He has always been there for any issue we've ever had for more than ten years and provided the most amazing physical and medical care, well surpassing hospital and pediatric care in diagnosis and treatment. Knowing Dr. B and his team would be there for us following my youngest's sports-related head injury this weekend, I was able to sleep last night knowing we'd be in Ballas' care in the morning. I was at Ballas Chiropractic about two years ago, and even though time has passed, I haven't been able to stop thinking about this experience, so I want to share what I've learned since leaving. Before coming to Ballas, my pelvis was scooping to the right and my left shoulder was bending over my left hip -- my body was essentially shaped like a C. I didn't know this at the time; I just knew I was having breathing problems and migraines. But Ballas never caught it, because they only x-rayed down to my chest and never imaged my pelvis. As a result, their care didn't help -- it made me significantly worse. One adjustment in particular, from a blonde woman on staff, cracked something in my mid-back, and from that point everything got worse. My breathing problems escalated to the point I nearly went to the ER. My appetite disappeared and my stomach felt like it was folding in on itself. I was constantly lightheaded from lack of oxygen to my brain, and I lost 20 pounds in a year -- weight I couldn't afford to lose, since I was already underweight. I finally found the right specialists -- a better chiropractor and an adhesion release therapist -- to start undoing the damage. But Ballas set me back about two years. On top of the physical harm, I also hated with how patronizing the staff was. They never took me seriously. I could hardly stand about 10 years ago & a co- worker recommended Dr. Ballas. Excellent care from Dr B. & Dr Slabaugh & PT it helped fast. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The facility was close to my job. After retiring I still go here (23 miles). When you are treated the way this facility is miles mean nothing. Care, respect and smiles is all you need. read more

I've long hesitated to express my regret regarding Ballas Chiro due to my dear friend who suggested them. Were it not for the terrible pain I went through as result of the manipulations I was subjected to I would not express a review. I needed a total hip replacement rather than chiropractic care. Care- 10 years ago, Ballas was excellent and caring and sessions lasted at least 45 minutes, included some relaxing the muscles prior to the adjustment(s), followed by applications of hot and cold compresses. These sessions helped. Recently returned due to "whiplash" type injury snd post concussion syndrome. After a 15 minute consultation, was given a treatment plan with the total number of treatments-adjustments & acupuncture for "my total" of approx. $700.00 and insurance to cover rest. Didn't sign or prepay the amount but agreed to weekly and bi-weekly treatments. Started to go as scheduled for a ( minute painful cracking the neck. Turn the head crack snd repeat other side. Then leave. It seems like a puppy mill. More interested in bring an ambulance chaser rather than following the doctrine of healing. After 6 visits I fired them. The office has expanded as well as the doctors. Ballas only visits twice a week. The check in is extremely rapid but friendly. In total check in and treatment and check out is less than 15 minutes. If you want an in and out, maybe a day relief from pain or discomfort see Ballas. But I believe you have better ways to waste.. er ...spend your money. read more

Please be forewarned...this is a poorly run practice that aggressively treats patients without proper and thoughtful assessment or care. After using chiropractic care all of my adult life and additionally for my family, I've never had such a bad experience...and bad meaning dangerous. They espouse an expertise in a range of modalities, while haphazardly using them and placing a strong focus on maximized billing. WORST chiro experience ever! First of all, I was assaulted. Left with a huge bruise on my hip from their "treatment" When he slammed his body into me. He never said anything and I was in shock. Next appointment, I told the "Doctor" about it. He never apologized but then tried to make it my fault. Wow. No it was YOUR fault cause you are the one who is suppose to tell me what to do and how to lay etc. He's lucky I never pressed charges. THEN, I was blatantly lied to about the insurance coverage. They tried to tell me it was fully covered minus a small amount. But that was a lie. After I clearly stopped going...come to find out that it was way more out of pocket. i Would NEVER recommend them to anyone. Horrible. read more

This is such an incredible office. The people are amazing and professional and the doctors are really knowledgeable and good at what they do. I had an impacted joint in my back that was causing terrible pain. I felt 80% better after my first visit and then continued to get better and better with each followup. I've been here twice now and have been well taken care of at both visits. I've been dealing with some lower back issues and they've managed to both alleviate some of the initial pain and set me up with a plan to keep me mobile and prevent further injury. I love how it's not your typical adjust your back and that's it. They have a rehab specialist, massage, acupuncture and so much more. Everyone is super friendly too. I started out thinking they would really help me. I saw each doctor except Dr Tyler Slabaugh. I was sent to an orthopedist (I guess that's all they knewi in terms of a specialist.) for arthritic changes in my neck. Luckily, the PA at that clinic had just left a position at Carolina Neurology and Spine. He assessed my pain and told me he would recommend that I see the neurosurgeon he worked with previously. He was confused about why I was sent to orthopedic care but felt that I was not a candidate for surgery. I saw the neurosurgeon and he concurred. What brings me to this point is after all of this not once did Dr Jessica Slabaugh reach out to see how I was doing. Whether I had seen the orthopedist and if I wanted to continue care. Likely she received the notes from the orthopedic PA. But - no call. No text. No follow up whatsoever. When she approached me about the specialist appointment - she told me that she was suggesting this consult outside the clinic because I wasn't improving and they would be audited!! She said she was concerned BCBS would audit the practice. Ok. I get that improvement is necessary in healthcare for insurance to cover care but that's not something you say to someone in pain. I have since moved on to a fantastic. Not run of the mill five chairs deep practice. I see this chiropractor (Dr. Charlet) every week or two. He cares. He takes his time. With his care I also get dry needling via a recommendation he had - these people at Ballas care about money and quantity. Quality isn't important. Their BMWs are important. It's horrible! I have disc disease. It's something that I will manage from now on. I have bad days but they are FAR LESS after seeing my current chiropractor. There's always a fee option for opting out of insurance and paying for adjustments. Ballas doctors want a quick fix. I wasn't a five minute adjustment. It took 10-15 minutes and sometimes one of the other doctors at Ballas had to help with an adjustment. They want the quick fix and the money. The money. It's a mill. Trust me. Don't waste your time. It's my health that was at stake. "We might get audited." And - An orthopedist for neck pain that's a result Of degenerative disc disease when at my age (mid 50s) most people have degenerative disc disease. Run! I first thought to come to Ballas because they would give massages at the school I worked at during teacher appreciation week. When my back pain returned, I reached out to them and had nothing but positive experiences. What I liked most was that they offered rehab. I had visited another professional in the CLT area and was given an outdated photocopy of a list of stretches to perform at home. Ballas is by far one of the leading chiropractic teams in Charlotte. I went to Ballas because of chronic pain in my lower back. I first checked with my medical provider to make sure chiropractic was covered. It stated I was allowed 15 adjustments per year with just a co-pay. I met with the Ballas team (2 visits) and was pleased with my experience. I had never had a spinal adjustment before. The doctor was professional and courteous. He sat down and developed a plan for me that included adjustments, massages and rehabilitation. Total out-of-pocket cost came to $1,000. When I explained to Ballas that I could only afford the treatments covered by my health insurance (adjustments), they told me I had to do the complete plan or nothing at all. I was shocked that they would turn away a patient, but they did. I was also over charged on the two visits I had. When brought to their attention, Ballas quickly refunded the over payment. I started believing in chiropractic because of Dr.Ballas and his practice. I was in immense pain on my bday eve when I first saw him. It was a Thursday evening when I first saw him and I had plans to travel Monday morning. I visited Ballas Chiropractic for the first time in March 2012. I can not tell you how it has changed my mobility and my overall health.
