Bally's Evansville was absolutely terrible. Upon arrival, the walk from the garage to the hotel check-in was long. Being a people with disabilities, after having had a long day, with bags in hand, it was rough. When we got to the check-in counter, the woman changed the room we were in. We paid the extra fees to be in a room that had either a view of the city or the river view. We ended up with a room that had the maintenance road & rooftop machinery right outside our window. The shower door wouldn't open and we had to use the shower gel to lube the bottom of the door to open and close it. The water knobs were crusted to the point that they wouldn't turn. We had to fight with them for several minutes before finally working. The shower leaked badly and when I finally tried to get out, I had to relube the floor to open the door again. I was told upon check-in that we would receive $50 free play and upon reaching the game floor and asking, I was told that it was a promotion for members who stayed and we would have had to be members prior to booking. The absolute most ridiculous thing we experienced was the location of the hotel check-in counter. After the long walk from the garage to the check-in counter, we were informed that the actual hotel was on the opposite side of the property! So basically, we would have to go back the way we came, walk all the way through the casino and then we'd find the hotel entrance. The other option was to go back to the garage and drive to the hotel entrance. But when you looked at the parking on that side of the building, it was creepy and there wasn't parking near the entrance. We weren't prepared to put our new vehicle in a lot that was dark and basically open. So we had to lug our bags clear across the whole property. The hotel area actually had an unused check-in area. It was actually really nice. The reason we were given that they didn't use it... COVID. Ya. It's 2026 and Bally's is still using COVID as an excuse for customer discomfort and their convenience. So they get money savings and convenience at the expense of people who thought that they would experience what Bally's advertises. I would NEVER recommend Bally's and we will never stay at another. It was shameful. read more

Friendly staff overall would be a huge boost for this business. We only encountered one staff member that passed us in the hall and said hello and smiled. The front desk staff seemed inconvenienced to have to check us in or answer any questions. Also gave us a smoking room when we asked for non smoking . Went in the room and it smelled horrible. Had to call the front desk to get a different room. Then the lady with the stellar personality ( lots of sarcasm here) charged us $20 more to upgrade due to her error. The couch smelled like rotten trash in our room, fridge was in the floor again and turned on and off with the light switch?!?!? Other than that, the bed was comfortable. Tv is rather small. Rooms are outdated. Air conditioning is fabulous! It would also help if you had an actual non smoking room in the casino. She smell of smoke in the casino was over powering for a non smoker. Even the lobby of the hotel smelled strongly of smoke odor. And the carpets in the hallway ....... Yuck! From the casino to the hotel the carpets are very worn and dirty. I know it's an older hotel, but a carpet cleaner and air purifier system would go a long way. That with employees who actually are happy at work. They work in hospitality, so smiling and greeting any guest should be a mandatory gesture . Also keeping homeless people from sleeping on the benches inside the hotel between the lobby and the casino would be a positive change. We encountered a person like this that was half sleeping and talking to himself and twitching on the bench in the lobby hallway. I would never ever feel safe bringing a child here. If they are under 21, that's a no go!! My husband and I were disappointed to say the least, and will never stay here again. read more

Recently, we had our wedding reception here. The setup and décor were absolutely beautiful, and we had a wonderful time overall. However, we were disappointed with how the food service was handled. We received many compliments from our guests about how good the food tasted, but we also received several complaints that it was put away far too quickly. Multiple guests told us they never even got a chance to eat because the buffet was closed before everyone had been served. One of my husband's friends went to get food and was told, "No, man, we're getting ready to put this up," while employees were serving themselves from the buffet. We were never told that we would essentially be paying for staff meals from the food we purchased. As the bride and groom, we were told we would be able to get to-go plates since we would be busy greeting and mingling with our guests. Unfortunately, that never happened, and neither my husband nor I got to eat our own reception meal. Another disappointment involved our wedding cake. As soon as we cut the cake and fed each other the first bite, it was immediately taken to the back to be cut and served. We were never offered a slice of our own cake. We were told the top tier would be placed in the walk-in cooler for us to pick up the next day. When we returned, we had issues retrieving it. Security was rude, and one employee even used inappropriate language toward us. We were told we could go into the walk-in freezer and get it ourselves, despite signs clearly stating that employees only were allowed beyond that point. Eventually, someone did retrieve it for us, but the entire situation was unnecessary and frustrating. Overall, our reception was beautiful, and we're grateful for the memories we made. However, the issues with the food service, the lack of communication, and the way we were treated afterward left us very disappointed. This may not be everyone's experience, but I wanted to share ours so future couples know to communicate expectations clearly and ensure they're able to enjoy the meal and cake they paid for on their special day. read more

My first stay will also be my last. Rude clerk at the check in desk. I booked my room online and when I got there, she questioned where I got my rate and had to get another representative to review it to make sure it was correct. Also, an hour after I checked in my room key was deactivated, and when I went downstairs to tell them about it and get a new key, the same woman quizzed me if I put the key near my phone because phones deactivate them. Why do you have a room key system where you can't keep it anywhere near your phone? What kind of stupid sense is that? On top of all of that, I put the "do not disturb" sign on the door before I went to bed yet housekeeping came knocking on my door at 9 AM and woke me up anyway. Terrible experience at the hotel. Between mold and the walls peeling I was really disappointed in this establishment. I would of expected better from Bally's than this out dated 70's decorative hotel, with a 20" TV. The tv was so small you can't watch it. Would definitely pass on staying here and hit the motel 6 it maybe more modern and clean. read more

Who knew hotels still offered smoking rooms?! Not us. We made a spur of the moment decision to stay downtown for the 4th of July fireworks, and booked an unexpectedly expensive room at Bally's. The reservation agent did not inform us that the room was a smoking room, which we guessed immediately when getting off the elevator, and the hallway reeked. The room was well-used, furniture a little battered, cigarette burns on the carpet, and had obviously housed numerous smokers. We attempted twice to get moved to a non-smoking room, but it was apparent the staff didn't want to move us, even when the web site said there was a non-smoking suite available. They did send up an ozone machine which meant we had to exit the room for an hour while it ran; that helped, but only for a couple of hours. The next night when I unpacked my nightgown at the next hotel on our trip, it smelled of smoke. So if you're a smoker, this hotel may be for you. If not, double check and insist that they put you in a non-smoking room. PS. If you go the casino, be prepared for a smokey experience, as their ventilation can't keep up. read more

What a pleasant surprise! My wife and I were traveling and while searching YELP! for a hotel in the Evansville area I saw Ballys. First recently we went Caesar's Indiana and had the worst experience there ever at a Casino/Hotel property. More about that on another post. Ballys had a room available on a Friday night, decent price, super clean and comfortable! Staff were all friendly and gracious. Food options were available on site! We grabbed a snack at the Tap House. Food was good and reasonably priced. Casio was kept clean and employees were helpful and friendly. Only wish they had more Gaming options in the non smoking area! Great location for a quick getaway for us! Hopefully we will get some offers to come back!!! read more

I was playing poker on the 4th and the 5th of November at Ballys in Evansville. I cashed out with approx 3k chips on the 4th. I gambled again on the 5th until the gaming commission shut down the poker room when I started to play other games. Fast forward to the 9th of November, I sat down to play poker again. After about 20 min the floor asked me to go to the Main cage of the casino without telling me a reason. The cage proceeded to tell me that they over paid me $495 on the 4th of November. I asked for a pit boss for assistance. He proceeded to tell me that he was not here that evening, and could not provide me with any further information. They refused to tell me amounts or times, or name of the person doing the transaction, only that they "overpaid" me 3 sessions prior. As I had just arrived I had $500 in chips in front of me and said that they would take the cash at the cage. Bear in mind on the 5th of November we could only buy our chips from the table games, not the dealer, not poker floor, only from table games and bring them back into the poker room. I feel something very nefarious was happening, I asked if I had any recourse and they told me no. I asked if I could appeal I was told no. Only that I "owed" them money from 3 sessions. I requested a recept of the transaction that they "took" my money. $495 at its lowest denomination is 8 bills. How incompetent can a poker room supervisor be off 8 bills? Just makes it seem even more nefarious. I believe someone stole and blamed my large stack, 3 sessions and a week later to save themselves. read more

This poker room is worthless. Untrained dealers, only 6 tables in the place; usually only one running. Only 1/3 NLH. Tough to know when to go. Example: last Saturday, got there at 1:45. 2 tables going. 8 waiting. Told not opening a 3rd until 'maybe 4:00'. Maybe? 8 people here NOW waiting? So I left. You can't call in to get on a list. No e-shuffler, no table phone charger plug ins, no food allowed, no free alcoholic drinks ($8 each), huge rakes. Have fun in a smoke-filled, old-school casino. read more

I've never had to use to check into the hotel so I can only review my experiences as a Casino customer. First off I love the fact the entrance area feels more secured for you, or really anyone (especially us women) to travel alone, the parking is close to hotel & the airport in general. That in itself makes it less stressful. Its mainly an entertainment complex located on the scenic banks of the Ohio River River front property in Evansville Indiana. It has the fairly large sized casino on the lower floor just inside the main entrance of the parking garage. (That is the popular single-level 24-hour casino that encompasses 45,000 square feet of gaming space featuring 1,175 slot games, over 30 table games, a Poker Room and a High Limit Room). Location overall is great, within walking distance of several bar & grills. Not to mention if you are traveling in to Evansville for an event at the Ford Center this establishment is only 10 minutes away. There's also a great bar & grill inside the casino with decent food selections for this kind of establishment. They offer great selection of alcohol, along with free fountain soft drinks. Have not been here for about a year. Parking was bad, the casino had most of the garage bottom floor spaces closed off. Casino's ventilation system is not very good. But the worse part was with the equipment. Electronic roulette was out of order. Then we had an issue with a slot machine and we could not get anyone to help. Took over 30 min to get help and that was after I talked to some of the floor managers. It was not a good experience. Very disappointing night. read more

Don't stay at the hotel. Each time we stay at Legends tower at the casino we have a new issue. The previous time we didn't have any hot water in the shower. We called the front desk and they said they would send maintenance right up. Well, myself, my wife, and our kids waited an hour and they never showed. I went to the front desk and they said a ticket wasn't ever put in for maintenance to come and look at it. This time or AC didn't work. I called the front desk and they said they would send someone up. My wife and kids left and drove back home. I went to the casino for 3 hours and when I got back the air was still broke. Called the front desk and the lady said she would send someone up. When I asked why someone hasn't came in the 3hrs I was gone she got very rude. She said she doesn't know anything about it because she just got there and she couldn't call maintenance if she was sitting on the phone with me. Every time we stay here there is toothpaste spit all over the sink, wall,and mirror Last time we turned on the smaller TV for our kids to watch, every channel was fuzz and the hair dryers are so nasty they suck to your hand without even needing to hole them. Oh, and there are 2 hotels attached to the casino. Legends is supposed to be the luxurious one but they decided to shut down the front desk there so, in order to check in you have to go all the way to the other hotel, check in at that front desk, then drive back to the other hotel. Spend your money somewhere else and stay at a hotel that is actually maintained. In the meantime I'm going to sleep... This place does not deserve even a one star. There are so many issues. The hotel is not handicap nor pet friendly. If you are elderly and have walking issues - do not go here. You have to walk so far to the parking garage take an elevator to the second floor to access the skywalk to take another set of elevators to your room. The front desk staff on the night we checked in (10/26/2024 at 4:15pm) was so rude I never have experienced a more rude front desk person before like that. I will never stay at this hotel again. We made reservations in advance as we always do for a hotel, for a smoker's king room. When we arrived it just happened to be the night of the local prom and we were then told that there were no king rooms available, and they could get us in another. We took the other room which ended up being a nonsmoking double queen. After checking our account later, we saw that the charged us $100 more. Already irritated about that we find gum stuck to the wall, the bathroom was not near as clean as it should have been for what we were paying for, and just felt downright dingey. when I brought this up to the front desk, I was told that the rest of the rooms were rented out and there really wasn't much that could be done. this was our first stay at a casino hotel and i honestly expected more from the place. the hotel sucked! The casino was as fun as it could be. Some of the few ATMs were broken which made the lines at the others super long. I would definitely go to the casino again for a day trip but wouldn't stay there. read more

Huge crowd at hotel on Saturday afternoon and only two clerks working and one was very rude. Unacceptable! The front desk at the Legends tower was completely unmanned so you have to go down the block to check in. After all that our room was filthy! Some brown liquid spilled all over glass doors and not cleaned at all. Toilet didn't work and couldn't get help to repair so ended up fixing flapper chain myself. Come on Ballys your charging a resort fee on top of pricy hotel which is fine if you give what people expect. Absolutely filthy. The floors look like they are 30 years old, ripped and stained horribly. The carpet was not only in poor repair but appeared as if had not been cleaned in years. BEWARE BOOKING ON LINE. MANY,MANY HIDDEN FEES including a $50 deposit and a $25 "resort fee" (the resort from you know where) along with taxes that increase your stay to double the web stated price. Only 1 lamp out of 3 was functional in the room and I found a bug in the coffee maker in the room. They are still doing "COVID" cleaning meaning if you stay more than one night, you are on your own. read more

This is the most disgusting room I have ever stayed in. There are noticeable stains on all chairs, lamps, etc. The room smelled like 32 packs of cigarettes had been smoked in it upon our arrival which caused immense coughing for our group. To top it all off, we had an individual screaming and being tased by law enforcement at 7am outside our hotel door which lasted minutes and we couldn't get back to sleep. I am staying at the hotel now. We have spent some money and won some money. That was great. The problem is that I am a brittle diabetic. We went down at Midnight because my sugar dropped to 59. My low blood sugar alarm went off. Thinking they would have the Deli open 24/7. I have never been to a casino that did not have food available 24/7. I live in Tennessee so it isn't like I can run home and get a sandwich. As much as you pay for a room they also do not have a fridge. OR microwave in the room so I could not keep my insulin cold either. I couldn't bring a sandwich with nowhere to keep it. They don't have carts to bring your luggage to the room. So a cooler is out of the question. You would have to carry it and your luggage a mile to your room. The deli was closing, I told them my plight. They refused to help. I could have paid for the sandwiches and they could have left a note on the register explaining why the money was there for the next morning. The jerk even told us he was a diabetic too, but would not help. My sugar will not hold on snacks from the hotel snack bar. Chips will bring it up and cause it to dump out again. Peanut butter Crackers will do the same. They had a small meat and cheese stick. That was the only protein option. These few items cost 11.63, which is 3 times what it would cost at a convenient store. Then there was peeon sitting in the hall, so messed up on pot and some other drug he couldn't even talk or hold up his head. He reeked of pot, but there was no way just pot would have done that to him. When we alerted the security to tell them to watch him in case he had ODed, they did not seem concerned. It was that we were ratting we were really concerned he had ODed. I felt sorry for him. It was sad. It was shocking to me how unfeeling these people seem to be. We had been thinking of moving to Indiana, this area. I have 2 sons here, but I am so use to people being nice everywhere we go in Tennessee. This is just not something I am accustomed too. We genuinely care about people there. We know when people are not from Tennessee. Their behavior tells it all. I am a true Southern lady, and I invite people I don't know to my house for food. We are just like that. If we see you in need, we help. Don't matter who you are or where you are from, even if you are rude. We might tell you you will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. We will help you anyway. This is my last visit to Bally's. If they care so little for the people that come here, they can definitely do without my husband's and my money. read more

The worst casino I have ever been to. Want to get lung cancer from the toothless people that should not be gambling, then it's the place to go. Might as well sprinkle some covid everywhere with the most undereducated staff ever. I literally had a staff member tell me that I could not take my insulated drink through the casino to my room in the legends part of the hotel and made me go outside and walk an extra block to my room and said it was shorter walk when I had to walk backwards 400 yards, then threatened me to be removed when he was 100% wrong about the walk. They are pushing to make money from you anyway they can. DO NOT GO HERE!!! You'll lose money, eat terrible food that is overpriced, and get terrible service. read more

I have visited this casino numerous times. However, for at least the past two months, I've not been able to even get a hot mocha at the Deli because "the machine is down". Sad. Then, I walk over to the soda machine in the casino to get a cold drink instead and, find that there's no ice at the soda machine. So, I get a soda, no ice, although there are actually TWO ice machines. Good luck on finding anyone coming around taking drink orders because waitresses are basically nonexistent. I'm probably way too young to have visited as many casinos as I have. But alas, we found ourselves visiting Tropicana in Evansville during a recent visit to the city. Upon arrival I opted to get a players card, as I assumed they would have a promotion going on for new visitors/card holders; think free $10 slot play, scratch off card, etc. Zip. Zero. Nadda. Nothing. This is the first casino I've ever visited that hasn't offered a new patron some incentive for stopping by. Nonetheless off to the slots I go... 30 minutes in, $40 bucks down and smelling like a pack of cigarettes, I was ready to leave. Big note to those sensitive to cigarette smoke: there's a tiny 'smoke-free' space right next to all of the smoking-permitted areas. The smoke-free space isn't enclosed or anything. What's the point? One person in our group did have great luck at the Black Jack tables leaving with over $500. I prefer the smoke-free casinos that offer new visitors some sort of promotion. Tropicana just wasn't my cup of tea. read more

Booked the "Play and Stay" rate on Internet so I could spend time in the casino. After checking in I walked over to casino and it was closed (surveillance system was offline). Tried again later at night, still closed the next morning. Room was okay, not great also had garage view so closed curtains asap. Building is older and they did a fair job of updating rooms but not great. At check in I asked about breakfast and was told they didn't have any food service because of COVID (still?). I suggest the Doubletree for nice rooms and full breakfast. read more

We stayed 2 nights in a non smoking room on the 6th floor which is a non smoking floor. We could still smell the cigarette smoke in our room all the time. When you park in the garage you must walk by the Casino and almost gag on the stench of the cigarette smoke. If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke like my wife and I are it made us miserable for our stay. After coming home everything we had in the hotel stinks of cigarette smoke. There is no place in the hotel to Eat except the casino which is full of smoke. I come to Evansville to play and stay at Bally's because it's usually a fun experience. This particular time was awful, and I was treated horribly by the casino security staff and the front desk (with the exception of Mrs. Bobbie who was really nice to me.) The first problem that I encountered was housekeeping knocking on my door at 8:50am on checkout day. She also came back at 9:50a.m. After checking out, I asked the hotel to store my big pink bag and the front desk clerk let me know that he would only make one exception for me because I have to be staying in the hotel in order to store my things. I informed him that I wanted to go play before I left, and I had just checked out. This makes no sense, the clerk knew I had checked out of the hotel (Room 305) a few minutes ago. He was very short with me. (I did not drive into the city this time; I caught the greyhound because I live in Tennessee.) By the way, I stayed on my room comps, so this proves that I play at the casino. He didn't care. My troubles didn't stop there, however. I come to this casino to play for a long time since I'm from another state and don't get to come as much as I like. I play, then I take a break in the red chairs. I start back playing after 30 minutes. This time, the security at the front entrance of the casino treated me like dirt. I walked up to him and stated, " Do I need to show my I.D. again since you've already seen it." He ignored me and wouldn't respond. The other officer came to my aid. I asked why is he ignoring me? The other officer stated, "I don't know." The other officer informed me that the guy's name was Chris Maddin. He still ignored me like I wasn't even standing there. I complained to the supervisor, Alex. Alex informed me that there was nothing he could do because Chris is over him. Alex stated he would inform the director who was in surveillance and didn't have time to deal with my complaint.
