Seriously I have never spent so little time at any government office - and we all know how awful the DMV can be no matter the state you live in. I arrived. There was a large parking lot. Paid for parking online. Went in stood in line for less than 2 mins. There were at least six clerks. They all were in good moods. One clerk smiled and said "I can help the next customer please!" And I gave her my drivers license. She came back in less than 1 minute with my renewal certificate and tags. I joked with her how thankful I was I looked at the Google reviews. She smiled and said "well we like to believe we provide great service." And I was done. Strolled around the shops as I paid for 30 minutes of parking and I don't drive up to Ballard much. Cute and trendy neighborhood. A must repeat and highly recommended. Both the licensing office and the neighborhood.

I was stopped on 130th on aroura today (2/1) because of a man making threats and trying to come to me (information private, not going to say anything) while I was trying to go to work, and every one of the police offers were there to make sure that I was safe. This isn't the first time Seattle PD has came to save my day, and I am writing this review because I wanted to give thanks to the police officer that helped me. I didn't have time to grab names, but he was older, white bald and had a beard. Thank you.

Next thing you know a cop rolls up!!! I'm thinking it's only been 15 mins!!! Please be him? You know you hear about all the defunding of police and all this other stuff about cops. IM TELLING YOU I ONLY WAITED 15 MINS! THE OFFICER WAS EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL, ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS, EXPLAINED TO ME WHAT I NEED TO DO AND NOT DO, AND LET ME KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE FUTURE. He then wrote my case number on a card and told me where to reach out for questions. COULDNT OF GONE BETTER! I wish I looked at this outstanding officers name. I'll try to find it using my case # and I'll update!! Bottom line, I've been hearing all these horrible things about not so much our police but police around the US. So I was kinda expecting a little of what I've been hearing. NOT THIS OFFICER! AND NOT SEATTLE POLICE! Every word communicated was positive and efficient both on the phone and in person. THIS OFFICER WAS OUTSTANDING!! That was a huge relief to know SEATTLE is putting officers like this under their light bars! These people are HEROS! But when you do manage to squeeze your way around all of the unsupervised screaming children, it's awesome to see the salmon so up close. Again, the whole thing is just a fascinating process. There's much else to see and do besides just the locks and ladder. The whole place is just beautiful grounds. Great for walking around on a nice day. There's also events and whatnot that happen on the grounds here. Parking can be difficult. But there is hourly parking nearby. Just bring some patience and drive slowly through the parking areas. All in all, we had a fantastic visit here. Even the teens enjoyed it. And it's officially on my list as a place I want to go back to and spend more time.

There is this one Asian lady (I believe she is Korean) who helps me most of the time when I'm there, and she is great every time! She explains how things work thoroughly, whether I'm there for mailing in my old passport to get it renewed or sending a package to Japan. She is also very careful about putting in the correct address so I feel more comfortable and confident getting help from her. She also has good energy level and is nice to talk to. Being in customer-facing job myself, she inspires me to do better at my job too. This may be common knowledge, but since they do not let you use mailing tools like glue, tapes, or scissors, I recommend bringing them from home if you plan on packing on-site.

The "on-hold" area is easy to navigate, and it's right next to the self checkout station so if you need to quickly pop in to grab your stuff then check out, it's super convenient. I just really like this local simple sanctuary, and I hope others do, too.

I parked across the street and got a good shot of this directional sign! As I drew closer, I saw places on the sign that I would like to see - such as Machu Piccu and Rio de Janeiro.
