We have stayed at this hotel in multiple occasion. We get free or discounted rooms with our Ballys reward card. We have even got spur of the moment free rooms on the weekend. We got a smoking room facing the river free and it did not smell like smoke at all. We don't smoke but that was the only free room availabe. It is a nice clean hotel. Rhey have also added key card swiping in the elevator so no one else can access the floors unless your a guest.All the staff is friendly as well Kudos keep up the great work. read more

Received a voucher for a free stay Sunday-Thursday and the only day we could use this without taking off work would be Sunday night - Monday Memorial Day and was told that's a black out day and it cannot be used. So you'd have to take off a day of work and not get paid to use the "perks" you get for being a member at their casino. Ridiculous. read more

This is the first casino I've ever been to, and it didn't disappoint! I didn't stay at the hotel, so this is a review of the casino itself. The place was HUGE! There were machines as far as the eye can see. It was very busy but my husband and I had no problem moving from machine to machine. There were 1 cent, 25 cent, 50 cent, $1 machines. They also had many tables of black jack, craps, and poker. They offered free soft drinks as you move through the place. We did stop in the bar, which was very nice. Beguine the bar they had a stage where they have shows. It was an awesome setup. You could also play as you sat at the bar. The drinks were a bit steep, we were under the impression they were on the house like the soft drinks, but they were not. So watch out for that if visiting. The only other downside was the place allowed smoking. They did have designated spots where it was allowed, but it's one big open space so even though it's designated nothing stops the smoke from spreading over into the non smoking areas so it does smell. They had a high limit area and also a restaurant in the casino. We had a ton of fun and would definitely visit again! read more

I am updating this review to say I have had a change of mind. This now ranks as the biggest shit hole excuse for a casino we have ever seen. Came back up to visit relatives. Met at Trop Evansville. In less than a half hour, we lost over $400. The ongoing thing seems to be that put a $20 bill in and you get absolutely nothing in return. It actually did start to turn around after 45 minutes when I won $1.09. This place obviously takes advantage of everybody that walks in the door as I have been here numerous times and each time there's absolutely no play time, no bonus rounds, rude employees and flat beer. Was woken up at 3:30 am with someone banging on our door telling us to open the door or they were going to open it. Me and my husband both thought we were being robbed or worse. My husband ask him to show his ID and he wouldn't. He just said he was going to throw us off the property. We called the front desk who appeared to have no idea what was going on so I used my cell and called 911, they said it was an officer and for us to open the door and she stayed on the phone with us. My husband opens the door and he immediately then he says it's a misunderstanding and the person they were looking for ran our way. Needless to say neither of us slept after that! I have been coming to this hotel/casino for almost 4 years Since Caesars took it over it has changed too much for me. This will most likely be my last trip here. I smoke and they have condemned all smoking from the casino floor which is actually fine with me. People were leaving burn marks everywhere and not being careful so I understand that. However, you have to go outside to smoke and then go through the hassle of temperature and license and removing mask to get back in. They should accommodate their guests by adding on somewhere that you don't have to do all that like other casinos do. And you can't even take a drink onto the casino floor which I think is going too far. I stay at a suite in the hotel which is great and I will miss the tub and large shower as I have a tiny shower at home and no tub. The service at the hotel is great and I totally understand the need to take ice and coffee out of the room due to nasty Covid. My breaking point though was today. I went to the casino this evening and I play specifically 5 different slots. They were all down....I really don't understand. I normally spend about 1,500 to 2,500 per visit and I'm not proud of that, but its my spending money and I don't go out to eat or do much of anything else. This is my break from work and life and I enjoy it. Unfortunately, this has changed things for me and I'm sad about it. read more

The hotel from the outside looks really nice and appealing, the lobby as well, the casino being connected is another plus but other than that, what they don't mention online is, the tv is very small and that could be a deal breaker for some, the vending machine wasn't working the ice machine ran out of ice(minor things) The room is decent but you can tell it's not up to date like most, only thing they did was put a 30in flat screen in here, but the really bad thing is ever since my friend and I got in the room it has been NON STOP SNEEZING! I'm not a person with sensitive allergies or allergic to a lot AT ALL!! so for the first couples hours I paid it no mind, went to the casino for a few hours didn't sneeze once and then came back to the room and the sneezing continued! So IM NOT CRAZY it's definitely something in the room we were staying in and it's not only me but my friend too. We were not even able to sleep due to the amount of dust (we presume) in the air. We've been coming to the Tropicana for the last year and a half. Our first experience was great! But it has steadily declined the last three visits. Drinks were horrible, bar staff rude and grumpy. Seemed like they did not want to be there and took forever to get a weak drink. The cafe and restaurants served out of a can soups and foods. The management needs to rethink there strategy. The place looks like it has potential, they need to go to other casinos and get an idea. Like take a trip up north to Michigan. Starting in the Upper peninsula with Bay Mills resorts and casinos. If they followed a business plan and hired people, like Bay Mills. They would triple the amount of traffic. read more

Sr. Casino Host, Dianna Hart gives the Casino & Hotel that personalized touch to make you want to come back! The professionalism she demonstrated showed that she really cares about the customers and that they feel "welcomed"! She was helpful, courteous and knowledgeable about the Casino. Her demeanor was certainly appreciated. The hotel rooms are in fact, pretty nice, unique style and you can tell that go the extra step by making sure that there are enough electrical outlets to plug all of your phones, charges, laptops, etc! If you are in town, this is the place to visit! Yes, there is smoke and I'm a non-smoker but the fun at the Casino will override the smoke! I think you will have a BLAST! This "high class hotel" is a joke!! Dolls Motel in Vincennes has more to offer for a cheaper price than this dump! My boyfriend and I reserved a river side room, $15 extra dollars just to make sure, and the windows were so high up we couldn't see the water. There was no microwave, refrigerator, and only one mirror... in the junk bathroom that wasn't a walk in shower... it was a mold spore with a couple clean towels. The toilet overflowed after first use and the front desk female was a bitch!!! $250 from 4pm until 11am next morning. In order to post this I had to select a star rating.. There were no stars in the negative so I had to lie and choose 1 star. Highly disappointed. read more

Spent one night here (fo free, thanks to the BF's accounting firm) on December 1st. As soon as you walk in, BAM - casino. It was my first time in a casino and I was partially impressed and partially grossed out. First, smoking is allowed inside. Ew. Despite them pumping in tons of pure oxygen, there was a lingering aroma of stale smoke. It was also a bit depressing seeing people with oxygen tanks and in wheelchairs at slot machines. The thing to do in Indiana? Shrug. To get in, if you're under 30 you have to go in through a separate lane. Essentially your ID is scrutinized more here. It was eyeballed, scanned, and inspected in one of those red light machines. The terminology escapes me, but it felt like getting through airport security. We passed, no worries y'all. Once inside, my BF handed me a dollar and told me to, 'go crazy'. Aww. I found a machine that had a lever, simply because I wanted to pull it. I only bet 25 cents per pull, doubled my money, and promptly lost it all. Satisfied by my gambling experience, we left. The hotel room itself was decent. Two double beds, a mini fridge, a great view of the waterfront, with a sparkling clean bathroom. The towels were fluffy and the beds comfy. Smoking is allowed in some rooms, and it smelled like the non-smoking and smoking rooms weren't separated by floor. So there were minor traces of smoke in the halls. Not sure what the nightly rate was since we didn't have to pay, but not sure I'd pay more than $80 to stay here. read more

Terrible room. Cigarette smoke smell was awful. Tried to change rooms, but was told everything was booked. Went take shower and no hot water. Called front desk and left on hold hearing all about the casino. A nice young man came to room to spray down room, but the stanch was too bad. Bed is nice, but showering is not going to be an option in my room. Staff is friendly, but hopefully a refund won't be an issue. Can't recommend this hotel sadly. So, I was really loving the new casino. It is small, but the only time you really feel the size is on the weekends. I say I "was" content, because I no longer am. And, the place seems to have gotten a whole lot smaller with recent changes: First, the tables used to remain at 5.00, instead of doubling on weekend nights, like other casinos. This is one reason we chose to go to Tropicana over French Lick, or other closer places. Taking advantage of people wanting to go out for the weekend is selfish. We think they do it to eliminate the small change crowd. I encouraged people to drive the extra miles, and Tropicana would make it worth it. My argument is: People can play 10.00 anytime they choose, so being forced should never be a Saturday night rule. Taking the 5.00 option away from people does nothing more than leave empty chairs at tables. It doesn't make us spend more, it shortens our night, makes it less worth the time it took to get there. We chose Tropicana over French Lick on weekends BECAUSE they never forced 10.00 tables on us. No reason to not choose French Lick, now. Goodbye Tropicana. Second, they aren't allowing the table play (for certain people) on Saturdays. But, to make matters worse, Saturday night I scanned my card at the kiosk, and it gave me no table play, same with my husband. Although, he had a coupon booklet that stated he had table and wouldn't be allowed to use it on Saturday. We scanned again on Sunday, and we printed out table play - both expired on the 28 - we were there 29 & 30. So, no table play showed Saturday, but we printed expired coupons on Sunday. Not nice, Tropicana. You always get our card money no matter what, even with the meager 20-30 dollar coupons for table play, it only helps us last a couple hands longer. Goodbye Tropicana. Third, as if the other changes aren't enough to make us rethink other casinos, we can no longer use a free buffet and later grab a free little pizza (at 1 or 2 in the a.m.) because we're forced to choose one or the other. Meal or comps? They all expire anyway. Give us our one night. We don't spent thousands, but we do spend hundreds, way more than enough to earn a tiny pizza at 1 a.m. Goodbye Tropicana. Hurry up, Terre Haute, we need that new casino. Please treat us to night out. It's still costing us a fortune. read more

They never have the restaurant open anymore the buffet used to be open five days a week breakfast, lunch and dinner now they went clear down to dinner on Friday Saturday and it doesn't even start till 5 o'clock I think they're open for brunch and dinner on Sunday not sure for a casino I don't think they're doing very well read more

Would love to give it more but I believe the woman who answered the phone was named Rosa. She had a horrible attitude. I waited 15 minutes to try and make a reservation and she very rudely told me they were sold out. I tried to ask about a different night but she was rude and hung up on me. I had a few friends who were going to book a hotel with them but I'll be telling everyone to stay somewhere else. I was driving 3 hours out of the way to come here but I'm happy I'm not wasting my time now. I don't think I've ever given a 1 star, but that was some of the worst customer service I can remember. I was looking forward to a short getaway with my husband, but it's better I found out now rather than later. Get someone to answer your phones who has people skills. Second stay here. Each stay was 2-3 nights. First time employees were very rude an not helpful at all when we complained the bed in room was uncomfortable. This trip was different room same horrible bed. We stayed several days and one horrible night of sleep is one thing but 2-3. No matter how clean the place is or how friendly staff is, it can't compensate for a lack of sleep. Because of the treatment from last time we didn't even bother to ask to switch this time. This is the last time I will stay here. We will come to hang out with friends gamble and have a good time, but stay at a different hotel. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I did not stay in the Tropicana hotel but I did visit the casino. The parking garage is an absolute nightmare. Do not recommend you park there if you are in a truck. It's lower than most garages and the parking spots are very small. Cars fly through there, it is very dangerous. The rows are way too narrow, not allowing anyone to park correctly, therefore taking up a more than one parking spot. The casino is clean and attractive once you enter. There was a certain doorman that was so friendly, and welcoming. Others were very dry and didn't speak. So many of their slots are ancient! I read so many places that drinks were free while gambling. This was not the case. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get a drink. There were no waitresses. We eventually found an employee with a beer cooler. He was so rude and arrogant. Do not go to this casino if it's your first time. I overheard several people telling staff it was their first time and requested some guidance. Employees were extremely rude, acted inconvenienced, and were not willing to help. They made people feel terrible for asking any questions at all. I will say the cleaning crew was great. They cleaned the restrooms non stop and did a great job. If you're ok with no table games and only slots. Drive down to Kentucky Downs/ The Mint. Much better service for the most part. read more

The casino allows thefts to occur on the gaming floor. My husband's wallet was stolen. The man who stole it was caught on camera picking it up, taking it another part of the casino and looking in it before placing it in his pocket and then leaving. The manager told us that there is nothing they can do unless he returns, mind you, they know the person as his name is blocked out on the paperwork they gave us. They consider it abandonment of property. No charges, nothing. If he comes back to the casino they will only ban him. read more

Check in was at 4:00. When we arrived at 4:30, we stood in line for 40 minutes. We finally reached the front desk at 5:10 and were told we didn't have a room yet and they would call us when it's ready. At 7:30 we went to the desk to see if we were getting a room, because if not we needed to make other arrangements. They said it "just" got ready. The room was decent, King Non-smoking with a small sofa, a tiny coffee maker, a desk and small tv. We think they should have given some sort of compensation for the inconvenience; like take off the $18 "Resort Fee" or give us a voucher for the casino. When we read about the casino it said that it had a smoking section. It was more like a smoking casino with a tiny non-smoking section. I read a review that they condemned smoking, but that wasn't our experience. There was plenty of smoking and lots of full ashtrays. Too many penny machines where your minimum bid has to be 50 cents or more. Drinks at the Tap Room were very reasonable, the food looked good and they had a nice variety, but we didn't eat there. This is got to be the most horrible casino I've ever been to in my life. After making a 2 1/2 hour drive to enjoy and relax our night it was the most awful experience I've ever had at a casino. This casino you have to pay for alcohol which is fine my daughter and her friends repeatedly tried to order drinks and will cut off like they were five years old harassed and ridiculed and talked about. The staff was rude unappreciative and not humble at all. No wonder the damn casino was empty there wasn't a soul in there. Checked in. Immediately found another person's clothes in the drawers of the room. Toilet in bathroom constantly ran unless you manually opened the tank to push the stopper down. And, work up to take a shower only to find out there was no hot water. I don't know what has happened here but the slots are stupidly terrible and I actually gave a waitress at 20 for a $5 glass of wine and she gave me $4 back I wasn't paying attention but when I went to get another glass of wine I realize when I asked them about it I waited an hour for them to tell me they couldn't do anything about it and they offered no assistance. We were anxious to stay here because of the proximity to the river and museum, but unfortunately the convenient location was overshadowed by incompetent staff. We won a free nights stay, the establishment would not honor because it was won through a third party. No where in the fine print did it state this! Very disappointing! It's a pretty nice place except for the smoking, which the management has no control over. Although there's a designated non-smoking area for customers, the smoke just across the aisle wafts across. We ate lunch at the Tap Room - excellent. We had dinner at Cavanaugh's - not good at all and pricey. My $36 filet (a la carte) was tough and overcooked. How can you make a filet tough? Answer, you overcook it! We stayed in the hotel and it was fine as well. I'd do it again but will eat all meals in Tap Room and the Deli - also recommend skipping the buffet - nasty. read more

I stayed at this motel. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. They allowed someone in my room that wasn't related. The was a violation of my rights. They didn't tell me my stay was only suppose to be 5 days. They took my money for 7 days and they never put my deposit back in my card. This happened in April 2022. My toliet also leaked. read more
