I ate at Lina Stores a couple of times while I was in Soho earlier this summer. The finer details are a little fuzzy now, but the overall experience stuck with me. I ordered my way through the menu, and everything was really well done. Clean, confident Italian cooking. Nothing flashy for the sake of it, just properly executed dishes across the board. Service was excellent and the space itself is genuinely comfortable, which is no "small" thing in Soho. It's a place where you actually want to sit, eat, and stay for a while, not rush through your meal, though it is def a co-and-go environment. A couple of days later, I actually ran into one of the waitresses from the restaurant on the street. We hadn't even interacted much during my visits, but she immediately remembered me and stopped to chat. She was genuinely kind and warm, not performative at all. That small moment really said a lot about the people working there. I can absolutely see why it's become a successful chain with multiple locations around London. It's consistent, welcoming, and delivers exactly what it promises. Not gimmicky, just very solid. I'm looking forward to going back. read more

This deli continues to soar and soar in my estimation. It's an essential stop on my visits to Soho From my myriad visits, I can highly recommend the wonderful large green olives, which are mild, buttery and nutty in flavour. They carry high class dried pasta favoured by Italians as they can cook it to al dente consistency - the best pasta has a rough finish in order to better hold the sauce. They also have a great selection of fresh filled ravioli, which are yummy. Fresh bottarga to grate onto pasta? Yes please. Fresh summer truffle? Yup, alongside truffle oil and other truffle products though they don't carry truffe salt, which I buy on my trips to the USA. Fresh pesto sauce? Yup The meat counter contributes prosciutto, pancetta and the hard to find lardo (preserved pork fat). There is top class cheese including some rarer specimens too Olive oil. Pannetone. Fresh beans. Passata. This is true food paradise they always have time to explain things and recommend products if you're a bit lost like me sometimes. They also take great care in packaging the food - the fresh ravioli is sprinkled with polenta to stop them sticking to each other Fantastic! read more

According to my sources this shop has been around for over thirty years and apparently it hasn't changed one bit. As soon as you enter you can understand why it has been around for so long. Now, it is longevity that makes the place so unique, it keeps the out dated tiles, but if it was refurbished its soul would perish. They have the best Italian meats and cheeses, an excellent selection of all your dried Italian basics and value for money with the olives, at 90p per 100g. It i always busy, with Italians and non Italians, they are very funny and very quick when being served. A definite recommendation is to get one of their made to order sandwiches, the parma ham and rocket with pesto in a baguette is a lovely combination. I'm raising my glass of red for another thirty! And like a Christmas Miracle, Lina's had not one but TWO varieties on hand. Fortunately for me, the very kind proprietor offered her advice on which one is probably better (the cheaper one). Having found my orzo, I was free to look at all the other wonderful things Lina's has to offer - it literally stocks anything and everything Italian, from a smorgasbord of a deli counter to every imaginable kind of pasta. A family run establishment that makes you feel transported to Italy. Prices are comparable to buying the goods from the specialist food aisles in the supermarket but far more enjoyable. They're so chatty and make you feel like a member of the family. The fresh Pumpkin Ravioli, Crayfish Ravioli and Canoli are all brilliant. You can buy every type of essential Italian ingredient, my current favorite being the Farro. Inspired by dinners at the nearby Bocca Di Lupo. The sandwiches which are made fresh to order are brilliant, the tastiest Mozzarella, Tomato and Pesto Baguette, is better than anything else I've eaten from a deli. The bread selection is also amazing, all this taken into consideration when the store is so small make it like an Italian treasure trove. read more

Every time I need some Italian speciality that can only be found in Italy, I go to Lina Store. They have EVERYTHING you could possibly need for a perfect Italian meal. From home-made filled pasta to focaccias, fresh meat, cured meat, cheese, a variety of off-the-shelf Italian products that I used to buy back in Italy but can't find in stores now (such as porcini flavoured cooking cream, pear juice, etc.). They also stock regional products that you wouldn't normally find all in once place, such as 'nduja (a spicy and creamy sausages from Calabria) or Polenta (cornmeal dish from Northern Italy). I could go on forever. They are open for lunch and serve a variety of sandwiches, arancini, or cooked-to-order filled pasta. And every single thing is spot-on delicious. The only missing star is for the prices, because although I'm sure importing has its costs and their products are worth every penny, it still leaves a bit of a dent on your wallet, and that's the only thing stopping me from going there regularly. read more

I came here looking for italian candies so while this store had some biscuits, no candies, I'll give it props for what I did see. Neatly organized and fair collection of italian pantry items. Sauces, Pastas, oils, etc. The real star at this store is the deli section. So onward I go and I'll be back the next time I need real balsamic. read more

If you love Italian meats, cheeses and pastas, Lina was made for you :) Context: I stumbled upon Lina after a less than thrilling experience searching for fresh meats in the Whole Foods about a 10 minute walk away. I was cooking in the evening and running out of time to find nice meats and cheeses. The meats are AMAZING. The cheese is great too - there is a good selection of Italian cheeses. All of Lina's meats are sourced from Italy, the staff will tell you about each one of them if you ask. Unfortunately, I was the customer curious enough to ask, and they were kind enough to share all the nuances of the cured meat world. Whether you're looking for Parma ham, mortadella, bresaola or lesser known varieties, such as 'nduja, a spicy, soft salame from Calabria - you won't be let down. The quality on it's own is like nothing else I've found in London to date on top of the fact that the price is comparable to what you pay in chain grocery stores. For those who love pasta, Lina also makes fresh pastas: "Classic fillings are spinach & ricotta; pumpkin; veal. This is a real Italian neighbourhood shop selling top of the line Italian food products and homemade delicacies. Its like having a mamma in Soho. Just walking into this little corner shop in Soho and you feel like you are in a real family run Italian store. And you are. While small the floor to ceiling shelves are packed, filled with Italian food favourites straight from Italy. But what makes this place extra special are the homemade pastas, ravioli and sauces, alongside an extensive array of deli selections, breads, cheeses, and meats. They even make coffee at the end of the counter! What is not to love! read more

The shop as an excellent supply of high-quality Italian products; if we lived in London full-time, we'd definitely shop there. A nice deli with a real Mediterranean feeling, from the outside (reminding you to a corner shop in a small town in Spain) to the inside deco and atmosphere, listening to Italian being spoken from the moment you enter. In terms of its produce, it really has most things you may look for, but it also has other things that you can easily find in any supermarket, like De Cecco pasta. I would prefer for there to be only real deli finds, truly authentic and more representative of its country of origin. I find it very overpriced. I could find some products at the same price in Fortnum & Mason! If it wasn't for this, it would get 5 stars. If there is one thing I would recommend from this place are their sandwiches at lunch, really delish! It definitely is good for a one-stop place to get all your deli products, from really good cured meats, to authentic tined tuna from Spain, great tasting olives, etc. read more

Lina Stores are great for ravioli (made fresh daily.) We tried the spinach and the artichoke ravioli. Very tasty. The store has wide selection of olive oils and cheeses from northern and southern Italy. You find other Italian ingredients to use for authentic Italian cuisine. read more

I am proud to say that my family opened this deli during the war and just yesterday my 80+ year old cousin from Lake Como visited for the first time in 37 years and says it is almost the same as when it opened! Despite the fact that it is sadly no longer in the family I can tell you it is as authentic as it was when my Italian great great grandfather opened it. Freshly made ravioli and tortellini, wide range of Italian meats, antipasti, pasta, olive oils, vinegars, dried porcini, beans and grains, and THE best parmiggiano reggiano! Ask for Franco. It's back! Beautiful meats and cheese and absolutely the best place for all your dried Italian basics. The recent refurb took a little time to get used to and, although some of the vintage charm mentioned above has been lost, the shop is now more open and less challenging for foodie claustrophobics (Lord knows Camisa is out of the question for those who can't cope with a squeeze) and owners alike. The next generation of owners also seem to be doing the lion's share of the shop running now and they are as delightful as their predecessors- knowledgeable, charming and keen to help you create tasty plates of joy from their produce. I used to consider this a great deli for good produce - until today (26/09/2012). The person serving me (young guy, brown hair with a slight curl) served me with complete indifference. I wanted for 150g of pancetta and was asked if 250g was okay (it was the last end bit). It wasn't so asked again for 150g. He then cut off a smaller amount. It wasn't until I got home I realised he gave me the end that was just fat and put the good bit back on display. Rip off and never again. read more
