Dr. Edward Chow changed my life…read more I came here wearing orthokeratlogy lenses prescribed from another doctor. Dr. Chow examined my eyes and realized that the orthokeratology lenses I was wearing was way too tight and actually scratched the surface of my eyeball. It took a while for them to heal, but I'm really glad that they turned out better now. My eyesight it terrible, to the point where I can no longer where nighttime orthokeratoloy lenses. Dr. Chow helped me by putting me to daytime orthokeratology lenses which are hard lenses in the day time and can still decrease my vision (make it better) by about 200 degrees after I took them off, so that I can still wear contacts and wear them. If I did not wear orthokeratology lenses, my eyesight would have definitely been above 1000 degrees by 16 or so, therefore I am really thankful. Dr. Chow also has a glasses shop, usually ran by Mrs. Chow (his wife) for those who wear glasses, or similar ot me, wear contacts and glasses at the same time. Come here if you want to get tested to see if you can wear orthokeratology lenses.

I had nothing about praises about Dr. Chow. He is the most experience optometrist that i have ever…read moremet. Most of the negative comments about him did not seem to be valid to me . If you called in few days before and got squeezed into an appointment then obviously you will have to wait. His clinic is being nice to squeeze in patients. Alternatively, people can go to walk in clinic or emergency, I am waiting time would be much longer. Then there are discussion about Sunday charging people for $40 if you missed to come in. I don't think you can find too many optometrists office open on Sunday ? Therefore, it is the patient responsibility to track and ensure that it is update. It happened to me once that we had switch my Sunday appointment and I would always ask front desk if my other appointment was being canceled. I am coming to this office to receive professional eye care services so the fact that whether appointment is computerized or not does not bother me. I never had any issue in my past 10 years booking appointment with Dr Chow's office. There are postings about his fees are high. In contrast, I think his fees are reasonable because I had been to other clinic before coming to Dr Chow. Just renewal fee can cost you $500 not to mention to charge addition for lenses.

On June 4, 2021, we signed a Myopia Control Service contract for my daughter, which clearly states…read moreMyopia Control Program Includes: - First year product and service (visits) - Yearly services, at least one visit per three months, up to the age of 19 years old. - Starter lens cleaning solutions. We paid $2500 ($400 for the Ortho K sphere lenses and $2100 for Ortho K service) upon signing the contract and started the Ortho K program. We were told at that time that for future years we only needed to pay the cost of lenses when new lenses are required due to prescription changes or damages). Now one year has passed, and we visited again this morning. We were told we need to renew the service to continue the myopia control program. She said it's not just for the cost of the lens, additional yearly fees goes without saying. When I took out the paper contract signed from last year and tried to point out what the contract says, she felt very upset and told us the original contract is voided if we don't pay to renew the service. Wow, a formal written signed contract can be voided arbitrarily by her just like snapping a finger!!!!! And she even charged today's visit to OHIP instead of covering under the service contract which states at least 1 visit per three month till my daughter is 19. So basically we paid $2100 for our first years' 6~7 times visits!!!!! We didn't want to waste any time arguing further with this place with NO honesty, NO professionalism and NO business ethics whatsoever. Just want to share our expensive lesson and hope it can help whoever reads this review make a wise decision.

I had great service at this optical store. There is a variety of brands and styles to choose from,…read morenot just your common brands you know but also brands from Asia. I like to come to this location at First Markham Place because my partner is a customer before and had great service and a quite affordable price. Plus, they cater mostly to an Asian clientele, so they've got frames that fit folks with shorter nose bridges like mine. I was looking for clear plastic frames this time around to change things up and there are some good choices of premium and cheaper brands. Duncan was very patient in adjusting my frames to fit my face. He even adjusted frames for my old pairs of glasses too! They definitely adjusted it better than a lot of the spots I went to in the past and welcome me back any time to get it adjusted. The only issue is they are a bit far from me. Though, I will definitely take them up for the offer when I'm in the area again. The only catch is that the Maska branded glasses I chose didn't come with any accessories other than the glasses case. Normally, other optical stores would provide complimentary cloth or lens spray with purchase. But I don't think I got any of that. It's okay; I had a cloth from my old pair so it's not a big deal. Though I think it's a missed opportunity to include some of their branded cloth and lens cleaner to keep their store top of mind for their customers.
