If I can give a negative star, I would!!!! I had to switch to Bamboo because my former insurance carrier dropped California Homes. I got a policy in end of May 2023, my house was hit by a Fedex Truck on June 8, 2023. Fedex insurance instructed me to process my claim with my own homeowner's insurance and they will reimburse my insurance for the payout. I started the claim with claim advocate, Collins Anaba. He was very nice in the beginning, ask me to provide all the police report and evidence (videos & pictures captured by my Ring). I submitted that within a few days. After that, each time I email him, it will take him average of 3-10 business days to reply. I wrote a bad review on google review, supervisor, Mark Cowart reached out to me. He sound super promising on the phone. I have asked him for his contact email & phone number to be emailed to me, he said ok before we hang up. I waited and waited for a week, no information was emailed to me. So I found his number on my caller ID, called a few times, left messages, finally Mark called me back. I wrote down his email address and CC him on every email I sent to Collins. Knowing this is a total Fedex fault, and Fedex already told me that they will reimburse every payment needed to recover my house and expenses. Bamboo has been giving me a lot of hard time for the payout. As of now, Bamboo is still underpaying me approximately $28,000 for my house repair. Collins said my contractor labor is too expensive compared to what his "software" calculated. I told him that nothing in California is cheap and especially I am in the Pennisula. When the accident happened, it was summer, Collins would not allow the repair to start until payment agreement reached. Therefore, no repair can be started. First offer from Bamboo was approx $47K which was not enough to repair my house. I submitted permit, got approved and able to obtain quote from contractors, submitted the quote to Bamboo last week of September. Collins said it will take a week for the adjuster to review and approved. That 1 week became 2 weeks, then became 3 weeks, I emailed both Collins and Mark to expedite the approval along those weeks. Finally, I was approved for a little bit more but not reached my contractor's quote by $28K. Since rain season will start, so I informed Bamboo that I will start the repair process to avoid further damage (water damage). Then Bamboo sent me an email stating that they will only provide temporary housing for 8 weeks and meal reimbursement after work started. That's insane!! I told Colllins that if weather allow and inspector react fast, maybe 8 weeks can complete but since the weather has been bad with rain, contractor cannot complete the repair within 8 weeks. I complaint to Supervisor, Mark and he said he will take care of the supplement balance and reminded me not to worry about the temporary housing since the weather conditions not permitting repair to be completed in the timely fashion. Since I last spoke with him, I have emailed him 2 times to recap the above, he never replied or confirm our conversation. This is getting to be very frustrating dealing with Bamboo. I see all the good review on 'SALE' but of course when they are trying to sell you the policy, they are being super helpful since they wanted your money$$ but after you paid, if you have a claim, you will not get the help and support. The sad part is this accident was totally Fedex's fault and Bamboo should have no problem getting reimbursed and they are still giving me this push back on almost everything. At this point, I am ready to file a complaint with CA DOI and also seeking for an attorney to assist. read more

Similar to other reviews I'm reading, the responsiveness from Bamboo has been lacking. The rep that I worked with was very nice and helpful when he responded, but it took several weeks just to get underwriting to complete my policy. I'm now concerned, after reading other customers experiences, if I have a claim, what kind of service I'm going to get. I'm in a dire situation since carriers are dropping a lot of California home owners policies. I'm hoping Bamboo is addressing the feedback they are getting here. read more

Bamboo Insurance has to be one of the worse insurance company's to deal with if not the worse ....we filed a claim approximately 2 months ago.....they sent out their "specialist " etc ....he discovered mold from a leaking pipe that created mold.....no ceiling leak that was detected from a naked eye....my husband was moving furniture when he detected mold....we immediately contacted Bamboo insurance.....for the past 2 months they have been dragging their feet....our son and his family lives with us....our son has a compromised immune system due to a liver transplant and they have 2 young and sm children.....we needed immediate resolution .....well it never happened....now after 2 plus months they denied our claim we paid a full year in advance....from our experience BAMBOO Insurance is a scam of insurance.....they take our hard earned money & run.....Buyer Be Ware read more

They were horrible. Didn't get back with you when they said they would. Made us feel like they didn't believe us. The insurance inspector they sent to us didn't talk to me directly. He only addressed my husband, which was standing behind me the whole time and I was the one talking and explaining the incident to him. So they didn't have to pay us anything their excuse was wear and tear. Which was a lie because before my husband had his 5 way bypass open heart surgery he did maintenance on our roof. We were only asking for bits and pieces of a roof repair to be done, due to incident only. Not to replace the whole roof. They were very unprofessional and not senior citizen friendly to us. The worst most disrespectful company we have ever dealt with. When a disaster hits we expected some help. Paid our premiums as we needed to do. The winter storm of 2023 was recognized by FEMA as a disaster. All of our appliances were destroyed by a sudden power surge. Bamboo accused us of lying and trying to get them replaced as a scam. PGE declared it was caused by an unbalance of power from tree tops crashing to the ground and taking powers lines down. Disgraceful to accused 2 people in their 70's of stealing. We were also told to go to welfare for help. wHY!!??!!?? We had insurance to cover situations like this. I know insurance is impossible to get in California but be advised do not go to Bamboo. Things happen for a reason, so don't make that mistake. There are a lot of things you can learn, either by someone telling you and educating you for free, or in a tough way by getting into a situation where you expect help but end up paying an extra cost. In my experience with "Bamboo", filing a claim with them will result in two things: firstly, your claim is denied, and secondly, your claim is lower than the detectable amount. In both cases, you will receive nothing from them and will lose your home. You think you are covered by insurance, but you are not. Just a few hunderts more and you will be covered by a well-known company and you will have the peace of mind that if something happens to you or to your property, you will be covered. We submitted a claim from hurricane Hillary on August 21st...it's October 10th! We have still not had any communication whether or not this claim will be covered and in the meantime our walls are probably growing mold! Let me add we have 3 young children living in the home. They have no regard for health and safety. We've contacted Mark, who is supposedly supposed to be the manager overseeing claims and have only received a text saying he will get back to us, but hasn't. This company is a scam. Bamboo has sent out 4 different people to Investigate a possible Leaking pipe in my bathroom The pipes are located in a crawl space Under my home.. 3 people refused to go down there one went down there And retreated In about 30 seconds saying there are too many spiders and it's unsafe I have stated more than once this is a large space with a pretty long drop you will need a ladder Flashlight and a hazmat suit... From head to toe No one has yet inspected my pipes to see if there's leak all they say is the flourish drive of course it is the water's been off for about 10 days and it's a 100° in California Why wouldn't it be dry did I mention there were fans in the bathroom too... When is enough enough we all know if I tear that flow up and there is a leak I resume all responsibility.. insurance walks away. I don't know what to do here they will not send someone to my house who will actually look at the pipes I don't care They did a water pressure test the furthest from the bathroom in the front yard Water spout or whatever you call it.. I cannot overstate this enough, steer clear of these thieves. Live up in Crestline where we got crushed by a once in a lifetime snowstorm. Decks support beams snapped in two. Policy includes, "Weight of snow and ice." Even the Governor declared a state of emergency for this area, helicopters, FEMA, the works. Bamboo sent an inspector FOUR WEEKS LATER and his report took THREE MORE WEEKS and after 76 days (CA requires a decision in 40 FYI, so they took almost double that time) they came back with "Well, since it isn't completely laying on the ground in pieces, we aren't going to cover ANY OF IT!" I then threatened to sue. They reevaluated and said, "O.K. we will cover some of the mold from the moisture damage from the snapped roof and decks. Here is a check for 3K" for a job that is 50K if it's a cent. Reported to the BBB, which they ignored completely. Suing them now. Will update when we settle. Grifters, the lot of them. read more

This is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. My claim was almost three months ago my first inspection two months ago and my engineer and second field inspection one month ago. They refuse to give me any reports. I had to threaten to report them to the insurance commission and they gave me the engineering report. Still refuses to give me field inspectors report. My house has been damaged for three months with no help from them at all. Barely any communication. I just get management is reviewing it. My chimney has fallen over just hanging there. My ceiling is cracked told me to put a beam just to make sure it doesn't fall lol who does that? Literally three months and no funds to fix anything and no end in sight of when they will help me fix my house. This is from snow damage and the weight from the snow. So this is all them to cover. Please do not put yourself in this situation. Do not purchase insurance from them. I have three other homes with them that I will be canceling and going with someone else. An agent provided misinformation about the plan fees. The company will not correct the issue. Also, the premium needs to be paid upfront for the year plus a processing fee, they also have cancellation fees. This is not an Allstate Insurance company, Bamboo is a separate business entity. read more

Horrible customer service, worst "company" contractor. Filed first claim after +10 yrs of having insurance for sudden broken water pipe, their contractor never showed up (was scheduled 3 separate times and when he did, was only present for 3 minutes to say "lets see what the plumber says", waited over 2 weeks without hot water until we had enough of no communication. Never returned calls, only after emailing them to cancel the claim (we paid out of pocket for repairs), their no show contractor and horrible customer service of which the representative could careless of our complaints as he was more concerned with just canceling the claim.
