A big park with lots of things to do. Our main focus when visiting is the playground, it is a 3 level split playground with rope climbs, spinners, lots of slides, swings, more climbing equipment and a fun bus. All levels are easily accessible with a stroller. There are also bathrooms close by, nothing spectacular but they get the job done. I haven't needed to park for the playground but there is a side street nearby where I see spots open regularly. It is along the J muni line and down the road from Balboa Park Bart.

No reviews yet? Well, can't say I'm surprised... Balboa Park, along with the adjacent Balboa Park BART/Muni station and CCSF, forms a sort of hub within the OMI/Excelsior neighborhood. But there's surprisingly little commerce here; it's concentrated farther west on Ocean and over on Mission. The park looks sizable on the map, but the majority of it is taken up by a set of baseball/soccer fields that could probably accomodate 3 games simultaneously. Not sure where the demand for that comes from (maybe CCSF?). There's also tennis courts, a playground, and an indoor swimming pool. However, if you're simply looking for a place to take a stroll or a jog, don't bother as there's very little in the way of paths here. Neighborhood is working-class but perfectly safe (by daylight anyway). One good way to familiarize yourself with the park would be to grab an awesome sandwich from Roxie Market across the street and find a picnic table.

Though the weather in this part of the city can be pretty gruesome during the summer months, the park itself is great! And it makes you appreciate those sunny, windless days even more! This is a big park and has different "sections". There is the baseball field area, the kids playground area, the tennis courts, the basketball hoops, the field, and the indoor pool area. The entire park has recently been redone, which was really really needed. It was pretty shabby, and there were always mounds of trash and wood debris near the pool and basketball courts for some reason. There are now park benches and tables, new tennis courts, new hoops, and an updated playground. All that trash is gone, and the overgrown vegetation is now being maintained. Looks much better!

Parking wasn't hard to find. Lots & lots of grassy area for baseball or football http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=CAveDmi9tYg3Gbs9VVnm2Q&select=iam4g-cg6aywDwaqfRN1fw. We played baseball on the baseball diamond. I believe there's a couple of them. Across the street are 4 tennis courts, 6 old looking swings, & one new looking kid park http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=CAveDmi9tYg3Gbs9VVnm2Q&select=n4EHqLlBjd5HU7Ff2ZetIw. The tennis court here was empty, which is rare in the Sunset. Maybe residents in this area don't play...I wonder why this area is so empty. The old swings were empty too. The only area that had A LOT of people was the new kid park. I guess that area looked the best, it had bright colors, & lots of play structure to play on.

Balboa park is not really a park. It's like a baseball field with sprinklers and grass, surrounded by the police.

For the most part, its good tennis courts. It would be nice too if they have lighting for night games.

A neighborhood type of park. There is a new swing/play area for children. Plenty of street parking.

Ever since then, I've wanted to hike this peak, today I have achieved my wish. Early June with mild coastal temp, 50s-60s. Started up Matt Davis Trail in the foggy forest, to Pantoll Campground, to West Point Inn where we can look down to the top of the fog layer, to the Fire Lookout building at the Peak. Then we came down reverse but split off to Steep Ravine and Dip Sea trail after the campground. I've also always wanted to climb that ladder. This hike provided views of the Pacific ocean on the West as well as views of Richmond-San Rafael Bridge on the East side. I thoroughly enjoyed the cool lush forest, but actually my favorite section was the single track along the slope of the open area after the Mt Tam State Park sign.

My sister and I arrived before 8am at the Watershed parking lot and barely found a space. We did the trail that took us to the West Point Inn for the pancake breakfast and round trip was close to 5 miles so it was a great workout. There's gorgeous views and well! On the way back to the 101 however it's a mess. The road on the way down is crowded with parked cars, which makes driving through challenging. That's the only thing about this park, other than that I'd love to come back in spring when everything is green and vibrant!

Then I kept going! When I got to the conservatory of flowers, I turned around and went all the way back and down past rainbow falls, Lloyd lake, past Hellman hollow to Spreckle's lake, said hello to the Bison and took a left and exited just past chain of lakes. What an adventure! I saw red tail hawks, blue jays, blue herons, all kinds of ducks, two turtles and of course the Bison. There are some beautiful views, art exhibitions, interactive displays and tons of photo worthy spaces. There are these beautiful pianos set up throughout the park for the public to play which I enjoyed practicing on. So many of the local plants are blooming so the flowers and trees sing with life. I stuck to the pedestrian trails but there are so many options off the beaten path for both hike vibes and bike rides. The Dutch Windmill is located here and is a magnificent piece of equipment that was restored in the 1980s. There is a sign on the windmill that explains the history and it was originally built in the early 1900s and used to pump water. It was crowded mid-day on Sunday with many people taking pictures with the tulips and picnicking with blankets. It is important to drive slowly while in the park since many people walk in the street. Finding a place to park can be difficult depending on the day and the event. There are so many things to do here as this is a huge park. The Japanese tea garden, museum, and tulip garden are just a few of the places I've visited here.
