A great night out in a casual atmosphere for a shore bar. We have been here many times and I have to say all the servers are great. Almost every night there is entertainment which is the draw for us. Big selection of brews on tap as well as bottles. Really good wings and if you like a barbecue sauce their Dr. Pepper is a sweet version. Nachos is a good share. A little disappointed that they changed their pirogies to just a potato/cheese served with onions and sour cream, they used to have 3diffent versions which you can add kielbasa to. Still good though. Sydney was our server and she was completely either out of it overwhelmed didn't know what she was doing walks over and another person at the table and says how was it I looked up at her and I said it never came. Do you see a plate here that was after a half an hour waiting for the food that was after she said the food was coming right out never came back. Never apologize completely disappeared. They have the audacity to charge a automatic dining gratuity if you're sitting with six people, even if you ask for your own bill. Waiting for the bill also and then she puts it down and doesn't give an apology. And the other person at my table got pierogies and she said they were not edible. read more

BELMAR: Jacks By The Tracks is a great spot in downtown Belmar and leashed dogs are allowed at their outdoor patio. The patio is covered on top and can be covered on the sides to stay open during chillier weather. There is a lot of seating and TV's to watch the game. We love that the garage doors open up, so you feel like you are part of the main restaurant. This is great for listening to live music, which is featured almost every night. We enjoyed a couple of drinks at this neighborhood restaurant and they had at least 6 local breweries on tap and a bunch more selections in bottles and cans. There is also wine, cocktails, and a full bar. An American food menu features salads, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, steaks, and more. Next time we visit, we are trying their soft pretzel. Happy Hour is Monday-Friday 11:30am-4:00pm. $3 domestic drafts, $5 house wines, $5 well drinks, and buy 1 get 1 half off appetizers. Dang Jacks. I love to leave amazing reviews for local businesses, especially none chain businesses, as I work for one myself. I came in today for the first time after a long grueling work day, & my bartender greeted me instantly. Made me a delicious dirty martini - the right way, most places you go to you can still see through your martini glass. People who order dirty martinis love olives. So up the juice! And he did. My unfortunately sad review comes from my experience with my to go food. I ordered the drunk clams, love me some lemon butter garlic sauce for clams - and I saw on your menu you put beer into it. Honestly, they sucked. Large clams is a bonus, but not when they haven't been cleaned. I went for 4 or 5 clams before I gave up, every bite was gritty sandpaper in between my teeth. They have not been cleaned properly, and it's Belmar, so I'm hoping you get them locally. Too much sand where it shouldn't be. And the broth was so abundant, it leaked through my to go bag and got all over my passenger seat. Leave the beer out, replace it with white wine for the broth I beg of you. The beer taste was meh. We had a great time at Jack's by the Tracks! We tried the pierogies, wings, pretzel, and shrimp cocktail--everything was delicious. The atmosphere was laid-back and fun. However, there was a bit of confusion when we were offered (unsolicited) 10 wings for $10 after placing an order of 6 wings for $15, the offer of 10 for $10 was later rescinded when food was brought out and set onto the table because the game wasn't on, which was disappointing and in poor taste especially since we never asked about any specials!!! Despite that, the food and service was otherwise solid, and I would consider maybe going back (probably not) two stars were lost for the whole wing debacle... it sort of ruined an otherwise great experiance, makes no sense really... read more

First time here. Figured we Check out the live music and catch a bite. Place was jumping. Got seated quickly outside. Service was decent for a busy scene. Ordered wings and "mile high" pastrami sandwich. Asked for wings crispy, which did not come that way. Ordered a mix is buffalo and mango habanero. Both tasted good but weren't cooked as well as we asked. Mile high pastrami was seemingly mile high. But the taste wasn't. Tasted like alcohol sprayed and then warmed up in a grill. Kinda nasty. Didn't finish it. Told waitress we didn't care for it but neither did she care what we thought lol. Would've been better just to serve it boiled not pan grilled. Or the pastrami was just overall bad. Disappointing. Music was good though. Not sure If we'd come back for food too soon. read more

We arrived and got seated the waitress was very nice, seating was great sat outdoors and there was a live band, they played so loud it was difficult to hear my partner speak, we only ordered entrees and we waited 40 minutes for our foods to arrive , we were starving and ready to leave. The fish was ok (not worth the 40 min wait), nothing out of this world but I have to say the hero of the plate was the honey ginger carrots! First time visiting here as we celebrated a long time friends' birthday. Our table of 10 were all over the board as to ordering and I didn't have the luxury of asking their thoughts on their dish. My wife and I ordered one of the specials, a broiled grouper florentine with cherry tomatoes in a butter sauce. Done just right, with an ample side of asparagus and an even larger dollop of mashed potatoes which came on a separate plate!!!! This was executed beautifully, and I have no doubt that it was the right choice. Fwiw, it's a bar, with outdoor seating, ....a real nice room on what was a beautiful night. The menu smacks of pub grub, but we were ecstatic as to our grouper dish. There is a limited entree menu and I have no doubt that the kitchen stars on any of which is on the menu or their special menu for the evening. We were there to catch the birthday girls' cousin who plays there each first and last Wednesday. Frank with his Gibson is an amazing musician who along with Tommy on saxs (soprano, tenor & baritone, along with flute) with Jerry on the congas just tore through a musical itinerary that had them covering George Benson, Carlos, War, to changing gears and doing Neil, and Dylan. They were great and not to be missed. There's so much music to be had down here, be it AP, Bradley, etc. Not many had music as what went down last night at Jacks. There were also more than a few people who were there for Frank and Tommy. Very cool place. Waitresses rock and make sure you're taken care of. read more

This place is really great. We went on the weekend and food was really terrific. I had the blackened pork chop and it was amazing. Jack's Tavern has been around since early 1930's. Steaks, seafood, schnitzel, and sauerbraten are big hits here. The decor is cody with dark wood trim a d big fireplace. Cindy was wonderful! My fellow guest enjoyed a Manhattan alcoholic beverage, while I had water (doctor orders). We ate delicious, fresh oysters on the half shell with fresh lemon wedges and cocktail sauce. We each had a cup of clam soup--hers was creamy clam bisque and mine Manhattan clam chowder, both teaming with clams. Our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. We were full! Cindy told us about Sunday brunch from 11 am to 3 pm. For $6.95, you get a cocktail and a big breakfast meal such as French toast, eggs Benedict, omelette. Sounds good to me! read more

Awful bartender. She obviously had no experience with people & obviously didn't want to be there. They either were desperate for a bartender or just bad training. Mediocre, not bad but certainly not great. Jack's has 3 options: popular bar on the right side, quieter dining room on the left, and a few tables outside (on 10th near Main). We ate there last evening about 530 to 630. Had a booth. Service, by Cindy, was good. No appetizers. They bring out warm bread and dipping sauce (olive oil etc). Dinners come with salads and vegetable of the day (corn) and potato or rice. We had crab cakes, $19.95 and stuffed seafood combo $24.95. Dinners were good, but seemed to be more stuffing than seafood. Of course, this is a bar so you have to add drinks to your bill (unlike byob). We had not eaten at Jack's in a few years. It was OK, but certainly we won't hurry back. read more

Look, I get it. Staffing, and particularly good, reliable staffing, is hard to find these days. But this was a truly underwhelming experience. I work locally and was lucky enough to have an extended lunch break on this particular day, so I figured Jack's would be a good choice. Sat at the bar, and, granted only one bartender was staffed midday in this day, so he was running around, but to not be even acknowledged for a full 10+ minutes is absurd. There were periods of 10-15 minutes during which the side of the bar at which I sat went unmanned. Ordered food at 1:40pm (was ready to order at 1:15), and it's now 2:15, and no delivery. I'm putting this on management, as they are setting up their employees for failure. Jack's, get your "stuff" together, and quickly. I'll absolutely reconsider my lunchtime destination for the future. ***UPDATE: Returned at end of day to resolve lunchtime's issues. Greeted immediately by bar service, and, upon request, referred to management. All midday concerns resolved within 5 minutes, and even stayed for a few early evening cocktails. A much better experience in the evening. Still skeptical about lunchtime/day service, but management and staff are clearly available at night to make for an enjoyable experience. Upgraded to 4/5 stars as a result. read more

I went back twice for that dish since then, all good I just went in April and the portion was cut in HALF!!! One filet cut in two pieces. Price stayed the same. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Our waiter double charged us and promised he would fix the bill and he never did. The managers refused to handle the situation. We arrived at 8PM on a Tuesday night. Two adults, three children. As young as 5. We left at 9:45. A slow day. Four tables being served in the whole restaurant including ours. A chef salad with shrimp. An Italian hot dog. 3 kids meals Kids meals are 10 dollars and the mac and cheese and pasta don't come with fries. This is the SAME PRICE as the adult Italian hot dog - with fries. The kids' mac and cheese had bad cheese. We thought it might have been beer cheese or even curds. But a Google review said another group thought it was sour. I concur. Bad. Kids did not eat it. Wife's chef salad with shrimp was good. My Italian hot dog was basically a single hot dog on a regular hot dog roll with peppers and a few shredded potatoes. We live in NJ. We know that an Italian hot dog is not that. But tasty. If I knew it was one hot dog on a roll I would have ordered something else. Prices for adult meals were fair, even good. Prices for kids meals with the tiny portion size was absurd. And now, over time, they have had repeated complaints as to the quality of the mac and cheese. CANNOT serve bad mac and cheese to kids. At very least find a mild cheese that kids like. Kids waiting for meals for over an hour and a half is unforgivable. They were good, but by the end the 5 year old wanted to yell at them to "bring my food" Every other table that was there waited as long as we did. Two other tables seated at the same time were served at about the same time. Their biggest failure is management. The manager did not come to the tables to explain or apologise or take the bad food off the bill. A total failure. Our waitress who said she was Kate (Maybe because my granddaughter said that was her name, though) was as good as one can be when they work for a total failure of a restaurant. They got 2 stars from me because the adult food was all right and the waitress was doing what she could. Other reviews said they called and the manager promised to refund them - and did not - and had similar time and management problems. Any real restaurant, the manager would have been in the kitchen on the back of the cooks and would replace them if this happened over days. Did some family member go to cooking school and have to be kept? This place will close down if they keep the same kitchen, or turn into just a bar. Some firing needs to be done. 1) MANAGER 2) COOK (one or more) I honestly don't know if the place would run better without a manager altogether. Fun place for watching bands, bar has many choices, bartenders are good.. place is clean and seems to be more 45 or older. So a good choice if you aren't looking to party with the 20 year olds. Does get a little packed inside though as people dance all around. Has live music often. read more

We have been 3x this summer. We come on Wednesday night to hear Tommy LaBella on horns and Frankie on Guitar. They are great musicians and it is a wonderful night!!! As for the food it is typical, average pub food. If you don't go with high expectations you will probably not be disappointed. I went here for my birthday with my parents. It was not busy. Late afternoon early evening. The appetizer came out fast. Great! The dinner on the other hand, did not. It took a half hour to come. No urgency from the server. I had to get up & ask about the food. As soon as I did they brought it out. My Mom wasn't happy with the corn dog. She ate very little of it. By the time the server checked on us I was already done & my Mom's appetite was gone. It was ten minutes later when she checked on us. She probably would of ordered something else but again no urgency. The first thing they told us was the chicken for my wrap was still being cooked. Then server told us they lost the ticket. Which one is it??!! When I spoke to the manager she didn't want to do anything for us. Then again the manager was dressed in a white t-shirt & pajama bottoms. Obviously she does not take pride in what she does or how she presents herself. She told me that & I quote, "This is not McDonald's." At least twice she said this. Instead of taking a meal or a drink off she took off 10%. I had to pull teeth to get something done. If it was wall to wall people in there & the food went a half hour, I can turn a blind eye. I understand it isn't McDonald's but when you are not busy & waiting a half hour for food in an empty restaurant is unacceptable. Pajama pants told us that we were their for an hour and twenty minutes. We should of been done less then an hour. No excuse! I have served for awhile. All the managers I've worked with, never spoke to any of my tables like the way she spoke to us, with venom. My managers always took a meal or an alcoholic drink off the bill. Or even both!
