A sense of soft elegance came over the room. Pat was there for every step, every detail right down to the food. Every guest commented on how wonderful the food was. The appetizers could have been your meal. The entries were beyond delicious, creamy, flavorful and tender. A big shout out to the wait staff Ashley and Dawn who were on their A game. What was particularly troubling was watching the difference between how we were treated and how other customers were treated. Based on our experience and those interactions, my wife and I both felt that we were being treated differently because of our race. I don't make that accusation lightly, but the disparity in service was noticeable enough that we both left with the same impression. It's unfortunate because the location and atmosphere have a lot going for them. We came there expecting to have an enjoyable evening together, not to feel unwelcome or as though we had to repeatedly work to get the bartender to serve us. There are former classrooms that are being used for dance classes, yoga classes, etc. During the summer of 2017, they have a fine art show throughout the building (all 3 levels) titled "This Great Earth". Doubtful. One of the "clean" towels set out in our room was very wet, as if it had been used just prior to our arrival. The bed had one of the most uncomfortable mattresses I have ever slept on in my life. The staff attending to the continental breakfast were setting out an assortment of bagels, toast, English muffins with their bare hands (which I regrettably noticed after having already eaten). The second star is ONLY because of the location, which admittedly is difficult to beat. The hospitality leaves much to be desired.
