First bite had everyone spitting it out in their napkins! It has a very peculiar and nasty taste so no one ate it. Returned to the store and was told that there would be no refund since it was bought on Thursday and not prepared til Saturday. Then she added that it was cut on Monday and should have been used sooner. She told me to take it with me since they didn't have a way to get rid of it. I told her it was HER problem and walked out. We believe to shop in our hometown and support small, independent businesses. This was a $15 lesson and a ruined family meal.

The label said 2.02 lbs @ 7.99 lb. When I got to the checkout, it rang up as 1.8 lbs @ 8.99 lb but I was talking to the cashier and didn't notice until I got home. The entire label read that the meatloaf was made on 4/6 and frozen on 4/13, so almost three months in the freezer. I was raised on home butchered meat, so the freezer time didn't bother me. I thawed it and cooked it. Out of the package the meat didn't appear to be anything other that hamburger that was very coarsely ground and wouldn't form a loaf. There were patches of white I first assumed to be fat, but they were still there after cooking,so they must have been some kind of filler or maybe cheese. The only seasoning appeared to me a whole lot of salt. Overall, the worst package of meat I've bought anywhere. And to top it off, the cashier charged me the 3% credit card fee, even though I paid cash. while she was telling me how great their meatloaf was.

They turned out to be the best beef snack sticks I'd ever tried. So, the next time I was in town with my wife from Columbus, OH, I made it a point to stop by and pick up some more. Her team found out how much I liked them, and on her last visit, they got even more for her to bring home to me. The store owner (I'm guessing his name is John, though I can't say for sure) loved the story so much that he sent back a huge selection of snack sticks and summer sausage, plus a display box that now has a spot in my office. Everything was absolutely delicious. I'll definitely drop by again to express my gratitude next time I'm in town. Great people. Until then, thank you! I highly recommend the regular plain snack sticks--they're my favorite. Don't sleep on the ends and pieces packaging. It's the same product, just the ends and pieces that don't make it into the pretty packaging. A great economical way to get more. Also love the old timey downtown store charm. I've never had any of the fresh meats, but I'm sure they are great. I just never really have a way to get them back home easily but next time I might just pack a cooler!
