K-old school (this was Soo crispy and tasty), yangnyeon, soy garlic & honey garlic - a side of ttebokbokki

Korean Fried Chicken has finally made it's appearance in Ajax and it exceeds expectations. If you've never had it, run don't walk. I would recommend dining in the restaurant to experience the freshness of the fried goodness but if you do want take-out, I would recommend calling in to place your orders - there have been times in the past where my friends have tried to order here and they ran out because it's just that popular. Keep that cash handy to use, you'll get 10% off paying for your meal. This was my second time having Ban Ban KFC and boy does it ever hit that craving. My best friend can only eat Halal, so I love that the chicken is Halal. We went a little crazy ordering 4 different fried chicken flavors - k-old school (my fave), yangnyeom, soy garlic and honey garlic (my 2nd fave), as well as a side of tteokbokki! It's a lot of food, we had 6 people feasting and we did have a lot of leftovers. I placed my order the day of right when they opened for a pick-up at 7:30pm. The pick-up was very smooth, the way they pack the chicken ensures less of a chance of it being soggy when you get home to dig in. The incredible smells in the car definitely made our stomachs rumble. I took my first bite into the k-old school chicken and it was the crunchiest thing ever, the chicken was very juicy and it was still steaming hot. My next bite, I sprinkled some of that packed salt they provided and boy did that enhance the flavors. My friends and my husband were equally as amazed at the different flavor profiles of the chicken, the tenderness of the meat and the amount of food that came with our order. Can't finish your meal? Well we heated it up in the air fryer the next day and it still tasted just as good! What are you still doing reading this? Go now to try it!

Ban Ban remains as our favorite KFC spot and we had a chance to dine in last week! What a treat it was to eat the chicken right out of the fryer. We had been getting take outs and deliveries; although their chicken is always crispy and juicy, the freshly fried chicken was on another level. We ordered our usual half & half which is still a smoking deal for the amount of chicken you get. This time we also added the rose tteokbokki to try something new and it was well received by my hubby who loves creamy stuff. It was a bit too heavy for my liking as there was copious amount of bacon and cream in a slightly spicy sauce. They also seem to have changed the type of Tteok (rice cake) they use for their tteokbokki as it used to be Mill-tteok (made from regular wheat flour). This time, it was Ssal-tteok (made from rice flour) and it definitely added to the heaviness of the dish. It was nice to be able to have beer with our meal as well and unlimited refill of the pickled radish cubes was also nice. We'll definitely be back for dine in soon!

Korean fried chicken is relatively new to Durham Region, but the KFC here did not disappoint! We got the yangyeum and the honey garlic bone-in chicken dishes and the portions were huge and super tasty, with a very crispy and saucy exterior and moist and juicy meat inside. Was really impressed by the quality and portions for the price. I'd say I liked the yangyeum sauced KFC slightly more, it was sweet and had just the right amount of slight spice for me! The interior is also very cute, with lots of throwback K-pop hits on the speakers and nice decor. Service was friendly, although I take a star off simply because they seemed short-staffed, especially with all the dine-in and delivery orders on a Saturday night, so things were a bit slow. However everything else was great and I'd definitely come back here to try their other KFC varieties and other dishes!

Just awesome! This is the best damn fried chicken you'll ever have! Friendly service, BIG portions, great presentation, cooked fresh, chicken is juicy, crispy and flavourful. We went in and tried all five flavours, they were all excellent and exceeded our expectations. They even have different types of coating, depending on the flavour you choose, great attention to detail. Highly recommended!

Halal chicken. But they serve pork and alcohol here. We ordered the spicy boneless chicken and the Yangnyeom (gochujang, soy sacue, sugar, rice wine vinegar, garlic, and ginger) boneless. The spicy was spicier than expected. The hurt your tongue until its sore and takes 3-5 mins to feel okay - kinda hot. It's so crunchy yet tender on the inside. Even the next day when I put them in the oven as leftovers they were still crunchy which is rare. They were both tasty but I prefer the Yangnyeom. And the pieces of chicken were pretty huge compared to what you get at other places so it was worth the price. As for the bacon bits in the rice cake dishes, the first waitress told us the bacon is mixed in already and then it can be taken out, and then when we were done the next waitress said that they can either decide to add it after or not included at all. So for this miscommunication and lack of clarity, they lost one point. Would be nice if they had some mocktails and if the water was cold since the chicken bites were incredibly spicy. Maybe in the future they will. Theres one washroom and the hot water was boiling hot n burnt my hand and the cold was minimal pressure so just be careful. I recommend this place and I will definitely return. Lots of parking but its a lil run down in that plaza.

The store is in a smaller plaza and pretty inconspicuous, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how clean, spacious, and comfortable the inside of the store was. I went with my boyfriend and was a bit nervous about trying a new place as this would've been his introduction to Korean fried chicken and tteokbokki. Originally, we wanted to dine-in, but they only offered take-out at the time. But when our food was brought out, we were kindly offered plates and utensils to enjoy our meal inside (we also got a complimentary Canada Dry!). It was such a nice gesture and unexpected as well. We declined, but the gesture has stuck with us. The meal itself was absolutely delicious. We ordered the original wings with a side of tteokbokki. It was about a 20 minute drive back home, but the chicken was still hot and crispy when we got back. The wings didn't have an excess amount of grease and came with delicious fries as well. Not overly salted, still moist inside, absolutely yummy. The tteokbokki was spicy, chewy, sweet, and had all the delicious essentials such as fish cakes and cabbage. The portions were generous and there were leftovers for another meal. Absolutely recommend this place!

I usually try to avoid this plaza since it can be a little sketchy, but this place was worth it! Clean, nicely decorated, and a really nice staff member working there. We walked in and it took 20 minutes for our order to be ready for pick up. We ordered the Spicy Chilli Korean Chicken. It came with a little thing of pickled radish and a can of ginger ale. Usually my spice tolerance is pretty good, but this one was SPICY. I think it almost took away from how good the chicken was because I was trying to keep my cool under the heat! Great food though, would go back, but try something less spicy next time!

Great variety of food. I came in with a neutral mind-set, but this was definitely worth the trip! Super flavourful, crunchy, they are not cheap on the amount of chicken you get. Fresh and home-made. Filipino / Korean owned restaurant . AWESOME. Very friendly service. Has an "old-ish" feel to the place. maeu joh-eun! 4/5

It's finally open!!! This restaurant used to be a mix of Filipino + Korean fried chicken food. It closed and reopened during 2021 as a dedicated KFC joint. It was highly anticipated to open in September but it seems the date was pushed out until November. The restaurant is located deep in the industrial depths of Ajax. The shop has tables but it seems that right now they aren't doing dine-in. Take-out is still available. We were able to call ahead and put in an order. They accept all typical forms of payment and there is a cash discount but we had to ask if they had one specifically. They were either sold out of or didn't carry one of the flavours that we attempted to order for the chicken (the yeongnam). We replaced that with the spicy chili and split the Special Ban Ban with an order of the soy garlic flavour. It turns out they aren't messing around when they mean spicy. I managed to work my way through one piece of the spicy before my face was on fire. A painful on fire and kind of scorched taste bud feeling. It almost left a bitter aftertaste. The soy garlic was very good however. The fried chicken skin survived a car ride home and was still crunchy while the inside of it was pretty moist. I was also impressed at how big the chicken pieces were. They were just wings and drumsticks. It seemed like there were breast pieces as well. I'm hoping to try their other flavours on my next visit here! We attempted to order the Cheese Budak but they weren't able to serve this either. We decided to get the Seafood Tteokbokki instead. This was really prettily packaged with pairs of seafood stacked neatly on a bed of ricecakes and fishcakes. Despite the red broth looking like molten lava, this was not spicy. There were big prawns, mussels, and some pieces of squid on this as well. I feel like it could almost be a little meal in itself. Glad to have another Korean option in the Durham area!

The chicken was good, spicy and very saucy, it was also very crispy. We ordered in advance And the food was ready on time. The portions were really big for two people, we did not even finish the food.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Durham. The chicken is legendary. When people come from out of town and want whats good and local we go here. It is amazing.

Ordered tonight from Ban Bans for the first time. To preface this review - I'm not a big meat eater. I'll eat it sometimes but I just prefer vegetarian or pescatarian food. That being said - the fried chicken is really good! I was surprised to see that it was different cuts of chicken. There were some wings, some breast, and thigh. The batter on the chicken was really crunchy and the chicken was cooked perfectly - it was juicy and soft. If I was a meat-lover, I think I'd really love this place for the chicken. The fried shrimp dumplings were a huge let-down. When you take a bite of it, it doesn't taste like shrimp nor look like shrimp. It's a purple coloured meat inside - mystery purple meat. If you like to roll the dice, it might be for you. It's not something I'd order again and in fact, we threw it away. The spicy rice cakes with seafood was okay. Rice cakes were soft and chewy, the sauce was mildly spicy without a sugary under-flavour. But the seafood was interesting. It came with 2 pieces of shrimp, 2 small pieces of squid, two mussels and fish cakes. The squid tasted like rich soil/dirt and I had to spit it out. The mussels were large but stuff came out of them and disappeared into the red sauce. The shrimp had eyes on them, so that wasn't for me. The "veggies" that this dish describes having is just cabbage and carrots. It was decent if you're craving spicy rice cakes, but I think I'm good and I wouldn't order it again. The onion rings were good. Overall, if we wanted crunchy juicy chicken, I'd order from here again.

Food is good. Service is comparatively slower but the taste makes up for that. Always busy, even on weekdays.
