I am so pleased with the level of service provided by Chris at iKarz Speedometers & Automotive. He went so far above and beyond what I'm used to, that I felt like I'd stepped back into the 1950s, when small businesses truly understood what "service" meant. I have a 1990 Toyota truck that I use every day for work. On this truck, the speedometer sends a signal to the computer, which tells the transmission when to shift. When the circuit in the speedometer failed, the transmission started shifting very erratically, and the truck became undriveable. I couldn't find anyone who was willing to work on a 35-year-old speedometer. Out of desperation, I gave the details to ChatGPT and asked for a recommendation. It pointed me to iKarz Speedometers & Automotive in Bakersfield, CA. I called and spoke with Chris, who told me they had all the necessary equipment to troubleshoot the unit down to the component level, repair it, and then test it to ensure everything met factory specifications. I also asked him about replacing the burned out Hi-Beam and Over-Drive and indicator lamps while they had it, and he suggested that he could replace all the original dash illumination lamps and indicator lamps with new, brighter, longer-lasting German-made bulbs. I overnighted the instrument cluster to him via UPS. He came in when they were closed on the Friday after Thanksgiving to receive it. They started work on it first thing Monday morning, and had it repaired, tested and shipped via UPS Next Day Air on Wednesday. My truck is all back together now and it is shifting flawlessly. Had a problematic odometer in a 1996 Ford Ranger. It is famous for going out early in these vehicles due to failure of plastic parts. It was fixed but then showed some problems. Brought our Volvo here for instrument cluster repair. They did a great job at about one third the cost that the Volvo repair service quoted us.
