I wish this place didn't close so early...like 5pm early. That said, we were there for about 20…read moreminutes and got a good sense of the vibe. It is a farmer's type market with some prepared foods, which were top notch. We walked the entire thing and grabbed as much as we could to eat. There are plenty of food places just outside the space that are open later as well. I got some meat sticks from a vendor, sort of farmers market style. There was also another stand that had fruit in a cup with chocolate. Our best deal were some arepas that were half off because it was closing time and they wanted to get rid of them. This isn't the place to take pictures, but rather to immerse yourself in all the goodness that is here.

I went in 2 different times: saturday at 3pm and wednesday at 10am. Two completely different vibes. I tried the famous sandwich from the black pig, viral chocolate covered strawberries and bread ahead. Black pig - the best one sandwich: it was AMAZING!!! I was a bit scared to get this since i was by myself but let me tell you, it was not heavy as i expected it to be. Just delicious overall and would totally recommend. Chocolate strawberries: I love strawberries and chocolate but definitely think you can find cheaper alternatives anywhere in london. Bread Ahead: my new favorite pastry place. I pretty much got a donut from this place (not this location) everyday because the black currant cheesecake donut was that good. I got the tiramisu and crème brûlée donut which my brother liked and i wish i could've tasted them before they went bad but anyways, I would totally recommend the donuts from here! Their chocolate chips cookies are HUGE and delicious as well. This was probably one of my favorite markets!

Finding a spot to enjoy it at the Borough Market was a little challenging, but we figured it out. The crust was tender and flakey, and sausage filling was packed with flavor. We were in London for 2 nights and the sausage roll was definitely one of the tastier bites of this trip. We were at the Borough Market during the lunch rush and we had to queue up - it was worth it! On this trip Ginger Pig was the culprit. Of all the times in England my husband had never tried a sausage roll. When we walked by the Ginger Pig he decided that today was the day. NOTE - do NOT go up to the counter. There will be a que and stay there until called. There were a variety of options but by the time we got to the counter only the original was available (which was totally fine). It is a clean counter there and behind the scenes also appeared to be sanitary. You will have to stand or grab a spot on the curb to sit down and enjoy your selection. Since there was no comparison to make my husband said that it was excellent and a good choice. It was not lacking and very filling. I thought it was funny that right around the corner is another sausage roll stall that claims to have the best as well.

I was very excited to try these pies out! The pies don't come with any sides, such as mashed potato or mashed peas. That's not a dealbreaker though, as they are meant to be eaten on the go and adding mushy peas would be a challenge. We both enjoyed the pies and I'm glad we chose them from all the options in the market, especially since I was growing tired of fish and chips. Great pies - I'd eat them again!

On our 9 day visit in London, one of our quests was to find the best British meat pie in the city, and we're happy to say this is the One! Our admittedly subjective criteria includes: - Pie must have a good balance of gravy and fillings - Fillings must be meat-forward, and not overly displaced with potatoes, carrots or other 'fluff'. Caveat: non-meat fillings must still be present and enhance the pie. - Crust must be crispy, all-around (no soggy bottoms!), but balanced with the fillings. - Value (quality for price) matters Along these lines, this Borough market vendor provided the absolutely best pies we found in all of London. We ordered the "Moo & Blue" which was a beef steak and Stilton cheese pie for 8 or 9£. Start to finish, the pie was crispy, well-balanced, while still offering the best price around. There were a variety of other pies offered, each with clever names (Deer & Beer! Kate & Sidney!), and we wish we had more time to sample them all, but we're sure we'd be quite well pleased with any of them. Is it easy to eat a meat pie in the crowded Borough market location? No. But, it was worth it! All hail, Pieminister!
