Great spot for hiking during any season! It is a really quiet and natural area great for walking or bird watching. I highly suggest going in the winter for the pretty snowfall covering the trees. A good rule to follow is when you see a snowman, make a snowman! Happy hiking!

This is a great area with a lot of trails for hiking. The hiking is very moderate level with not too many steep inclines or rocky trails. There are many trails to choose from and all are marked very well. So, even if you feel like you're veering far from the parking lot, there are plenty of colored markers for you to find your path back. We made sure to take a photo of the map ahead of time so we could refer back to it if we got lost. The trails are mostly loops so you don't have to see the same scenery twice! I loved the hike because of all the wild life I got to see. I saw chipmunks, caterpillars, variety of wild mushroom, a mouse, and much more. Parking is free and plentiful. At the trailhead area, there's a sign-in paper so they can track how many visitors they get. There are bench areas for rest stops as well. Near the parking lot, there's a covered space for BBQs or parties. There is also a garden toward the beginning of the trail. The trail is mostly shady. It is really pretty during this fall time of the year because of the fall foliage and cool weather. This hike was very quiet. We only saw one other hiker once and it was at the end of our hike when we headed back toward the parking lot.

This was the third year our guild has chosen to have the retreat here and we are coming back again next year. Dates are booked. Beautiful views of the lake. Cabin like accommodations where we were. The food at the dining room was amazingly good. Perfectly seasoned and gourmet ingredients. They don't skimp on food quality. The staff were all extremely nice and very helpful. I have only good things to say about my experience.

Casowasco is the former summer estate of the Theodore Case family. The property then included 73 acres of land, much of it wooded. It also included a mile of shoreline, a freshwater stream, a beautifully landscaped delta on which stood three large residences, a barn, a boathouse, a clay tennis court, and a small single lane bowling alley. A railroad, following the path of the old Auburn to Moravia plank road, ran along the shoreline. I was very pleased to learn that the focus seems to be on human interaction and outdoor activities. I stopped sending my children to another local summer camp when I noticed campers arriving with electronics, coolers full of food, and camp counselors riding around in several golf carts. These aren't the values or lessons I want my children learning from their summer camp experience. Once our children attend overnight camp for a week this summer, I will update this review with all the details of their stay!

Settled in the middle of nature, the atmosphere promotes relaxation and fosters positivity and social interaction without the negative interference of electronics. The camp director, Maria, made my first time without my children for a week, such a positive experience. I sent four children this summer and one did have a very difficult time with home sickness. Maria was AMAZING with how she handled his difficulties, stayed in touch with me and still encouraged my son. I could not have asked for any better of experience for my children and will definitely be sending my children again, and again, and again!!!!

All the cabins has been recently updated and felt very clean. Mattresses were pretty good especially for camping. The cabins come stocked with paper towel, coffee, mugs, coffee pot, dish and hand soap, tp, garbage bags, sponge and first aid kit. You do still have to bring basically all your stuff as if you were camping. The pool has 2 canopy areas with picnic tables underneath. The pool is only open when the lifeguard is on duty which is a bummer but understandable. There is a short walk to the water where the canoeing/boating/docks are. It is a walk back up a hill but it's not too horrible. The groundskeeper also keeps some livestock onsite which our 2 year loved. She got to hold some baby chicks and we saw sheep roaming free. Nearby places to check out include wineries (obviously) Shtayburn Dairy, FLX Weinery and climbing bines brewery.
