Old library part of the new library. Has a large magazine section, and many book clubs too.

This library has it all, beautiful interior space, a well-planned mix of old and new architecture, separate spaces for team projects and collaboration, magazines, research, kids play and quiet time. I love the bright & comfortable areas for the kids, puppets, archways, soft seating. The kids love it- several young kids were putting on a spontaneous puppet show for their parents. Lots of books with every subject available in 4 shelf high rows. There are some crafts and games sheets. There was a list of resources for learning about Native Americans and their many skills, achievements and contributions. The soaring ceilings and comfy seating in the magazine area is wonderful. Lots of magazines to peruse and some local periodicals for the region (MI history). Shelves of books that pertain to the several Book Clubs- easy to get involved. The Idea Lab is a crafty do-it-yourself place with 3D printers and dozens of cool completed projects. Lots of people enjoying the library on this Sunday. They have long OPEN hours- lots to learn and do! Join a book club- there are several! There are office like spaces w doors too. Free Wifi. This is the best county library I have ever seen in the US. I know taxes are high in this area, but you can see what they are used for!!

My service dog being polite and respectful while I'm on a Zoom call inside a small enclosed meeting room.

Lukewarm to cold. Libraries are public domains and its residents pay for the salaries of the librarians and its employees. I've lived in the BH-Birmingham area on and off for over 20 years and just recently moved back with my service dog. It seems that the majority of the people behind the desks are unwelcoming and some are rather rude. It's sad for me to state this as I am always a very positive and open minded person. I don't judge and I definitely don't give negative energy wherever I go. Libraries are supposed to be a place of refuge and peace; yet the people that work here exude negative energy and unwelcoming attitudes. I feel like I'm walking into that tv show; the one with all the negative ladies yapping about the world and the people they don't like or agree with. What a sad state humanity has entered into.

Small town library with very knowledgeable staff and easily accessible materials. The librarians are willing to go the extra mile when finding a title.

So rude. I went in and spoke with David on three separate occasions about selling him books. He was…read moreOK. But then when I brought the books in and was talking to him about them, he turned from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde. Couldn't understand it. Just rude and snotty and short. I guess there's other bookstores open. I'll go to those. Incredibly disappointed. A real tool.

If that doesn't deter you then coming here, as a book lover, researcher, or anyone involved in intellectual or literate pursuits, is one of the best decisions you could possibly make. This is a real bookshop. It's a relic from what you would have had easy access to in the 20th century and prior and that (sadly for our species) barely exists any longer. You're more likely to walk out with a first edition of some esoteric and forgotten knowledge than whatever you planned on finding when you walked in. You could spend hours just glancing through one row of shelves and still not even catch half of it. The books here are high quality, ranging from contemporary titles to 19th century (and probably beyond) originals. There's a bit of everything, from history and archaeology, to religion and spirituality, to music and cars, to novels and poetry, to travel and hobbies, to social matters and Jewish interests. If you like books, knowledge, or anything that could be found in a written text, you'll find it here. Apparently people dislike the owner. I have no idea why. He's brief, witty, and competent. Are people so accustomed to the fake smiles and creepy stalking you'd get at a Barnes & Noble that they've actually convinced themselves that this is real life? Or even desirable in any way? You won't find a retail worker pretending to like you in hopes of keeping a job or getting a tip here. Just a real man with a real mission and amenity. Also Known as Pine Grove Historical Museum, it is run by the Oakland County Pioneer and Historical…read moreSociety whose goal is the "Preservation of the Past for the Enrichment of Future Generations." It is a non-profit organization, always looking for a helping hand. They were closed the other day when I visited. This location is run solely by volunteers, and had no signs with hours of operation. Ah, but during my visit, a couple of the volunteers happened to stop by and gave me information about the organization. I took a brief walk around the well manicured grounds and found that they have a farm museum, carriage house, root cellar, smoke house, summer kitchen, school house and of course, the Wisner Mansion. While I was there, I shot a picture of the historical marker which is prominently displayed close to the roadway. Their next big event is an Ice Cream Social on 26 JUL 2014 and it promises to be a great time. Hours of operation are 11am - 4pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, library included. Group tours are scheduled in advance. I see it's been a little slow here in updating info, so contact Sara at 248-338-6732 or office@ocphs.org with any questions or to RSVP. Web site: www.ocphs.org. As time went by, and fewer people met the eligibility requirements, membership was opened to the descendants of pioneers and other residents of the county. Throughout the 19th and 20th century, the Society collected newspapers, books, photographs, manuscripts, and artifacts relating to Oakland County, and the collections were stored in the county courthouse in downtown Pontiac. In 1945 Pine Grove, the Pontiac homestead of Governor Moses Wisner, was purchased as a headquarters for the Society. In 1962 the organization was renamed the Oakland County Pioneer and Historical Society.
