SCAM - DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE…read more If you care at all about your pet DO NOT bring them here. What we all want for our pets is good, quality care with a trustworthy vet. But this isn't that type of place. I have a Bernese Mountain Dog - large breed- and my regular vet doesn't provide spay and stomach tacking services for such a large breed. So I started digging and found Lancaster Animal Clinic. IT WAS ALL DOWNHILL FROM HERE. My FIRST consult was with a female vet that gave my dog an exam, but told me she couldn't perform the surgery. If I wanted my dog's spay and stomach tacked, I'd have to have another consult with ON THE SPOT, which is a separate provider that uses their location. At the end of this visit, I was charged for a consult fee and for ear infection treatment. This was completely paid for, in full, no disputes. But a little frustrating when this could have been avoided by the staff when scheduling my appointment because seeing another vet would mean another consult fee... but still I wanted my dog to see the correct vet. So I made a SECOND consult appointment, in July, and came back to see the ON THE SPOT vet, Dr. Reynolds. During this visit, Dr. Reynolds examined my dog, talked to me about the spay and stomach tacking procedure, and I was very clearly uneasy about this and said I wanted to think about it and the associated cost which he quoted as $2,500. The vet also noticed during this visit, a skin irritation on my dog, and offered a special shampoo and pills. I DECLINED and said I would take my dog to our regular vet, but Dr. Reynolds said he would take care of it at no additional charge. I thought this was extremely considerate given I had been at the clinic multiple times and charged for multiple things without ever receiving the services I was there in consult for.... Can you guess what happened next?... I receive a bill, IN NOVEMBER, almost 5 months after the consult, saying that I owe the consult fee and the medication. When describing the situation to the staff, I'm treated as if I'm lying and neither the clinic staff, ON THE SPOT staff, or Dr. Reynolds can acknowledge a miscommunication on their part. I'm asked questions by their billing staff quoted from email "If you were going to get them through your regular vet., why did you take them? If you had any concerns about the fee for the medication why not ask before you left." I had absolutely no reason to confirm something that I thought was perfectly clear to me at that time. This clinic along with ON THE SPOT only want your money. They don't care if you've been a good client, they don't care about your pet...and they don't care about you... I was taken advantage of during my interactions with the clinic's staff and with Dr.Reynolds. I was completely misled which is highly dishonest and unprofessional. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS HERE! Update 12/9/2022: In response to the comment left by the clinic on Google to clarify a few MORE "miscommunications." Harley was well within the healthy weight for a Bernese Mountain Dog and NO where in her records shows obesity. In her examinations it was suggested to switch her from puppy to adult food to PREVENT obesity. During the exam with Dr. Reynolds - he in fact DID NOT recommend postponing the surgery. He said the skin irritation was not serious enough to cause him concern if we moved forward. AND I didn't just leave...I walked out with a vet tech and even asked what I needed to do before I left. Just PLEASE if anyone is considering coming here - DON'T! I'm really trying to keep pet owners from going through this with their furry loved ones.

I like the care that my dog receives; however, they are expensive. I had went a while between pets and after my first visit here I was amazed at how the profession has changed. This is not ran like a local small town vet, it is very (for lack of a better term) "corporatized". I understand that these are businesses, and managing costs are part of it, but the old fashioned vet never made me feel that way. I had read several places that VCA was part of a larger conglomerate, and it is noticed. I had a procedure quoted for my pet and VCA was close to triple the cost of the same procedure when compared to other vets. As I'm sure most consumers would do, I am going to seek comparable care at a more economically friendly facility.

When we got our first dog, a few days after, she wasn't feeling well and could not keep down food. We took her to Amanda Animal Hospital and we found out she had parvo. They didn't give her a great chance to survive but they were willing to do anything and everything. After four days at the hospital our dog made it through. If we didn't take her there and without their quick and effective treatments I don't think she would have made it. They usually focus on large breed but also serve house pets as well. The folks there are always friendly and you can see and feel their passion for animals. Our dogs have had a several operations and yearly check ups and they have done an excellent job!! We recommend them to anyone with pets and looking for a great vet. If you love your animals as much as we do and want the beat care I wouldn't any further than Amanda Animal Hospital.

The receptionist said she didn't have any openings that day, but would call me if there was a cancel. Sure enough, they called that same day. I was so impressed with the staff and the routine for recording a new patient. They were so sweet and friendly. Dr. Jeff Shields recognized the polyp and froze it, then sniped it off. My dog was calm and seemed to be in love with him and everyone else there. Dr. Shields was kind, explained everything, including his views on care of teeth, and gave me good information about the Westie breed. This is my 3rd Westie in 35 years, so we were able to agree on everything. He is incredibly well informed! The cost for the visit was very affordable, and being retired for 20 years, I am grateful for that! All in all, I would recommend this office to anyone looking for a compassionate and competent veterinarian. Kudos to them!!
