husband and I split the chicken wing, it was crispy, but almost too crispy. In the fryer a bit too long. The brisket was a bit dry, but the smoked turkey was perfect. There were two hard boiled eggs, so if you are eating just protein and vegetables this is is your order. There were a lot of jalapenos on it, and lots of crisp greens. I would order it again, but most likely split it with someone. The service was great. While we were there it was getting crowded. This was the second restaurant that we went to where there was only one person taking orders. Fortunately, she had someone running the food out because she was also tending bar, along with the food runner. Although we were not neglected, it would have been better for them if there were more on staff. We'll definitely be back on our next visit.

Most of my guests commented on how unique the idea of a hog roast was and how tender and flavorful the pork was. It was a pleasure to work with Shannon.
