I had a really good experience at Bakersfield Car Audio and Stereo. So first off, they schedule by appointment only and actually service you ON TIME, huge plus. They have a little waiting room, which was clean and comfortable, with a TV and a little heater/fireplace for the winter. I came in to have an alarm installed with sensors. I've been here years before with my old car and they did great work then too, so I felt confident coming back. The alarms they use are high quality and work very well. The installation itself was very professionally done, and the alarm works exactly as I wanted, it's very sensitive and reliable, which gives me great Peace of Mind, especially with all the break ins that have been happening in the neighborhood recently. The guy who worked on our car was friendly and the receptionist was friendly as well. They did have to special order a part because the tilt sensor module didn't fit our car, so we had to wait an extra 1-2 weeks. Once the part came in, he installed it very quickly. Their prices are very fair, we called a couple of other shops and they were definitely more expensive compared to Bakersfield car and audio. Quality work from installers and techs . Overall experience? Less than favorable. First thing to mention is , was promised a proper line output converter in vehicle that works with factory plug ins which was never installed ( Wires were just tapped ) ( as they stated we could not do first day ?!? ) . Secondly held the car for a WHOLE DAY with no work done just be told they did not have said Line out converter at the end of the day . When I did drop car off a whole week later (only availablity they had) it was installed nice and neat . Pricing in general would not consider great never got a detailed invoice or price breakdown , from my own calculations and the said expenses for labor still doesn't add up especially noting that these calculations were made with retail prices ?shopped my exact installed items with labor and was cheaper everywhere else I asked ??. The line output converter they did install went bad after a month of having it ( not on them mainly the manufacturer i guess) (want to reiterate this was supposed to be the second item in the whole installation but they did not install proper LOC to factory plugins as promised) . Reached out and was informed they could swap it out, when I let them know I lowered gains on both the LOC and AMP they informed me that my warranty could be voided after doing so ?!?!? Didn't care about getting it replaced in fact I never went back because I did not want to deal with whether or not I had voided warranty by LOWERING GAINS .In general great for anyone who has little to NO EXPERIENCE in car audio . If you have any inkling please consider looking to do it yourself with proper research or an experienced professional. Installers and techs great guys , great work . Front desk people could use some warmth , very cold and dry when dealing with customers not only with me but with others in line as well . read more

I purchased a Pioneer radio and had it installed at this business. 2 years later, it stopped working. They told me it was a "bad year" for that model. They sold me a new one, and since it had a 2 year warranty, and has been "upgraded" I would be happy with it. 3 months later, it quit working. I moved out of state, and they said I now need to remove it, send it to them so they an diagnose it. I asked if they were going to reimburse me for the cost. NOPE. BEWARE of this dealer. They installed a front and rear dash cam system in an Audi which is no easy task considering the smallness of the cabin. All cables were expertly hidden and the interior trim showed absolutely no evidence of being disturbed. The system worked perfectly......and the installer even took the time to patiently explain the operation of the system, and the app, to the owner. He gave me a quote to fix my old 2010 Mazda, which I thought was low, because I had taken my car to the local dealership and they were 4x the cost! I'm not exaggerating! I bought my part (an amp) from EBay for about $200+. Labor was $80.00. The dealership estimated repair to be $1500!!!! Additionally, Johnny synced my phone with my car Bluetooth. I would normally give this review higher stars because I liked their knowledge and friendliness. However, when I mentioned to them how their Saturday installer ripped a gash in my dashboard where the stereo was installed they denied it and treated me like I was lying about it and did the damage myself. What they don't realize is this is an expensive car that I treat with the uptmost love and respect and when I take it somewhere to have something done with it I expect the same treatment. I have thought about going to them again when I want upgrades done in the future, but now not so sure. If they cant be honest and own up to what happened and cant offer to pay for the damage they did, then I am not sure if I can trust them do to any more upgrades on my stereo in my car in the future. I understand that accidents happen. But atleast own up to it and offer to fix it when they do instead of acting shady and denying that it happend. My husband and I have had to try to clue these plastic parts back in that the installer tried do hide by just sticking the broken pieces back into the dash hoping we wouldn't notice but we did. Not sure how we are going to get it fixed or how much it is going to cost.. but any reputable and honest company would pay for the damage they caused. When someone brings a car in to you to have you do a stereo install treat it with better care than you did mine. Or you should be liable for the damages that you cause. read more

I gave these guys carte blanche to sell me speakers on top of the installation of a brand new car stereo and a new, but year-old dashcam my wife had purchased for my birthday the year before. The price to install stereo and dashcam,$375.00. I get a call from Ryan who informs me that he wasn't going to sell me something I don't need. I'm also informed that they cannot get the dashcam to come on. I'm very disappointed but now discouraged that I will have to pay for the dashcam installation anyway. The not working dashcam is not on them. I go down to retrieve my truck and Johnny the sales mgr. informs me that they felt bad for me and are not going to charge me for the dashcam installation. They had me and I was prepared to pay them $375.00. Instead, I tipped them $50.00 and told them how impressed I was with their honesty. Ryan said he knows how hard people work for their money and he has a conscience. Lucky for me. I will bring any work in regards to my needs and their skills without hesitation.
