Decided to give this studio a chance as they claim to be the best in town for ballet and dance…read more Teachers are VERY young and green and were late to teach class a few times during the brief semester we were there. The Acro class is literally girls doing forward rolls, ridiculous! In addition, the studio director is extremely disorganized and lacks communication with parents. There are constant hidden fees for everything. For example: there is a registration fee every semester, not for the year as other studios do... mandatory leotards are to be ordered and worn to class, $30 each. They arrived when the season was OVER...4 months to receive them, unacceptable. Additionally, from the moment you open the downstairs door to enter the studio, the stench is overwhelming. The bathrooms are ALWAYS filthy, floors are clearly never cleaned or moped whether it be in the studio or waiting room. There are NO DOORKNOBS OR HANDLES to open the doors to the studio dance rooms, a child's hand is caught almost every single time I am there. Their excuse is the doors are old and they have not been able to find a doorknob that fits It's a miracle no one has shut this place down. There are tons of other dance schools for your child to go to, that follow the ABT curriculum, have experienced teachers that show up on time and a director who cares and takes pride in their facilities presentation and cleanliness and teachings. Do your research and take a tour in person before joining this sub par at best dance school. Very disappointing!

We dropped by 4 different studios and we knew PDC was for us! My 4-year-old daughter has been with PDC for 2 years and we absolutely love being a part of the PDC family! Classes are nurturing and positive, age-appropriate but certainly teaches the little ones to push themselves and do their best as little ballet and tap dancers! Owner, Paige L., and the toddler teacher, Ashley A., are absolutely amazing with the children! Each brings their excitement, their expertise, and their big hearts to the classes. Even the older dancers, who sometimes cross paths with the 2-4 year old class (or on the recital days) are so sweet and loving! They are like big sisters to the little dancers, taking them under their wing and making them feel like important parts of the PDC family. These girls have become extended family. All the parents look out for each other's daughters and support them with encouragement and love. There are workshops with special guest dancers and they have a winter performance for dancers who'd like to participate. The studio is an adorable boutique studio - small and quaint but perfect. For reference, I had two girls that went there for 4 years and were part of her competition team. We have paid tens of thousand of dollars to this school. When we questioned something, we were met with hostility and flippant responses that proved we were nothing more than dollar signs. I'm sad to have to write this as my girls liked their instructors (although there seems to be a revolving door other than maybe 1 or 2 of them) and made lots of friends. It was also convenient given the location but they will not get my business after what we have been experiencing. I'm sure that some people will disagree with my review which is their right. My daughter had such an amazing spring season performing in Shrek at the Irvington Theater with…read moreOpen Arts Alliance. Thrilled to have been cast, she couldn't wait to get started. From the first rehearsal she can home with such an enthusiasm for the music, plot, story and characters. The whole house lit up in the evening with the sounds of "I'm a Believer", "Story of My Life" and "I Think I Got You Beat" to name a few favorites. Every minute of every rehearsal was spent learning intricate choreography, staging, belting tunes and growing in skills. As a mom, my favorite part to hear about was the feedback she would receive in the rounding out meeting at the end of each rehearsal. She would often get feedback on what she was doing that made the production team proud or a share about how she was a role model, she would get positive feedback from other kids with accolades about what they wanted to celebrate of each other, she would give herself feedback publicly about motivating personal growth moments and she would receive feedback about what she could refine in a positive and supportive way to help her to grown into the best version of herself. This grounded her in confidence and helped her grown in both her vocal skills and acting skills. Not only did she shine on stage under the leadership of the most gifted and talented production staff, she also developed as an actress and singer with their guidance as well. Socially, the friendships she made have been lifelong and across age cohorts because that is the environment that has been created, one of acceptance, safety, celebration and belonging. Every time my child performs in another Open Arts Alliance production, I think I couldn't love the show more than the previous one, they could possibly top the last set design, the costumes and makeup and they couldn't replace the songs from the last production I have been singing and reminiscing about. Yet, every time I am in awe of how the talent and team continue to raise the bar with new technology, trickier choreography, well thought out casting and attention to intricate details. As an audience member, Shrek reminded me so much of the story and movie I had grown up loving. I found myself wanting to sing along, I felt all the emotions of the characters and I was transported to another time and place. This last season, and every season before, are the reasons we are so committed to the program. My child continues to thrive here and build a love of theater with every new production and we look forward to all the upcoming seasons that will encompass the brilliance of the power team!
