It's a great shop for snooping around for gift ideas of all sorts - not just cheese. Only giving it a 3 star rating for now, at least until my next visit. I seem to be going to Perth on a more regular basis these days. My reasoning is that although they call themselves a cheese shop, I don't remember much about their cheeses! They are offering a variety of other things as well, and cheese is not even the first thing you see when you walk in the door, although I do remember seeing one refrigerator of a variety of cheeses offered. This is a store, and not a restaurant, so there's no seating inside. Everywhere you look, you see eye candy! It would be a great place to find a gift for that special someone in your life. There's plenty of parking outside and near the shop, and it's down town and close to other amenities, like the Perth Museum. I'll take another look during a future visit to Perth, just to get a better glimpse and possibly a taste of their cheese :-)

At the hotel, they sampled Manchebello, their Manchego-style sheep's cheese, and their 3 signature cow's cheeses, i.e., their blue-veined Rebellion 1837, semi-soft Tête à Papineau, and Adoray. Adoray, a soft, relatively young cheese, was especially interesting given the special spruce wood wrap which helps flavor it. Each of them was delicious! At the Fromagerie's cheese shop, although their little restaurant was closed, they sold sandwiches and coffee in addition to a number of gourmet local products, which included (of course) their cheese curd for making that Québécois specialty poutine. If you do order something to eat or drink, there's both indoor and outdoor seating with a view of the Ottawa River. Decided to try out take to go their Adoray cranberry mini baguette sandwich with an onion confit. Glad I did! Even though I didn't get to enjoy it heated, the flavors worked well together. Definitely recommend stopping by Fromagerie Montebello!

This amazing little Cheese Factory located in Madoc, Ontario is just a short drive from Campbellford, Marmara and Warkworth but if you're a cheese lover like me, it's not too far from anywhere. I drove all the way from Brampton, actually I was close by staying in Marmora (see my other review) but still this place was on my list of things to see. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, their selection is amazing and the cheese curds??? Ohhh lets just say they didn't make it back home to Brampton. They store is reminiscent of a time gone by, it has a very rustic feel like an old country store, I loved it. They even have ice cream and fresh hot dogs to go and I don't mean those chincy little dogs, I mean these are bigger than the buns, yes I got me one of those as well. This is not a store you want to rush in and out of. Go on in, take your time and have look around, they have all sorts of treats and neat things. You must try their dip, if you don't see it up front by the cash ask for it, you won't regret it. So if you're in the Peterborough area or around Hastings County, make sure to make your way over to visit this amazing cheese factory.

The history of the place was fascinating and it was really great to actually watch the production floor putting out all of the delicious cheese.
