We stopped by on a very random, cloudy, and cool weekday afternoon. The parking area held a couple of cars but has plenty of spots for more. At the edge of the lot, we found a map highlighting several different trails ranging in difficultly. We opted to keep it light to start and took a simple loop which saw some beautiful landscape. after running into a fellow hiker and his dog, who frequent the trails, we decided to keep going, as per the hikers rec. Let me tell ya -- if you keep going up, you'll find yourself with some unexpected and lovely views of Camillus and beyond. I would definitely not call myself a hiker, but I'm so glad we decided to keep going, totally worth the journey. And just a reminder that as you climb the elevation to find those views.. its down hill back to the parking lot.

We got dropped off on King Road near the upper-park lot. The shady Gorge Trail off the west end of the bridge was mostly-downhill, past Heart Pond and the small Pinnacle Falls. Those were about a quarter of the way. The rest was always within hearing if not within sight of the musical stream and the sometimes-chattering birds. There was some fencing to guard you from a cliff's edge, and a couple of stone stairways to climb. The reward was the gently-sloped but raucus Buttermilk Falls. The signs warn "No Swimming", which was tempting. We planned our pickup right there, off NY-13 Elmira Road by the State Park office and parking lot. A lovely serene 1-mile walk. Another gift from Ithaca.

It was 1 mile each way (from the parking lot to near the base of the falls). The trail was relatively flat and shaded for parts of it (but not all). There were a few benches along the way to take breaks, and water at the beginning of the trail to fill up your water bottle. It costs $10/car to get into the state park but you can use that ticket to get into other state parks on the same day without paying again, which would be great to visit nearby Buttermilk Falls and other parks.

The highlight of the park - and its namesake - is Taughannock Falls, a 215-foot plunge waterfall. That's what we were there to see, but let me explain more about the park. The park crosses Taughannock Boulevard. On one side of the road, is the park of the park with lots of amenities: the marina, boat launches, a beach, a concession stand, bathrooms, a playground, and more. We were there on the morning of the Fourth of July, so lots of families were setting up for a fun day for the holiday: picnics, beach, boat day, etc. On the other side of Taughannock Boulevard is the waterfall and several trails. There is one parking lot by the trails, which was already full when arrived around 9am on Saturday, which was the Fourth of July, but we parked near the entrance on the other side of the park and walked over to the trail. There is signage requiring cars on Taughannock Boulevard to stop for pedestrians; it felt safe to cross. We took a little walk around the side of the park with the amenities, but we were there for the falls. We walked along the Gorge Trail - a .95 mile trail that is very flat. While not paved, it was a flat, wide dirt path, making it much more of a walk than a hike. Compared to other parks with falls in the area, it really doesn't feel like you're *in* a gorge, but you do walk along Taughannock Creek. But it's not quite as beautiful of a trail as some others in the area. But we were for the waterfall, which is incredible. It's worth a sweaty walk (it was a hot, hot day) to get to. We took a million pictures, watched the hawks flying over the falls, and took in the falls for as long as we could before heading back along the Gorge Trail. (Unlike other parks nearby, the Gorge Trail doesn't connect to the other trails, so you have to return on the same trail.) It might not be my favorite of the state parks we visited during our time in the Finger Lakes, but the waterfall is stunning and well worth a visit. It's also a great option for anyone who wants to visit a waterfall but isn't up for a more challenging hike, as the Gorge Trail is extremely flat and easy!

This is a great spot to bring the dogs, or even just to read or book. While we were there we saw people taking Senior portraits. I have never been here in winter, but I imagine it is also beautiful then. Some of the trails may be challenging for certain groups (steep incline etc) but are easy for most. It is well maintained and the visitors seem to be respectful. Pictures and description do not do this justice so just come and visit, take some time in nature.

They allow pets but please note most sites don't have RV hookups. Price after fees was $36.25/night.

You know it starts in the heart of College town right next to the theater in the law school and immediately spectacular fall with the stone arch Bridge. It's gorgeous the Falls continue Cascade down several bends and turns the trail comes right up to the Falls just pouring right next to you as your Spencer Street. There's another arch bridge and the final cascading Falls at the bottom. It was pretty nice. It was. It's kind of picture box by a nice little cherry blossom or I think maybe an apple rose blossom or something but well worth it on this nice spring day to check out now that it's open if you go to Cornell, definitely check it out. It's well worth it and it drops you off right at commons. So if you're taking the street to the commons from college town, considered this and said it's great.

Definitely the most relaxing place to hang out and people watch during the summer in the inner city area, and bettered only by Onondaga Lake Park (totally different) in the wider region.

Over the years we've enjoyed multiple events from Ole Home Days, to 4th of July as well as family picnics and parties under the pavilions to simple walks along the trails to family gatherings at the play grounds and so on. It's not too far off from Heritage Hill Brewery, so you can do a two-for and visit both-- however the park is lovely and worth a visit on its own. There's an overlook near the entrance where you can get a glimpse of the waterfall. However, the falls are also within walking distance of the start of the trail. The hill is on a slant and there are steep stairs, so the view may not be accessible for those who have difficulty walking. However, it was so calming just to sit and watch and listening to the waterfall. The day I went, there were others out but the paths didn't feel claustrophobic. I took some time and walked through the woods. The trail I took was relatively short, I think about a half mile total. I appreciated that there was a marker at the start that let you know how long it was. I am by no means a regular hiker (hoping to change that one day!) but this trail wasn't exhausting and was quite serene. This is a great park with a great waterfall and is definitely worth checking out!

She calmed my nerves the week up until my wedding when I was worried about everything falling into place! Beth handled set up, Beth checked in on myself and my husband to see if we needed a snack or water and how we were feeling. During photos (that seem to take forever) she checked on us and supplied snacks and drinks to get us through! She made sure everything ran smooth, she even had to ask some wedding crashers to leave, which she handled flawlessly! She helped with packing up and made sure everything went into the car and nothing was left behind. I wish I could have her everyday in my life to keep me on track! Beth is a ROCKSTAR!!! I walked there and will admit it was a bit hard to find for an out of towner like me. It's located within a warehouse type building on the fourth floor. There's parking around back for those that can drive. Once found, you enter a super serene space. There are two studios that they hold classes in, one larger than the other. The staff was super kind and showed me around beforehand. Unlike some studios, they have plenty of mats which you can use for free but you may want to bring your own towel. The class itself was geared towards beginners. It was really slow and didn't leave me feeling very energized like one might hope. It could have just been this particular class, so that's why I still give it four stars. It's $17 for a drop in, and their $90 unlimited monthly price is a great deal! Overall, I really enjoyed the general vibe of this place. It's everything I would hope for in a yoga studio. I just wish I had more time to try out other classes to find the right speed I was looking for.

The class rooms are often over packed and the parking is very limited and near impossible at times. No day time hours either D-

After attending one of his classes I've felt the most peace and inner freedom that I've ever felt in my life. It was seriously one of the most relaxing things I've ever done -- I can have an incredibly stressful day, come here and leave feeling a little lighter and happier. ILY's classes encourage you to challenge yourself, yet find your own practice and they don't encourage their students to all "look the same." Their instructors recognize that every individual has different strengths and weaknesses and deplore how yoga magazines sometimes emphasize there's a "right and only way" to do a posture. Practically every class will be imbued with a tinge of spiritual wisdom, so if that's not your thing -- you may get a little turned off. I encourage you to stick with it and just take it for what it is. They are just words which may resonate with you or they may not. The practice is great. Best studio in Syracuse -- hands down. In fact, every time I visit my parents in Syracuse I make an effort to go to a class. My only wish is they would have such compassionate and knowledgeable instructors who are able to blend theory with practice so perfectly in every city.
